2014 Madison – Week 4 Softball/Kickball (Oct. 6)

Updated: October 9, 2014

With Week 4 in the books we are now just 3 weeks away from the Playoffs!  The #PlayoffPush has officially started and next Monday will go a long way in determining Seeding.. This past Monday Night the Co-ed League had a double header with a combination of softball and kickball.. The Men’s League will have some double headers Monday Night on the gridiron and the Co-Ed League will try to keep pace with Team Bruksch.. Before we get into all of that, here’s a Link to the Weekly Video Highlights.  Last week, we started with the Men’s League Power Rankings so this week it is back to Co-Ed going first.. OK let’s Rank ’em!

Co-Ed Power Rankings

1. Team Bruksch (Goben Cars) – Currently in 1st with 80 points.

Softball. Check.  Football. Check. Softball AGAIN. Check. Kickball.  Check… For those keeping tabs on this type of thing (as we are), you’ve noticed that Team Bruksch is a perfect 4-0 so far on the season.  They’ve surely had their heart-pounding moments.. It hasn’t been easy.. Like coming back in the bottom of the 7th inning vs. Team Fischer back in their first Game.. However, no matter the sport and no matter the opponent.. They’ve managed to come out on top each time they’ve taken the field..  Only a few Teams in All Sports Series history have managed to go undefeated over the course of an entire Season.. Team Bruksch is officially on “Running the table” watch.. With a W next week in flag football they’ll actually lock up the #1 Seed in the Playoffs!  Great job!

2. Team Fischer (Badger Bowl) – Currently in 2nd with 40 points.

Standing pat at #2 is Team Fischer who went 1-1 in their double dip on Monday Night. They got a W in their first game of the night in Softball w/ Team Klein but then failed to avenge their heartbreaking defeat back on the first night of softball when they took on #1 Team Bruksch in the kickball nightcap.  This group is very well-rounded and after all teams have played 4 Games they seem the best suited to take down Team Bruksch. Obviously, a lot can and will happen between now and the end of the Season. Next week its back to football and a date with Team Klein!

Rest of the Pack (Alphabetical Order)

Team Klein (Biaggi’s) – Currently tied for 3rd with 20 points.

This crew didn’t get off to the fast start they wanted to on Monday Night as they dropped their first of two games to Team Fischer in Softball.. However, they rebounded nicely to get their first W of the Season by taking down Team Smith in Kickball to end the evening.  This is the spark they’ll need going forward and they have a chance to avenge their loss from last week w/ Team Fischer next week on the gridiron!

Team Smith (Distinctive Foods) – Currently tied for 3rd with 20 points.

Team Smith has hit a bit of a rough patch the past two weeks but they have PLENTY of time to right the ship and get back to their winning ways.  Next week they get a chance to do what no one has been able to do just yet.. Knock off Team Bruksch.. That would be just what they need to get them ready for the Playoffs!

Men’s Power Rankings

1. Team Max (Ian’s Pizza) – Currently in 1st with 75 points.

Oct. 21, 2013 — the last time Team Max lost anything in All Sports Series.. We are getting closer and closer a full year of winning for the Defending Champs.  On that night they took 2nd in the Volleyball Tourney — the only blemish on a near perfect 2013.  Next week they will take to the gridiron once again and look to prevail (as always).. Then should they take care of business next week, they will try to get over that volleyball tourney hump in Week 6.. Will they go perfect?  There’s a bunch of Teams that think they won’t..  However, the smart money is surely with the Repeat.

2. Team Saltzman (9Round Madison) – Currently tied for 2nd with 35 points.

This is the highest Team Saltzman has climbed so far in this Season and they will look to hold on to #2 for the remainder of the Regular Season.. More importantly if they stay in the 2/3 spot in the Standings they will avoid Team Max in the Playoffs for as long as possible.. That seems like its in their best interest.. They were really strong on Monday Night and next Monday they’ll look to use that regained form in Flag Football which historically has proven more difficult than other sports for them.. I wouldn’t count them out for a second though.. Not just next week, but for the whole thing. They have what it takes to beat the best on any given night.

3. Team Callahan (SLA Insurance Green) – Currently tied for 2nd with 35 points.

4. Team Holway (MacTaggart’s Market) – Currently in 4th with 20 points.

Both Teams were off this week and as a results were jumped by Team Saltzman in the Rankings. However, they both not one but two flag football games next Monday Night — so the opportunity for them to hop right back up are surely present.

Rest of the Pack (Alphabetical Order)

Team Bernstein (Badger Bowl) – Currently tied for 6th with 0 points.

Team Norris (Biaggi’s) – Currently in 5th with 15 points.

Both squads were also off this past week. Team Norris looks to hold onto their #5 spot in the Standings when they have a Flag Football double dip next Monday Night!

Team Pulfer (SLA Insurance Purple) – Currently tied for 6th with 0 points.

Still searching for their first W but a ton of time left to do it. They’ve had some Games rescheduled for later in the Season and actually have both a flag football double header next Monday looming and a Hoops double header in the final week of the season. They have several opportunities left to make a splash!

Team Weisberg (Goben Cars) – Currently tied for 6th with 0 points.

Had to deal with the Defending Champs in softball this past week which is no easy feat.. They will get better though as a result of it and they too will have a flag football double dip on Monday Night.  This squad is better than their Record indicates and over the course of the next few weeks they’ll prove it.

That’s it for this week. Have a great weekend and get ready for a long night of flag football action next Monday Night!
