2012 Suburbs 30+ Week 2 Softball

Updated: June 29, 2012

June 24-27 Video

How’s it going 30 and over League?? Check out the Video for this week above!  Let’s Rank ’em shall we..

1) Moccio’s – Currently tied for 1st with 35 points (Last Week: 2) – The Moccio’s crew is Burning Up! Good thing they are firemen.. (Obligatory Cheezy joke — check).. After showing they had what it took in Week 1 Hoops, they exerted their Softball Dominance over Cy Fredricks in Week 2.  Eric “hit it where they ain’t” Hernandez had two big hits along with 3 RBIs to help the team with their 15 runs on the night.  Moccio’s will enter Week 3 Bowling on July 11 as one of only two unbeatens left!

2) Body By Solomos – Currently tied for 1st with 35 points (Last Week: 3) – These guys have played the “we are just happy to be here and don’t expect anything” card for the past 2 Weeks.. However I think they have been hustling us! As Week 2 is in the rear view mirror they are the 2nd of 2 Undefeated teams left.  They got a big win 12-8 over Little Legends Soccer Academy on Wednesday Night.  The bottom of the batting order led to some runs as Captain Dan “Modest” Wolf batted toward the end of the order but had 3 hits and 3 RBI.  Leadoff man Michael “backups each play at 1st base from Catcher” Goldstein had 4 hits and a few RBI of his own..  Not sure what their bowlers are going to be like but so far so good for these guys..

3) Cy Fredricks Jewlers – Currently in 3rd with 15 points (Last Week:1) – Want to know why All Sports Series beats other leagues as far as competition.. Cy Fredricks was the best Hoops Team in Week 1.. And if it was just a basketball league I think these guys would take the league.. easily.. however you have to be able to win at multiple sports to succeed out here.. These guys were not too familiar with 16″ and in a game where experience really helps, they did struggle a little. However, by the time the Playoffs come around I fully expect these guys to figure it all out.  One guy who is ready right now is Jamarcus “4for4” Lowery.  I also have a hunch these guys can BOWL!

Rest of the Pack (alphabetical):

The Alley – Currently tied for 4th with 0 points (Last Week: NR) – Softball might not be their best sport.. Yet!  But I know these guys have been practicing bowling for a while now and I expect nothing less but them getting their first points on July 11!  I’m putting the rest of the league on notice.

In the Raw – Currently tied for 4th with 0 points (Last Week: NR) – N/A

Little Legends Soccer Academy – Currently tied for 4th with 0 points (Last Week: NR) – They have the pieces to make a run later in the season and in the Playoffs.  Like I said last week they just need some time to gel together. Ben “Let’s play 2” Loftus had 2 RBI and Phillip “Big Stick” Richter added 3 hits to his team’s offensive output..  Big Question.. Can they BOWL?

That’s it for the wrap-up this week! Enjoy the week off and July 4th Holiday. See you on July 11 at the Alley in Highwood for some Bowling Action!
