2016 Bloomington – Week 4 (Oct. 5)

Updated: October 13, 2016

Flag Football (finally) took the stage in Bloomington on Wednesday Night for Week 4 action. The weather couldn’t hold us down this week.  We saw Team Delts JR/SR continue on their path of destruction as they are still perfect in the Standings. We also saw ATO really clean up with 3 of their 4 Teams grabbing Wins on Wednesday Night!

Power Rankings

1. Team Delts JR/SR (StudentCity Gold) – Currently tied for 1st with 78 points.

They just keep rolling right along.  They are the only Team that can still get 100% of the points this Season. That is pretty crazy as we are through 4 weeks of Games at this point. Their Offense was really something to see on Wednesday Night as they took down Defending Champs Team AEPi 42-20. Mike McMahan accounted for 5 scores and hit Brendan Thomas for two of them in the Win.  Volleyball is up next in Week 5. Can they keep it going?

2. Team ATO SR (The Gourmet Café Blue) – Currently in 2nd with 60 points.

A Week after falling in the Rankings, the ATO SRs made a STATEMENT with a gigantic W over previous #3 Delts SO.  They won by a score of 42-0. WOW. DJ Deolitsis had 5 TDs in this one. John Repplinger hauled in a couple of those.. These guys are a perfect 3-0 in head to head contests this Fall. Their lone set back was last week’s Dodgeball night and that is long in the rear-view at this point. They have a chance of catching Team Delts JR/SR in the Standings this coming week if they do well in Volleyball!

3. Team Pi Kapps (Bakehouse Black) – Currently in 3rd with 58 points.

Small step back this week for Team Pi Kapps who suffered their first Loss of the Season at the hands of Team Sammy on the gridiron Wednesday Night. They were in it until the end but just couldn’t get the go-ahead score. Jeremy Champine accounted for two scores on the night. This is a group that is going to factor into the Championship one way or another.. They just have that look. Either a Team they are going to compete for it or a Team will have to go through them to get there near the end.  Volleyball with the rest of the League up next for them.

4. Team Sammy (popchips) – Currently in 4th with 35 points.

Biggest Win of the Season thus far for Team Sammy. They got the 24-18 W in Flag Football over #3 Team Pi Kapps to dish them their first L of the Season. Jeremy Loewenstein tossed a few TDs and one went to Andy Wallach with and another to Sam Lansat.  When at full-strength, these guys are as good as any in the League. They currently sit a couple of Wins behind the top Teams in the Standings but they are a veteran group that can do damage from the middle of the pack in the Playoffs. They are a real sleeper candidate to take the whole thing in November.

5. Team ATO SO1 (SLA Insurance) – Currently in 6th with 32 points.

6. Team ATO SO2 (StudentCity Lime) – Currently in 7th with 26 points.

These two groups are going to get recapped together this week. Both earned the 20 points in the Standings after Flag Football this past week after getting their first points of the Season in Dodgeball during Week 3. They both moved up two spots in the Rankings as well. These groups didn’t get off to the fast start they envisioned but they certainly have found a rhythm now and it looks like both are going to be much better in the second half of the season. With Volleyball looming, each Team has the possibility of really jumping a few Teams ahead of them in the Power Rankings and Standings.. If they can keep up the momentum.

7. Team Delts SO (BBQ Pit) – Currently in 5th with 33 points.

They surely would like to forget Week 4.  It was a rough outing at the hands of #2 Team ATO SR.  It happens.. It was their first Flag Football Game as a unit and Flag Football more than any other sport really does take some time to get some chemistry with one another… ATO SR has played in several All Sports Series Leagues and they know full well how to score on the Offensive end when timing is such a key factor. They just need to put this one behind them and get ready to come back for Volleyball in Week 5!

8. Team AEPi (Classic Lanes Red) – Currently in 9th with 15 points.

The Defending Champs come in at #8 to close the Rankings this week.  Since getting the Week 1 Win in Hoops they have not been able to grab any more points in the Standings. Most recently they fell to Undefeated #1 Team Delts JR/SR..  We see this a lot with groups who are Defending the Crown.. They are “marked men” and get everyone’s best each week.. They also have the feeling in the back of their heads, “we’ve been there before” and the Playoff seed next to their name, just doesn’t matter as much to them as other Teams. They’ll turn it on when the bright lights of the Playoffs come on.. Not worried about the Champs.

Rest of the Pack (Alphabetical Order)

Team ATO JR (Black Canyon Bakehouse Gray) – Currently tied for 10th with 0 points.

Ryan Saco tossed a few TDs in their Football Loss on Wednesday Night. Hitting multiple receivers for a score. They just couldn’t get enough stops on the Defensive end to get the Win.  These guys are better than what they are showing in the Standings right now and you can bet that they will bounce back quickly.. They were strong in Volleyball a year ago and that is the perfect opportunity for them to start gathering momentum for the second half of the season!

Team Phi Sig (cea Study Abroad) – Currently tied for 10th with 0 points.

Team Theta Chi (The Gourmet Café Red) – Currently tied for 9th with 0 points.

Team ZBT (Classic Lanes Gray) – Currently in 8th with 25 points.

That’s it for Week 4. Good Luck in Volleyball!
