2013 – Suburbs Men’s Adult League (June 26)

Updated: June 27, 2013

Welcome back to the Men’s Adult League blog Wrap-Up!  The rain definitely through us a curve ball this week but I have to say the bowling night was pretty fun!  The scores were really impressive as well.   Before I get to the Power Rankings for this week I want to congratulate Kris Wells of Team Equinox/SLA who had the high score of the night with a 186! He will receive a $25 Gift Card to Sushi Kushi Too in Highland Park. Well done Kris. I’d also like to thank the Alley in Highwood for graciously hosting us on Wednesday Night and on short notice due to the rain!  In other news, Scheduling Reminder — we are off next week for the 4th of July.

Back to Bowling Night — Scoring was done by taking each team’s Top 5 overall games (same person could be used more than once) and Averaging those scores out…  Below are the results and the point totals each team received in the Standings:

Power Rankings

1. Team Deerbrook Limousine – Currently tied for 2nd in the Standings with 25 points.

The Defending Champs are right back where they feel at home.. atop the Power Rankings!  This makes it the second consecutive year that Captain Dan “KingPin” Wolf’s team has won the All Sports Series Bowling Night.  Captain Dan helped the squad with a 158 as did Brian “double duty” Kaplan who bowled a 161 and 144.  Hank “the Tank” Shulruff chipped in with a 141 (which fell just short of his 175 prediction — but who cares you guys won!).  These guys just needed a week to get their mojo back. I realize they are not in first place in the standings but there is plenty of time for that.. They have momentum and are heading into their #1 sport — Softball next week!

2. Team Moccio’s – Currently in 1st in the Standings with 30 points.

I know, I know — You were in first place last week and you are still first in the Standings so how could I have the audacity to drop you to #2?  Well, the Power Rankings are a “what have you done for me lately” type of deal and Deerbrook Limo beat 7 other teams on Wednesday Night — they get to be #1!  As for Team Moccio’s — they had a heck of night as well at the Alley in Highwood.  McKenzie “Pete Weber” Cherestal led the way with a huge 169 for these guys.  Also, Captain Eric “any relation to Ulises?” Hernandez put up a 145 and Ulises “any relation to Eric?” Hernandez rolled a solid and consistent 132 & 120!  These guys literally edged out Team #3 but by a fraction!  Who said every pin doesnt count? Well I bet I did at one point Wednesday Night!  Anyways, this is not the team you want to face on the Softball Diamond.  I bet they regain that #1 Spot in no time!

3. Team the Alley in Highwood – Currently tied for 2nd in the Standings with 25 points.

Good Teams win when they dont play their best.  Good Captains can pull together a team even when it seems there is no hope on certain nights.  Captain John “Mr. 157” did just that on Wednesday Night.  Not only did he bowl a great game (2 really) with an ailing back, he got Teddy “one of the nicest guys in town” Cohn who also contributed to the team with a 123. He also got some help from friend Brian who dropped a 160+.   These guys just narrowly missed out on 2nd place by a few decimals.. Crazy how close it was really.  I’m not sure what to expect out of Softball for these guys but it seems as if Captain John knows what it takes to produce a win.

4. Team John’s Garage – Currently in 4th in the Standings with 20 points.

Captain Gerald “get on my back” Good had a performance for the bowling ages on Wednesday Night.  The guy put up 177 and 153 in his two games and literally willed his team to 5 big points in the Standings.  Last week was a great gel week for John’s Garage and I think that as the weeks progress they are only going to get more chemistry and better as a unit.  They come in fourth this week but with Flag Football looming in a few weeks, I expect these guys to be near the top coming into the final weeks of the season!

5. Team Equinox/SLA – Currently in 5th in the Standings with 15 points.

No points to speak of in terms of the team competition on Wednesday Night however as mentioned above Kris “Mr. 186” Wells was your top score of the night!  To get that 186 Kris bowled an unimaginable 5 consecutive strikes.  Unfortunately for him the PBA (pro bowling association) scouts didn’t get to the event until after Kris had completed his final frame.  Apparently they were stuck in traffic.  Anyways, it was incredible to watch and he should feel pretty good heading into the bye week.

Rest of the Pack – Alphabetical Order – All tied for 6th in the Standings with 0 points.

Team Cy Fredrics – Mark my words these guys will get their first win in July. I just know it!  They had nice early start on Wednesday night thanks in large part to Andrew “muscles” Eaton who bowled a 129.  However, they just couldn’t hold on as the night progressed and the pins kept going down for other squads.  I think this squad is going to be a tough matchup in Softball on July 10. Just a hunch.

Team Rory and Co. Gluten Free Goods – Captain Patrick “not barry” Larkin led the way with a big 126 for these guys but it just wasn’t enough to place in the Top 4 teams.. There is a trend among many of the Rookie teams this season — they are still searching for that first victory. It will come and it will be oh so sweet when it does.

Team YourTaxShrink.com – While these guys might not have lit it up on the scoreboard, they seemed as if they were having the best time out of anyone on Wednesday Night.  A team made of many Free Agents — the bonding time associated with bowling — will be truly invaluable to them as the season goes on. I think while they scored no points in the Standings their team chemistry is at an all-time high and it is just a matter of time until these guys find themselves in the winner circle!

That’s it for this week’s Wrap-Up. Have a great weekend and a great 4th! See you on July 10 for 16″ Softball!
