Power Rankings

1. Team AEPi (Classic Lanes Red) – Currently tied for 1st with 15 points.

Where to begin but with the Reigning and Defending Champions of the Bloomington League!? These guys are trying to join a very exclusive list in going Back2Back.. Even fewer Teams have been able to Repeat in the first two seasons of the League.. They would only be the 3rd Team in All Sports Series history to do that.. Long way away but Team AEPi came out firing once again on Wednesday Night led by Captain Seth Cooley and All Sports Series vet Matt Lowy.  Captain Seth went for 16 and Lowy scored a crazy 31 points. He was on fire from beyond the arc and they pulled away quickly from the ATO JR squad who was very strong a year ago..  As luck would have it, in our StudentCity Game of the Week they will battle it out in Softball next week with #2…

2. Team ATO SR (The Gourmet Cafe Blue) – Currently tied for 1st with 15 points.

That’s right folks, to headline our Week 2 slate we have the first clash of #1 v. #2 this Season. Team ATO SR who is fresh off the Game of the Week last week.. More on that in a second.. They will have a chance to not just knock off the Defending Champs on the softball diamond and earn some retribution for their Final4 Game a year ago, but also claim the #1 spot in the process.. Can’t get much bigger in that when it’s still September.. Getting back to Week 1.. They Won in TRIPLE OVERTIME over Team ZBT in easily the best played Game of the Night. It was a shame either Team needed to leave with an L but Team ATO SR did what it needed to do to earn the W. DJ Deolitsis led the scoring with 16 for Captain Jake Grossinger’s squad.  They are fresh off a Final4 appearance in the gignatic Suburbs College/Prep League.. They are hungry for a Crown!

3. Team Delts JR-SR (StudentCity Gold) – Currently tied for 1st with 15 points.

Led by Leland Pew and Matt Braschi the JR-SR contingent of Team Delts is back and looking to finish what they started a year ago.. Last fall, these guys were at or near the top for seemingly the entire Regular Season before faltering a bit down the stretch and bowing out in the Elite8 round of the Playoffs. They have made some slight changes to the Roster and are ready to go grab the Crown. That quest got off to a great start on Wednesday Night as they picked up a Hoops W. Matt Braschi led the scoring charge with 18 on the night. They will get ATO SO1 next week in Softball as they look to keep pace with whoever wins the AEPi v. ATO SR contest.

4. Team Pi Kapps (Black Canyon BakeHouse Black) – Currently tied for 1st with 15 points.

Not a bad start for a Rookie squad.. Coming in at #4 in your first Power Rankings is no joke. They earned their placement though after a hard-fought Week 1 W over Team Theta Chi. Matt McAndrews was the second highest scorer in the League on Wednesday with 27.  Pi Kapps also possesses something that very few other Teams in the League have.. A Captain who holds an All Sports Series Crown. In 2015, Captain John Phipps helped lead his crew to the Suburbs College/Prep League Championship in what was their Rookie season.. An unheard of feat at the time.. He might have the Roster to pull that off once again…

5. Team Sammy (popchips) – Currently tied for 1st with 15 points.

Another Final4 squad from a year ago.. Jake Brody and co. are back for their Senior campaign and looking to make good on what they started a year ago.. They got a Game away from the Championship before bowing out to ZBT.. They will be looking for revenge there for sure.. As for Week 1, Captain Brody had 21 to lead scorers in this Game and helped push his Team past ATO SO1 by 16 points.. It was an impressive first week.. They will get another taste of ATO next week in softball, but this time it will be ATO JR.

6. Team Delts SO (BBQ Pit) – Currently tied for 1st with 15 points.

Many are well aware of the success the Delts house had in Bloomington last year.. No surprise to see that The JR-SR squad is ranked at #3 following Week 1.. Well, the League got even tougher as the Delts house is bringing a second Team to the party this season.. A sophomore squad led by Johnny Pagano (brother of All Sports Series alum Marc).  They amassed the highest point total in Week 1 and looked very good in the process. They are going to be a deep squad and give Teams fits this coming season.. Grant and Brett Miller combined for 38 points in the Win. Not a bad start, for these brothers (potentially of the same mother, confirmation to follow).. They take on Team Theta Chi next week!

7. Team ZBT (Classic Lanes Gray) – Currently tied for 7th with 0 points.

This is a classic “Buy Low” for Team ZBT.. A year ago, Captain Jack Lazar’s crew shocked the world and got the Championship Game against AEPi as the #8 overall seed.  They are back in 2016 and this year want to take the whole thing.. Now, in Week 1 they were a part of the Game of the Week.. They went toe to toe with Team ATO SR and it went to Triple OT! They didn’t come out on top but they showed that they are going to be a major player once again this season.. Not that they needed it, but this is going to fuel them even more.. They get #4 Pi Kapps in Softball next week!

8. Team Theta Chi (The Gourmet Cafe Red) – Currently tied for 8th with 0 points.

Final Team into the Rankings this week is another Rookie squad — Team Theta Chi — who dropped their opening contest to #4 Pi Kapps on Wednesday Night. In the Loss, they showed that they are deeply athletic bunch that should do some real damage as the season progresses. Nate Ritchie led the way with 18 for them. They look to pick up the first W in their Franchise’s history on Wednesday Night in Softball against Team Delts SO.

Rest of the Pack (Alphabetical Order)

Team ATO JR (Black Canyon BakeHouse Gray) – Currently tied for 7th with 0 points.

Back again in 2016 is the ATO JR crew led by John Buck.. A year ago this group finished first in the Regular Season.  They got knocked out early in the Elite8 in an upset but they clearly have a ton of talent on the Roster and will be back up and into the Rankings in no time.. This is a group you do not want to sleep on.. Jacob Brown had 14 and Chris Drummond had 13 in the Loss to AEPi on Wednesday Night. They look to get back on track against Team Sammy in Softball in Week 2.

Team ATO SO1 (SLA Insurance) – Currently tied for 7th with 0 points.

This is one of two groups that have been formed from the ATO Sophomores.. ATO SO1 is led by Daniel Chumbley. Kris Lopez had 12 points as their leading scorer. All Sports Series vets Tommy Rudman and John Ciancio are also on this promising young roster.. They fell to Team Sammy in Week 1, no shame in that.. They look to rebound against #3 Team Delts JR-SR next week!

Team ATO SO2 (StudentCity Lime) – Currently tied for 7th with 0 points.

Similar to the squad above.. The ATO SO2 squad, led by Jack Klein, is half of the ATO Sophomore class and they have a lot of talent to go around.. They had a tough matchup with one of the favorites, Delts JR-SR, but it will get them ready for the rest of the run.. Joey Roberts was their high score in double digits on Wednesday Night. They look for their first All Sports Series W against Phi Sig on Wednesday Night!

Team Phi Sig (cea Study Abroad) – Currently tied for 7th with 0 points.

That’s it for Week 1. Good Luck to everyone on Wednesday Night for Softball!
