Updated: August 6, 2015

The Regular Season is officially in the rear view mirror and the Playoff Bracket is all set!  The Battle of the Undefeateds went down this past Tuesday Night and ended with the Rookie squad Team Foreman finishing the season at a perfect 7-0 to earn themselves a BYE to the Final4. What an incredible debut season.. More on that later.  This week we’re going to Preview the Opening Rounds of the Playoffs.  First, here’s the Weekly Highlight Video!

The Full Bracket can be viewed here.  Just as a reminder.. The Playoffs are a single-elimination tournament.. The #1 Seed Team Foreman received a BYE to the Final4.  The 7 and 8 seeds will take part in the Opening Round Game with the Winner earning a spot in the Quarterfinals where they take on the #2 Seed Team Maione.  Next week, we’ll also have the 3/6 and 4/5 Games.. With the Winners heading to the Final4 as well.  OK Let’s Preview!

Opening Round 1 – 8 Teams Remain

7. Team Free Agent (popchips) v. 8. Team Diamond (VIP Express Limo) – Winner plays 2. Team Maione in Elite8

In each League there’s always one upset that people look back to and say, “can you believe it?”.. Whoever comes out of this Opening Round contest with their Playoff life still alive will face 2. Team Maione who is coming off of their first Loss of the Season.. If any doubt were to creep into their heads it would be now.. These Teams have a chance, they really do..

First things first, they have to get past one another.. They battled about a month ago and in that Game, the Free Agents grabbed their first W of the season in a 4pt contest..  Both Teams are evenly matched and it will come down to who can make more open jumpers.. Both Teams have the ability to get hot and if one of them catch fire it could be the difference between advancing.  Excited to see both Teams bring it!  The Winner will not have much time to celebrate as they’ll have to take the court right after v. 2. Team Maione.  Good Luck!

Opening Round 2 – 7 Teams Remain

2. Team Maione (Dr. Jacob D.D.S.) v. Winner of 7/8

Rough week for the formerly Undefeated Team Maione.. We try not to blend Leagues here as they do act as separate entities but on Monday Night, Team Maione was bounced in the Sweet16 of the Chicago Men’s Summer All Sports League.. They lost on a 3ball in the closing seconds. Just rough. To follow-up, on Tuesday Night, the buzzsaw that is Team Foreman was waiting.. First time, in the 6-year run of All Sports Series that Team Maione has dropped Hoops Games on back to back nights.. You know what that means for this perennial powerhouse?  They’ve gotten all their losses out of the way.. They are 3 Wins away from grabbing another All Sports Crown.. They’ve rattled off 3 in a row countless times.. They are still among the favorites here and anyone who thinks a couple losses will get them down, does not know this bunch.. They are hungry and can’t wait to get back on the court against whoever wins the 7/8 Game.. A spot in the Final4 is on the line.

3. Team Shamberg (Teplitz & Bell) v. 6. Team LoadDelivered (Camp Ojibwa)

These two squads met all the way back in June and saw Team Shamberg get the W pretty handedly.. Now, a lot has changed since then and there’s no telling what can happen when the bright lights of the Playoffs are shining down.. Either of these Teams have enough to get to the Championship Game but only one of the can move on the Final4.. Team Shamberg has really been excellent all season long, with their only losses coming at the hands of the top 2 Teams.. Team LoadDelivered has been a bit more up and down but their best is as good as anyone’s.. This could steal the show on Tuesday Night…Good Luck!

4. Team Sider (Alternative) v. 5. Team Harris (Kelly Parker HC)

This is the Game that everyone should be looking at as Game of the Night. These two squads know each other very well and have met numerous times in the past couple of years during various Hoops Leagues.. A couple weeks back Team Sider got a 1pt W over Team Harris in a Game that obviously could have gone either way.. Everyone was hoping we could see a rematch and when the Bracket came out. There is was in the 4/5 Game for us.. Both Teams know how hard it is to earn Playoff Ws in All Sports Series and true opportunities to grab the Crown don’t present themselves often.. Both Teams have taken losses that they’d rather forget this season.. Make no mistake though, the Winner of this Game has as good a shot as any to knock of #1 Team Foreman, which is exactly what they’ll need to do in the Final4.  Expect a methodical pace in this one.. Both Teams will cherish their possessions.. Can’t wait for this one.  Good Luck!

1. Team Foreman – BYE to Final4

What more can be said about Team Foreman?  In their debut season, they’ve run the table.. Something only a handful of Teams have done and never a first-year group.. They finish the Regular Season at 7-0 and by every sense of the word, have earned the #1 Seed and a BYE to the Final4.  That means they are just two more Ws away from hoisting the Crown in their Rookie campaign.. Just incredible.. They will take on the Winner of the 4. Team Sider and 5. Team Harris Game on the League’s final night.. A win in that Game brings them to the Championship Game.. They can now take an extra week, heal up, strategize and get ready to finish the job. Congrats!

That’s it for this week. Have a great weekend and see you at the Playoffs!
