Remember, AEPi has had a hand in every Madison League Crown since the League’s inception 4 years ago…  We are going to break down each and every match-up for next week’s Opening Round and Quarterfinal Games.  8  Teams will enter Tuesday Night and only 4 will leave with their Playoff lives in tact.

Power Rankings

Opening Round

7. Team Sig Chi (Badger Bowl Lime) v. 8. Team AEPi2 (Madison Taxi)

Winner plays 2. Team Sammy

These Two squads will tip-off the Playoffs with hopes of not just Winning their first Game but to pull a stunner and go on to upset #2 Sammy right after.. These two Teams did not take the court against one another this Season and it will be fun to see them go toe to toe with their Playoff lives at stake. There will of course be a feeling out process to start as they aren’t too familiar with one another. Jack Keeny is the leading scorer for Sig Chi and Drew Lukoff was the leading point man for AEPi2.. One of these guys may be all the difference.. Only one will get a shot to knock off Championship favorite Team Sammy in the Quarterfinals!

2. Team Sammy (MacTaggart’s Orange) v. Winner 7/8

As mentioned just above.. #2 Sammy will get the Winner of #7 Sig Chi v. #8 AEPi2 contest.. Team Sammy opened up the season on a tear.. They jumped out to a 3-o record and then got to 5-1 before stumbling this past week against Team Fiji. They ended the Season at 5-2, tied in 2nd with Team Kappa Sig SO and thanks to a tougher Strength of Schedule, were able to grab the #2 seed.  They are going to be just fine however and have as a good a shot as any Team in the League to take the Crown in 2016.  One Game at a time…

3. Team Ksig SO (Badger Bowl Green) v. 6. Team Ksig JR (Ian’s Pizza)

The most interesting battle that will take place on Tuesday Night’s Playoff slate is this one.. We’ll have two Kappa Sig Teams go face to face and only one of them will get to represent their house in the Final4.  The Sophomores have had a very stellar season, finishing with the 3rd best record in the League. Peter Poggioli was the League Leader in Scoring Average this Season with 26+ for the Sophs. If they play their best, they should advance but it’s an odd thing when you get groups together who know each other so well.. The Juniors led by Bart Bess are not just going to lay down for their younger bros.. This one should be fun!

4. Team DU (Badger Bowl Red) v. 5. Team AEPi1 (MacTaggart’s Gray)

The 4/5 match-up should normally provide the best Game of the Quarterfinals Round and this one should be no exception.. It is actually a rematch of just a week ago where Team DU got a 7pt Win over AEPi 1.  These crews are very even and the Winner will take on #1 Team Fiji in the Final4 next week.  Charlie Taxman and Max Goshen both are averaging 15+ a Game this Season for AEPi and Nicholas LaCourt led the way in scoring for DU.  Expect this to be a Defensive battle with both Teams giving it their all on both ends of the floor.. Can AEPi keep the Dynasty going for their house or can DU help try to assure we’ll have a new house hold the Crown for the first time!?

1. Team Fiji (Badger Bowl Gray) – BYE to Final4

Thanks to their big W to close the Regular Season against Team Sammy, they grabbed hold of first place in the Standings and, thus, a BYE to the Final4. They will get an extra Week to prep for what could/should be two Games on the final night of the League. They will get a Final4 date with the Winner of the DU/AEPi QuarterFinal Game.. Then, with a victory there would move on to the Championship! They are the clear cut favorites coming in with a record of 6-1.  Can they pull it off!?

Good Luck to everyone in the Playoffs!
