2014 Suburbs Men’s Adult – Week 3 16″ Softball (July 9)

Updated: July 10, 2014

The Men’s Adult League moved outdoors for the first time on Wednesday Night and we were provided with a beautiful night and plenty of highlights. Believe it or not we are just about half-way through the Regular Season and after next week’s Bowling Night we will be over that hump.  Before we get to the Power Rankings here’s a Link to the Weekly Video Highlights! OK Let’s Rank ’em!

Power Rankings

1. Team The Alley in Highwood – Currently in 1st with 72 points.

Expect someone else?  Well you shouldn’t.. These guys are fresh off a Volleyball Tourney Win in Week 2 and are the Defending Champs of the entire League.. Oh and they are undefeated in 2014.. They actually are coming close to a full year without a Loss.. A feat that is very rare in All Sports Series.. An undefeated Championship Season has only been done once in All Sports Series and it was in the 2012 Chicago Co-Ed League.. These guys have historical aspirations and likely have the goods to get it done..  They’ll also have the home-court (lane?) advantage on Wednesday Night as we move to the Alley in Highwood for Bowling Night.

2. Team BBQ Pit – Currently in 2nd with 40 points.

In a rematch of the epic 2012 Championship Softball Game — Captain Wolf’s crew took down Team Moccio’s in 16″ Softball, which served as a repeat of that final night of 2012.  Team Wolf is among the strongest Softball Teams in the League so it will be key to their Playoff success to keep earning points throughout the Regular Season so that they can get a good Hoops match-up in the Elite8.. If they get to the Final4 Softball Round it can be 2 crowns in 3 years for these vets.

3. Team Cy Fredrics – Currently in 4th with 28 points.

This was one of the more impressive Games in Team Cy Fredrics 2-year history. They brought the bats out early and often on Wednesday Night and really looked comfortable on the diamond.  In 2013, these guys made it to the Final4 Softball round but were ousted by Team Moccio’s.. It’s a great sign for them to look so strong on the diamond.. That was their missing piece last year and if they can keep those bats humming, they might be adding some nice jewelry (a Crown) to their stellar, stellar assortment. Have you been into Cy Fredrics by the way? Check. It. Out.

4. Team Trifecta Grill – Currently in 3rd with 32 points.

They suffered their first stumble of the Season on Wednesday Night.  Not a big deal. It’ll be interesting to see how they respond to adversity next week at the Alley in Highwood. My guess is they will be just fine.. They are still in great shape sitting in 3rd in the Standings.. Definitely a group to watch.

5. Team Moccio’s – Currently in 6th with 8 points.

Rounding out the Rankings this week is Team Moccio’s. They lost a tough one on Wednesday Night which sort of sums up their first few weeks of the Men’s Adult League.  They’ve had a tough schedule to start the Season.. Week 1 they dropped a 2013 Championship Rematch to the Alley in Hoops and then faced off with Team BBQ Pit in their best sport (Softball).. At this point, they should just be happy that they have any points at all.  These guys are going to start climbing and rapidly.. They could win the Bowling Night next week.  Mark it down.

Rest of the Pack (Alphabetical Order)

Team Dr. Jacob D.D.S. – Currently in 5th with 15 points.

Historically, Team Dr. Jacob D.D.S. has been among the strongest Hoops squads in the League and have left room for growth on the Softball diamond.  Even with the roster remix, this still remains true.. They have plenty of athletes and talent.. They’re going to be back in the Power Rankings in no time.

Team The Karyn Collection – Currently tied for 7th with 0 points.

Got a little help from their friends.. Team The Alley this week, but it won’t help in the Standings just yet.. Plenty of time to move on up.

Team Sunset Foods – Currently tied for 7th with 0 points.

Scheduling really matters..  They’ve played likely the strongest Hoops crew – Team Dr. Jacob D.D.S. in Week 1, had a tough Vball group with the Champs The Alley and Team Moccio’s.. Then in Week 3 they got Team The Alley in Highwood in their best sport – softball… It won’t be this tough going forward.. Just can’t be. They are going to get multiple Ws over the next few weeks.. You have been warned.

That’s it for me. Have a great week. See you next Wednesday Night at the Alley in Highwood!
