2015 Chicago Co-Ed – Week 3 (June 29)

Updated: July 2, 2015

The Co-Ed League was split between softball and hoops this week.. With the intro of softball we saw new Teams grab hold of Ws and vault themselves up the Standings.. Before we get to the Power Rankings, click here for the Weekly Video Highlights! OK Let’s Rank ’em!

Power Rankings

1. Team Steinbauer (RazorReef.com) – Currently in 2nd with 45 points.

Another week and another W for the Defending Champs.  They have long been a feared Hoops squad and faced their toughest Hoops test to date but still managed to come out on top with Team Lazarov last Monday Night. Matthew Kuehn had a Team high 26 points in this one.  No time to celebrate too much though as they have the UM Alumni squad on the horizon next week in Volleyball!

2. Team Wolter (Dr. Jacob D.D.S.) – Currently in 1st with 65 points.

Alone in first place of the Standings. Check.  Last remaining Undefeated Team. Check. Three Wins in three different sports. Check.  Team Wolter is the real deal and they used Monday Night to showcase that once more.   They may face their toughest test to date next week however as they will go toe to toe with the Team that comes in at #3 this week…

3. Team Evans (The Karyn Collection) – Currently tied for 6th with 27.5 points.

Team Evans moves up a few more spots this Week after a big Hoops W on Monday Night vs. Team Cliq.  There was never really any doubt to who would take that one as they jumped ahead early and maintained the lead throughout.  Captain Lauren had 21 points a week after taking an errant elbow to the face in Flag Football.. That’s playing through pain folks. Her crew has a chance to take a Top 2 spot in next week’s Rankings.. They’ll just have to get past the Team that currently holds #1 in the Standings.. Team Wolter.

4. Team Free Agent (Kelly Parker Home Collective) – Currently tied for 3rd with 37.5 points.

We knew their first W was around the corner and Monday Night they earned it on the softball diamond against previously unbeaten Team Rosenthal.  The core of the Free Agent Team got some help from their friends including All Sports Series vet Andrew Holzman and really looked like they were right at home on the diamond. Great sign for them as the Co-Ed Championship Game will also be Softball!  They need to keep the momentum next week in Volleyball against Team Cliq!

5. Team Rosenthal (Chicago Trolley & Double Decker Co.) – Currently in 5th with 35 points.

Great Teams bounce back after rough weeks.. Team Rosenthal is on the verge of being a great Team and likely faster than anyone would have thought given their age.  They showed they are a real Volleyball power in Week 1 and you can expect them to get right back on track next week when they take on Team Friedman!

6. Team Lazarov (Danley’s Garage World) – Currently in 8th with 25 points.

This group isn’t used to losing in Hoops.. Team Steinbauer though is just a tough task and Hoops is certainly their strong suit..  So no reason to dwell here.. They are among the favorites for the Championship and one week isn’t going to change that all. You can expect them to excel next week in Volleyball as they have historically been among the strongest VBallers in the League.

7. Team Friedman (Muchacha Salsa) – Currently tied for 3rd with 37.5 points.

The first Win is always the hardest to get and now that they’ve accomplished that, expect the floodgates to open!  They are a fiery bunch and if they can build up some momentum in July the sky is really the limit come Playoff time in August. Well done everyone!

Rest of the Pack (Alphabetical Order)

Team Cliq (Trifecta Grill) – Currently in 10th with 0 points.

Can site the paragraph above about how getting the first win in All Sports Series is always the toughest. The schedule has also done no favors for the Cliq/1871 squad as they have gone up against the League’s best and in their favorable sports.. The schedule will turn shortly and you can expect them to start climbing up the Standings and into the Rankings shortly.

Team Fischer (Jam ‘n Honey) – Currently tied for 6th with 27.5 points

If the first 3 weeks are any indication of how the League will finish.. Than Team Wolter is a true beast.. So, can’t be too upset in dropping one to them in Softball.  Captain Fischer and co. are ones that will bounce back quickly and not get down about one week. They have another tough test next week in Team Lazarov in Volleyball but they’re certainly going to get a few Games out of the night and with that some key points in the Standings.

Team UM Alumni (SLA Insurance) – Currently in 9th with 9 points.

Just need a bit more time. That simple really. The UM Alumni group is at a bit of a disadvantage in terms of team chemistry early on in the season as many of them are just meeting each other for the first time.. As their continuity grows so will the wins.. Just give them a bit more time…

That’s it for this week. Have a great holiday and see you next Monday Night!
