Updated: October 3, 2016

Finally started to feel a bit like Fall for the first time on Thursday Night but that didn’t stop most of the Top-5 from continuing to churn out Ws.. One of the Top-5 did falter though and we’ll have a bit of shake-up in the Rankings.  Team Guggenheim got to 4-0 on the night and will remain at #1 for another Week. More on all of this below!

Here’s the Link to the Weekly Highlight Video!

Power Rankings

1. Team Guggenheim (Dr. Jacob D.D.S.) – 4-0

On Thursday Night they got to 4-0.  They got the Win on the heels of not 1, not 2 but THREE Pick-6s which accounted for all of their scoring on the night. The Oscars accounted for all three of those. The Defense was not just great in the secondary but the Defensive Line was creating pressure for the entire Game. Matthew Kornblatt had a couple sacks in this one. It was enough to defeat Team Murphy 21-14.  For the second straight week they lost a Player for the season though and their phenomenal depth has deteriorated. We wish David Chaimovitz a get better soon and a Congratulations on his upcoming wedding! They will play in the Live Clean Chicago Game of the Week against #3 Team Schwartz this coming Thursday!

2. Team Apuli (Sarkis Cafe) – 3-1

Team Apuli sticks at #2 after notching their 3rd straight Win on Thursday Night.  They are really rounding in to form now as they have defeated their opponents by a combined score of 91-20 in those 3 Games. Michael Glink accounted for 5 TDs in this one.. 3 were on the ground and two through the air including one to Captain Justin.  They look to make it 4 in a row against Team Saltzberg in Week 5.

3. Team Schwartz (SLA Insurance) – 3-1

Up to #3 this Week and with their highest Rank of the Season is Team Schwartz.  They won by 20 points against Team Wolter in Week 4 and they are looking like one of the favorites to take the Crown in November. QB Ryan Morris leads the League in TDs with 16 (for an avg. of 4 per week) and his favorite target Alex Rubin has 11 TDs, easily the most among non-QBs in the League. Their Defense has also been smothering these past couple of weeks. Just like Team Apuli, they dropped one in Week 1, and are now sporting a 3-Game Win Streak. Can they make it 4 against Undefeated #1 Team Guggenheim!?

4. Team Rasky (Biaggi’s) – 3-1

Keeping pace with the other top squads was Team Rasky who got a big-time W over Team Massel on Thursday Night. They looked very impressive in doing so and now hold some really key Ws against Teams that they may need tiebreakers over when the Playoff seeds are determined. Cody Davis threw a couple of TDs and ran in another. Brian Gutt and Captain Alex hauled in the TDs. They now look ahead to a Game with #5 Team Nolan who trail them by just a Game in the Standings.

5. Team Nolan (Wrigley View Rooftop) – 2-2

Rounding out the Top-5 this week is the fifth and final Team who grabbed a Win on Thursday Night.. Team Nolan. Sam Winegardner threw 3 TDs in their W over Team Saltzberg in Week 4. This Game had a lot of key plays and they created enough of them to get back to .500. This is a group that is still gaining chemistry and each time they get to take the field they are making progress. Remember, many of them have only met a couple of times.. Come Playoff time they are going to be a much better Team.  They have a chance to keep rising in the Ranks when they take on #4 Team Rasky in Week 5.

6. Team Massel (Al’s Beef On WESTERN) – 2-2

After starting 2-0, they have dropped two Games in a row and have dipped in the Power Rankings as a result.  There is no reason to push the panic button. They are still .500 and a Game back of all the Teams tied for 2nd in the Standings.  They even hold a Win over #3 Team Schwartz for future tiebreaker scenarios.. They are fine. They lost to a very good Team Rasky bunch on Thursday Night and they just need to look ahead to what’s next.. That would be Team Wolter in Week 5.

7. Team Murphy (ShopHouse) – 1-3

They had the Undefeated #1 Team Guggenheim on the ropes going into the second half but they just couldn’t close out the W. Jack Murphy hit Marty Finnegan for two Touchdowns for the Offensive side of the ball. The Defense really played excellently for the entire Game. They shutout Team Guggenheim for 40 minutes. They got great pressure and forced some turnovers. This was the best we’ve seen a Team play against #1 Guggenheim all season. If they can do this the rest of the way they are going to be a force.. Team Hrusocky is next.

Rest of the Pack (Alphabetical Order)

Team Hrusocky (Campus View) – 1-3

They won’t look back on this week as their best but it happens to everyone. They had an off night against #2 Team Apuli. They were also without a few of their key contributors and you have to wonder how things would have been had they been at full strength. They will take on #7 Team Murphy in Week 5 and look to jump back into the Rankings with a Win in that one.

Team Saltzberg (Live Clean CHI) – 1-3

They had a chance until the very end of the Game against Team Nolan on Thursday Night. It was a complete Game that they played and there were chances for them to really take the W. Shaun Albert hit Josh Adler for a couple of scores.  They’ll need to be at their best on Thursday Night if they are going to knock of #2 Team Apuli but it’s certainly doable. They are improving for sure.

Team Wolter (Schweitzer Title Agency) – 1-3

Remember, Alphabetical order for the Unranked Teams.. They would have likely been #8 this week.. They faced a tough Team Schwartz squad currently Ranked #3 this past Thursday.  They struggled to keep them out of the end zone.  Tim Boland had 3 Touchdown passes and Cory Stiles hauled in a couple of them. These guys are better than their record indicates and you expect them to turn it around quickly.  They have Team Massel next week.
