June 17 – June 20 Video

What Up Co-Ed Leaguers?  Hope your week is going well. Check out the Week 2 Video above.  Before I get into the Week 2 Rankings, here is a quick plug for the new All Sports Series FansEdge Pick-Em contest.  To play you just go to allsportsseries.com from June 14-July 1 and on the right side of the homepage you pick who you think will win each day.  Really quick and easy.  2 people will win gift cards from FansEdge. The person who answers the most correctly and the person who simply plays the most (if there is a tie then I will pull out of a hat b/t those tied for the most days played)…

Let’s Rank-Em Shall We…

1) Team Bartlett (Atomic Transport) Currently in 1st with 47 points (Last Week: 1) – No Surprises here.. When you enter the Week #1 and then proceed to defeat every team in the league in a volleyball tournament you deserve to keep the #1 spot.  The question for everyone else is.. can they be beat?  It did not take long to get a true front runner in the Co-Ed League and it’s Team Bartlett. They picked up 7 points for winning their group and an additional 25 for winning the whole tournament.  Led by Stacey “Spikes on you” Terchin and Andrew #HeadBandMan” Kaplan these guys and gals are for real.

2) Team Leibow (YouSwoop.com) Currently in 2nd with 37 points (Last Week: 4) – Ok so the we’re just here to participate schtick has been made! This team is out for blood! They have tasted the sweet nectar of winning and they want more of it.  Captain Harrison “fool me once” Leibow has his squad marching to the same drum.  These guys have dinner together 7 nights a week!  Apparently Ben “Sorry Ben” Klassman is a wiz in the kitchen! It’s impressive. They picked up 7 points for winning their group and then an additional 15 for coming in a close second to Team Bartlett in the Volleyball Final.  Next Week they play Team Shiffman (Real Ryder Revolution) in a Rivalry Flag Football game.  Should be extremely entertaining.

3) Team Thomas (City Point Realty) – Currently in 3rd with 22 points (Last Week: 3) – Team Thomas came into Monday Night ranked #3 and even though there was some movement around them they will hold steady here for at least another week.  They received 3 points for advancing in the tournament (as a non-group winner) and 5 more points for getting 3rd.  Of all the teams trying to knock Team Bartlett of their pedestal I may like Team Thomas’ chances the most.. It just so happens we are going to get that matchup next Monday Night in Primetime Flag Football (8pm CST)!  Thats right folks #1 v. #3. With a win Team Thomas will surely rise in the rankings.

4) Team McMenamin (FansEdge) – Currently tied for 5th with 12 points (Last Week: NR) – The first team to climb from out of the rankings and into the top 5!  This team battled valiantly in the VBall Tourney and managed to eek out 3 points for advancing to the Knockout Rounds.  That’s 3 more points than half the teams and might be a difference maker in terms of seeding come playoff time.  They will square off with Team Silberstein in Flag Football Next Monday Night.

5) Team Shiffman (Real Ryder Revolution) – Currently in 4th with 15 points (Last Week: 2) – The biggest drop in rankings this week goes to Team Shiffman.  I think it had more to do with other teams just performing better in Week 2 than any sort of drop by this squad.  Drew “taller than the net” Sultan sure was a sight to see on Monday Night.  Unforced errors served to be their undoing as they dropped multiple games 22-20.  Those small mistakes were the difference between them making a serious run at the tournament title and keeping their spot near the top of the rankings.  Their game with Team Leibow in Flag Football will be one to watch next Monday Night.  I sense that both teams will know what the other is doing.. It’s just going to come down to a few key plays.

Rest of the Pack (alphabetical order):

Team Harris (RazorReef.com) – Currently tied for 5th with 12 points (Last Week: 5) – Team Harris had a promising start to the tourney on Monday but could not keep the momentum.  Some have said there may be a direct correlation to Josh “Biceps” Feld being on the court and the other teams’ ladies being distracted.  I think he is in line for some more PT in the coming weeks.  They play Team Geer next week in Flag Football.

Team Geer (the Whiskey Bar) – Currently in 7th with 6 points (Last Week: NR) – N/A

Team Silberstein (Cy Fredrics Jewlers)  – Currently in 8th with 3 points (Last Week: NR) – Flag Football is going to be their sport.  Mark my words. They just need a change of scenery and to get outside to really let their aggression out.  Jen “@JSherms1102” Sherman has guaranteed a mid-season turnaround for this squad!  Their game with Team McMenamin should be a fun one!

Well that does it for the Week 2 Rankings. If your still reading, go back to work! Next week is flag football if you haven’t gathered that much already. The Gift of Life Walk for the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois is this Sunday June 24th at Soldier Field from 9-Noon. There is also a 5k portion.

If you have any interest in attending please let me know and I can get you a lot more info. It’s going to be a great event with close to 2,000 people!

If not see ya Monday for Week 3!
