2016 Chicago Co-Ed – Week 4 (June 27)

Updated: June 30, 2016

The Chicago Co-Ed took on Indoor Soccer for the first time ever on Monday Night and with it came some very interesting results!  Through 4 Weeks, Team Stratton still sits atop both the Power Rankings and the Standings as the only undefeated remaining!  Here’s a Link to the Weekly Highlight Video

One more thing before we get to the Power Rankings, our MVP Sponsor for the Chicago Summer Leagues is none other than Live Clean Chicago! They are the best Cleaning Service in Chicago bar none and more importantly you can trust them to clean your place (even if you aren’t home). Myself and my family (Holden) use them frequently!  One more brief mention as it’s likely you will want to know..   The Cubs are officially BACK and  Wrigley View Rooftop has you covered! There is no better experience for getting Cubs action while enjoying the perks of all you can eat/drink!

OK Let’s Rank ‘Em!

Power Rankings

1. Team Stratton (Chicago Trolley) – Currently in 1st with 80 points.

4 Weeks in and still perfect.. Not a bad first half from the Rookies Team Stratton.  Their latest W was against Team Mortier where they won by a Touchdown in Indoor Soccer.  Fitz Stratton led all scorers on Monday Night with 6 Goals. SIX!  Jon Williams had a couple as well. It seems like they can compete in just about everything and they have no plans of coming down from the top spot.. As we head into the July 4th break they are certainly the story of the first half. When we return on July 11 they will take on #2 Team Lake in the Live Clean Chicago Game of the Week! Volleyball style.

2. Team Lake (Orunje) – Currently in 2nd with 66 points.

Team Lake is up to #2, their highest ranking ever, after their big Indoor Soccer W on Monday Night. They defeated Team Loewenstein decisively. They got Goals contributed from multiple players including Sam Ofman who is putting together an All Star caliber season for Team Lake. They’ve had a tremendous first half and if not for Team Stratton they’d be the #1 squad in the first half.  Coming back after the July 4 break they will play in the Game of the Week and try to take the #1 spot from Team Stratton!

3. Team Hakimian (Hakimian Imports) – Currently in 4th with 49 points.

Team Hakimian dropped their first Game of the Season on Monday Night.  No reason to panic as they’ve been virtually untouchable until this point.  They played a very tough soccer squad in Team Reef on Monday Night. Benny Lalez had a couple goals for the crew in their first every co-ed soccer Game. Post July 4 they are going to have a Championship rematch from a year ago when they go toe to toe with Defending Champs Team Wolter in Softball!

4. Team UM Alumni (Al’s Beef on Western) – Currently in 3rd with 54 points.

They continue to rise and it’s very well deserved! The Univ. of Michigan Alumni have been stringing together wins now and are up to the third spot in the Standings as we wrap up the first half of the Summer.  They got what is easily the biggest W in Franchise history on Monday Night when they defeated Defending Champs Team Wolter in Indoor Soccer. Alex Clisham had a huge performance with four goals. They have Team Gordon on July 11.

5. Team Mortier (Dr. Jacob D.D.S.) – Currently in 5th with 46 points.

We’ve gotten used to seeing Team Mortier getting Ws week after week so it was a bit of a surprise to see them fall this past Monday Night. That’s the sign of a great team.. Everyone falls once or twice during All Sports Series.. They are going to be just fine and will definitely bounce back shortly. It was a rough matchup with #1 Team Stratton and in seemingly one of their strongest sports..  Jamie Lazar scored a Goal on Monday Night for Team Mortier. When we return from break they should have a great Game with Team Sternberg in Softball.

6. Team Reef (TOW Caps) – Currently tied for 6th with 34 points.

Biggest W of their short All Sports Series careers bar none.. They defeated previously undefeated Team Hakimian in Indoor Soccer on Monday Night. Ali Heller had FIVE Goals in this one to help her team prevail. This was gigantic not only for their confidence but it also springs them up the leaderboard as well. They will face Team Loewenstein when the second half of the season begins on July 11.

Rest of the Pack (Alphabetical Order)

Team Gordon (the Karyn Collection) – Currently tied for 9th with 15 points.

Team Gordon fell to a hungry Team Sternberg squad on Monday Night in their first Indoor Soccer Game. Mike Kowalczyk managed to score a goal in this one.. The same court where he led the League in Floor Hockey Goals in the Spring of 2015.  They will have an important Game when they come back from the July 4 holiday.. The UM Alumni who are now up to 3rd in the Standings and #4 in the Rankings will be waiting in another round of Volleyball for them.

Team Loewenstein (Teplitz & Bell) – Currently tied for 9th with 15 points.

Team Lake is an emerging power in the Co-Ed League.. They are all the way up to #2 now in the Rankings.. Team Loewenstein just happened to catch them while they are streaking and in Indoor Soccer which appeared to be a very strong sport for them.  Team Loewenstein is going to be just fine despite the slow start.. Many of their Players are still just getting to know one another.. Every Team makes the Playoffs and come August they will be much more accustomed with each other.. On July 11 they will face Team Reef in an important Volleyball matchup!

Team Sternberg (SLA Insurance) – Currently tied for 6th with 34 points.

This is the Team Sternberg that we are used to seeing in the various All Sports Series Leagues around Chicago.  They looked very impressive on Monday Night. Captain Sam led the way with two Goals and co-Captain Dani helped get the group’s morale in a great place before the Game.. Which surely helped lead to the W.  They tallied a 9-1 W and if they can follow up with another W on July 11 they will be Ranked in no time.. They get #5 Team Mortier in Softball after the break.

Team Wolter (Danley’s Garage) – Currently in 8th with 18 points.

Last but certainly not least (again alphabetical..) are the Defending Champs Team Wolter.. They are experiencing a bit of a “Championship hangover” and we’ve seen it time and time again.. Here’s the deal.. They are still the same fantastic bunch that won the whole thing a year ago.. They are experiencing some adversity but all great teams manage to get knocked down a bit before making a valiant comeback.. They are going to be just fine. The July 4 break is coming at a great time for them. They have time to shake off the rocky first half and come back focused for the stretch run and path to Back2Back Crowns. Emmalie Beinlich and Ben Carlin got into the scoring action last week as well.. When they resume on July 11 they will take on #3 Team Hakimian in Softball — a Championship rematch from a year ago!

That’s it for Week 4. Everyone please have a safe and fun Fourth! See you on July 11!
