Playoff Preview

Opening Round – Single Elimination

7. Team Nelson (Rhoyal Decadence) v. 8. Team Kaplan (Theory)

These Two Teams met in Week 6 and Team Nelson was able to grab a 6-4 W which was enough to give them the #7 seed and keep Team Kaplan at #8 to start the Playoffs. Both Teams know each other well as several of them were actually Teammates a year ago on Team Free Agent.  Only one of these groups will be able to move on to the Quarterfinals and whoever it is needs to be ready to play a 2nd Game.. The Winner will have to take on 2. Team Harris immediately following this Opening Round Game.  Depth is going to extremely key on Sunday Afternoon.  This Game should be a close one and the Winner will certainly have momentum running at an all time high heading into the Quarters..

Quarterfinals – Single Elimination

2. Team Harris (Wrigley View Rooftop) v. Winner of 7/8

Team Harris enters as the #2 seed and are riding a 6-Game Winning Streak into the Playoffs. Their lone loss was against the Undefeated Team Robinson back in Week 1.. They won decisively over both Team Nelson and Team Kaplan in the Regular Season.. They will face the Winner of that Opening Round Game during the Quarterfinals this Sunday. They need to not look ahead to a potential Championship Rematch from a year ago that looms in the Semis.  They will have the luxury of being fully rested against whoever their Opponent will be but they will have to subdue the wave of momentum that Team will be riding.  Should be a fun few weeks for them.

3. Team Kowalczyk (popchips) v. 6. Team Weisel (SLA Insurance)

This is the tale of two very different stories.. On one hand you have the Defending Champs and #3 seed Team Kowalczyk. Then, on the other hand, you have #6 Team Weisel who are about to embark on their very first Playoff run in All Sports Series.  These Two Teams battled in Week 6, a Game that Team Kowalczyk won by double digits.. This Game should be closer.. A full strength Team Weisel is capable of knocking off the League’s best and that’s just what they will have to do to stave off Elimination.. For Team Kowalczyk, they want to wear the “Defending Champs” tag for another year and that all starts on Sunday.

4. Team Kandelman (StudentCity) v. 5. Team Holzman (Chicago Trolley)

Easily the best matchup of the Quarterfinals should be Kandelman and Holzman and it’s no surprise that comes in the 4/5 Game.. Both Teams have experienced highs in the Floor Hockey League but one of them will have their Season cut short on Sunday (we’ll actually have more opportunities to get Games in later in the Season, but in terms of the Playoffs)..  They played each other all the way back in Week 1 which saw Team Kandelman earn the 9-7 W.  Whoever wins this Game will go on to face #1 Team Robinson in the Semis.. This one can truly go either way…

1. Team Robinson (Schweitzer Title Agency) – BYE TO THE SEMIS

The luxury of an Undefeated Season means that Team Robinson can sit back and relax this coming Sunday and wait while 4 Teams get knocked out of the Playoffs before they even need to take the court again.. They will certainly have their eyes peeled on the scoreboard for the 4. Kandelman and 5. Holzman Game as they will face the Winner there in the Semis!  Congrats on the Regular Season title.

That’s it for the Preview. See everyone for Week 1 of the Playoffs on Sunday!
