Power Rankings

1. Team Guggenheim (Dr. Jacob D.D.S.) – 2-0

Firmly entrenched in the #1 spot through Week 2 is Team Guggenheim.  Through two weeks they are averaging the most points scored in the League and are allowing the second fewest.. That is a recipe for Winning and by a large margin at that.. This past week they defeated Team Nolan who had been 1-0 coming into the contest.. Their Offense didn’t even need to really get going in this one as the Defense set the tone for the entire Game.. Both Charlmers and Jeffrey Oscar scored. Get used to that.. However, both TDs were actually on the Defensive side of the ball as they took INTs to the house.  They will get Team Wolter in Week 3.

2. Team Massel (Al’s Beef ON WESTERN) – 2-0

The other undefeated Team in the League is Team Massel.  They haven’t blown Teams out like Team Guggenheim has through two weeks but they have gotten a couple of hard-fought Ws.. Those tend to be more valuable come Playoff time as those late-game situations when the pressures on always appear in the Playoffs. Brad Tivin caught a couple of TDs in this one and that along with great Defense was enough to seal the W over Team Murphy.   They will take part in the Live Clean Chicago Game of the Week on Thursday Night when they take on #3…

3. Team Apuli (Sarkis Cafe) – 1-1

..to finish the statement from above.. #3 Team Apuli will take on #2 Team Massel in the Game of the Week on Thursday Night.. This will be one of the bigger Games of the season’s first half.. Getting back to last week’s action.. Captain Justin took the reigns at QB this week and seriously delivered with 6 TDs to lead them to their first victory of the season. Jake Miller caught a couple of TDs from the guard position as they showed every position on the field is dangerous when Team Apuli is cooking.. This is what we expected to see from them in the pre-season and was nice to see them shake-off the heartbreaker in Week 1 against Team Rasky. They will have a tough one up next, but when they play like this, it’ll be difficult for anyone to beat them…

4. Team Schwartz (SLA Insurance) – 1-1

First W of the Season and it was an impressive one.  Ryan Morris was great at QB on this night and really moved the ball down the field well against one of the better Defenses in the League. It was Team Rasky, a week ago, who defeated Team Apuli in Week 1.. Alex Rubin caught a couple TDs here and Captain Matt caught one in the endzone as well to get in on the scoring fun.  With #2 Massel and #3 Apuli playing each other on Thursday Night there’s a real chance for these guys to be #3 by next week.. That’s if they can take care of business against the hungry Team Saltzberg crew.

5. Team Rasky (Biaggi’s) – 1-1

There’s usually one Team who winds up in close Games every week.. No matter the opponent and Game situation, it just seems that with a few minutes to go, the Game will be on the line.. Through a couple of weeks, Team Rasky is well on their way to be that squad. In Week 1 they snapped up a victory in the closing seconds vs. current #3 Team Apuli and then this past week they were in it until the end against current #4 Team Schwartz but just couldn’t repeat the magic of a week ago..  They are going to be tested once again in Week 3 when they take on a fellow 1-1 squad Team Hrusocky who is fresh off their first W of the season. These Games between 1-1 Teams are very big for Playoff seeding even if its early in the season.. Should be a fun one.

6. Team Nolan (Wrigley View Rooftop) – 1-1

Had a very tough matchup with #1 Team Guggenheim on Thursday Night.  It’s going to prove to be very difficult for any Team in the League to really get much Offense going against their athletic Defense. They are still in good shape at 1-1 with their hardest Game of the Season now behind them as well.. They are going to get a hungry Team Murphy squad in Week 3 who is searching for their first W of the season.. A win should put Team Nolan back in the Top-5 next week.

7. Team Hrusocky (Campus View) – 1-1

Climbing up and into the Rankings this week is Team Hrusocky who secured their first W of the season last Thursday Night against Team Saltzberg.  Birthday Boy Ross Lehrman grabbed the reigns at QB and sliced and diced all night to really give another dimension to their offensive attack.  He’d throw for 4 scores on the night. Captain Brian caught one of those and also returned a Pick-6 to the house.. Ari Nemetz also got in on the Pick-6 fun in Week 2. They looked significantly better than in Week 1 and they should continue to improve each week as their chemistry grows.  Tough one with #4 Team Rasky up next.

Rest of the Pack (Alphabetical Order)

Team Murphy (ShopHouse) – 0-2

They exit Week 2 still searching for their first W but their are positives for them to look at through their first couple of Games, whether they see them or not..  Their Defense is improving with each half that they play.. From Week 1 to Week 2 they are more comfortable and flying around to create turnovers. They haven’t been able to capitalize on them just yet but the Offensive side of the ball always takes longer for Rookie squads to get it going.. Time for the QB is an issue that they will get corrected.. When they do, this Team has the size and ability to really get on a roll..

Team Saltzberg (Live Clean Chicago) – 0-2

Echoing the sentiments about Team Murphy above.. There are positives to take from their start even at 0-2. They are gaining chemistry and the second half against Team Hrusocky on Thursday Night was easily the best that they played yet.. Shaun Albert tossed a couple of TDs in his debut at QB. They have yet to play with their full roster and once they do, their talent should shine through way more.. They look to get their first W of the season against current #4 Team Schwartz next week!

Team Wolter (Schweitzer Title Agency) – 1-1

Need to re-affirm that this section of the Power Rankings is done alphabetically.. Team Wolter would have come in at #8 this Week if we had such Rankings.. They looked great in Week 1 during their W over Team Murphy but fell back this week against an angry Team Apuli squad who lost in the final seconds during Week 1. We have a ton of Teams locked in at 1-1 and over the next few weeks they will be jockeying for position.. Team Wolter will look to climb back into the Standings and put everyone in the League on notice when they take on #1 Team Guggenheim in Week 3!

That’s it for this week. See everyone Thursday Night!
