2016 Chicago Floor Hockey – Week 3 (Mar. 6)

Updated: March 10, 2016

Week 3 will be looked back on as Championship Rematch Sunday.. Team Harris managed to exact some revenge for their thrilling 3-Game Championship series with Defending Champs Team Kowalczyk.  Team Harris got a convincing W on Sunday afternoon.  As we exit Week 3, we are also left with just 1 undefeated squad — Team Robinson — made it to 3-0.  The Rankings will certainly be shaken up a bit as a result..  Here’s the Weekly Highlight Video!  Also, if you have ever want to find any info on the League.. Go to Sport Specific Leagues > Chicago Floor Hockey.. Everything you’d need from Stats to Schedules to Standings etc. will be found there..

Power Rankings

1. Team Robinson (Schweitzer Title) – 3-0, Currently in 1st

Team Robinson stands alone as the only Undefeated Team left in the League following Week 3.  With that and their League Leading Goals against average they have earned the #1 spot.. They’ve won their last 2 Games by 10+ and remember in Week 1 defeated current #2 Team Harris 9-4.  Neville Patel had an impressive day on Sunday with 5 Goals and a helper as well.  Nick Andriacchi also had 6 points with 2 Goals and 4 Assists on Sunday.  These guys just have an incredibly deep roster and it seems each week someone else is stepping up.  They look to make it 4-0 against Team Nelson next Sunday.

2. Team Harris (Wrigley View Rooftop) – 2-1, Currently tied for 2nd

They’ve been waiting 10 long months for a taste of redemption against Team Kowalczyk and on Sunday they got it.  These two Teams will likely cross paths again in the Playoffs but for now Team Harris can at least be a little content with their slice of revenge.  Jason Shape and Alex Hayman both added 2 more goals to their season total and Jeremy Posner was awesome between the pipes with 22 saves on the day against the normally high-powered Kowalczyk attack.  They now turn their sights on the Rookie squad who is also 2-1, Team Weisel in Week 4.

3. Team Kowalczyk (popchips) – 2-1, Currently tied for 2nd

An unfamiliar feeling for the Defending Champs as they trailed for most of the Game with Team Harris and just couldn’t muster a comeback in the final period. They were a bit shorthanded and as the Game wore on the depth Team Harris had was just too much to overcome.. We’ve likely not seen the last of these Two Teams for the 2016 season and the next time they take the court together Playoff lives will be at stake.. Captain Mike still leaves Week 3 with the overall points and assists leads in the League. Brother Matt is tied for Most Goals with a dozen through 3 Games as well.. They look to bounce back and avoid their first ever back to back losses when they play Team Holzman in Week 4.

4. Team Kandelman (StudentCity)- 2-1, Currently tied for 2nd

Nice bounce back week for Team Kandelman in Week 3. Remember as Team Widen they were the #2 seed a year ago. They are among the favorites for the whole thing here..  Matthew Lee led with 6 goals and Captain Scott stood tall in net throughout. Brendan Casiano had one of the more impressive days in memory with 5 Goals and 6 assists.  Just nuts.  They try to start stringing together some Wins and stay near the top of the Standings as they go toe to toe with Team Kaplan in Week 4.

5. Team Weisel (SLA Insurance) – 2-1, Currently tied for 2nd

They took on Team Holzman on Sunday afternoon and came up a bit short in what turned into an extremely Offensive affair. They dropped the Game 17-12 but both Teams demonstrated they have enough to compete with the top tier in the League. Yosef Schwartz had both 3 Goals and 3 assists on Sunday. He is near the top for total points on the season with 13. Ben Kramer also had a hat trick and a couple of helpers as well.  Good Teams know how to bounce back and that’s we expect from the Rookies Team Weisel in Week 4..  They will certainly be pushed when they take on last year’s Runners-Up and current #2 Team Harris in the Wrigley View Rooftop Game of the Week!

Rest of the Pack (Alphabetical Order)

Team Holzman (Chicago Trolley) – 1-2, Currently in 6th

If they play the way they did on Sunday they will be Ranked following Week 4. 100%.  For those with short memories.. A bit of a reminder.. Team Holzman started off last year 0-2 before going on an absolute tear.. This year is starting to feel very similar.. They dropped their first 2 Games of 2016 but looked extremely impressive putting up 17 Goals on the previously unbeaten Team Weisel.  Seems they just need a couple of weeks to brush off the cobwebs.. Tyler Edwards was the leading scorer of the day with a gigantic 8 Goals and 3 assists. Wow.  Can they make it 2 in a row against the Defending Champs Team Kowalczyk next Sunday??

Team Kaplan (Theory) – 0-3, Currently tied for 7th

They’ve had a very difficult Schedule to start out the year and that has masked what is a very talented Team that just needs to get a few Games under their belt as a unit. They lost to #1 Team Robinson on Sunday afternoon. A fate that will likely happen for many this Spring.. They’ve also already faced the Defending Champs (Week 1).  So the Schedule will get easier with time..  They will take on a Team Kandelman squad that historically has been very strong. It will be a great barometer Game for Team Kaplan. Don’t be shocked if they pick up W #1 in Week 4.

Team Nelson (Rhoyal Decadence) – 0-3, Currently tied for 7th

They got the Offense going in a bit late in this Game and maybe that’s what they will need to turn the corner. Sam Jaber lit the light a couple times and captain Paul Nelson got a goal as well.  They obviously have work still to do but they are improving and they have another month to figure it out.. Plenty of time.  It won’t get any easier though this coming week as they take on #1 Team Robinson Sunday afternoon.

That’s it for Week 3.  Have a great week and see everyone Sunday afternoon!
