2015 Chicago Summer Hoops – Week 3 (July 7)

Updated: July 9, 2015

…and then there were 2.  Undefeated Teams left that is.  Through 3 Weeks, two of our eight squads have yet to taste defeat.. More on them in the Chicago Summer Hoops Power Rankings powered by Lawyer Stephen Le Brocq below. First, here’s the Weekly Highlight Video! OK Let’s Rank ’em!

Power Rankings

1. Team Maione (Dr. Jacob D.D.S.) – 3-0, Currently tied for 1st

Before the season, had you polled Players in the Summer Hoops League that have participated in All Sports Series about the final Undefeated Teams.. Team Maione would have likely been the most popular answer.  Expectations are high but that should not temper excitement about their hot start. They’ve taken care of business three straight weeks and against some of the best competition the League has to offer. They’ve won Games and without playing their absolute best.  They’ll face familiar HP foes Team Sider next week.

2. Team Foreman (Worth Sports) – 3-0, Currently tied for 1st

Now, to go back to the question posed in Team Maione’s section above.. Not many would have guessed Team Foreman would be the other Undefeated Team through 3 weeks and that would just be a testament to their “Rookie status.”  It’s very rare for a new crew to come through and for a lack of a better term, dominate, in their first few All Sports Series Games. That’s exactly what Team Foreman has done however.  They’ve had different Players step-up in different weeks and that more than anything is the most exciting thing about them.  They obviously can fill it up and they are showing Championship-caliber depth.  They’ll face their toughest test to date next week with #3…

3. Team Shamberg (Teplitz & Bell) – 2-1, Currently in 3rd

Team Shamberg showed more in a Loss last Tuesday than many can show in a Win.  They led for much of the first half and gave #1 Team Maione everything they could handle.. When the Game came to an end, they didn’t come away with the W, but they did come away with the knowledge they can play with the very best this League has to offer.  No time to dwell either.. They have the other Undefeated #2 Team Foreman next Tuesday in what will finish their toughest stretch of the Regular Season.

4. Team Free Agent (popchips) – 1-2, Currently tied for 4th

Last week, it was mentioned how Team Free Agent had already completed the toughest part of their schedule and all they needed was just a bit more time to gel.. Well, they proved us right this past Tuesday Night.  They picked up their first W as a unit in All Sports Series against Team Diamond and it looks like they are really ready to turn the corner. They’ll go for 2 in a row next week against Team LoadDelivered.

5. Team Harris (Kelly Parker Home Collective) – 1-2, Currently tied for 4th

They had an abnormal start to the Season as they normally get out to hot starts.. The schedule did them no favors as they went face to face with the top 2 Teams in the first 2 weeks, but now they are past that and their depth is back.  They’ve rounded out the Roster and it seems like they are back to the “Team Harris” we’ve come to know and expect.  This is a dangerous squad moving forward and it wouldn’t be surprising to see them run the table.

Rest of the Pack (Alphabetical Order)

Team Diamond (VIP Express Limo) – 0-3, Currently in 8th

Mike Gleason poured in 28 for Team Diamond and it’s performances like those that should have them hopeful for a late-season surge.  Again, it’s tough to navigate through your first All Sports Series season and not everyone can be Team Foreman.  This group is going to get Ws. Plural. Just a matter of time.  Not worried at all.

Team LoadDelivered (CampOjibwa) – 1-2, Currently tied for 4th

Ran into a desperate Team Harris squad that knew they needed to turn the tide after an 0-2 start.  Wrong place at the wrong time for them. They showed in Week 1 that they are a capable bunch and if Tyler Geocaris can keep scoring 27 a night they are going to be just fine. Week 4 has them facing Team Free Agent as both Teams look to climb back to .500.

Team Sider (Alternative) – 1-2, Currently tied for 4th

This group may take a few more Ls in the Regular Season.  Frankly, this group is Championship or bust.  They will take the next few weeks to tweak rotations and continue to mesh new with old.. Their record isn’t showing what they are truly made of right now.. Some Teams may be spooked by that but not this Group.. When all is said and done, Team Sider, will have a very big hand in who the Champs are.

That’s it for us this week. Have a great weekend and see you Tuesday Night!
