We got back to the diamonds on Wednesday Night for the 5th week of Games (following the rain-out on Oct. 11). The rain got us once again on Monday Oct. 23 for the would be make-up Games and now those Games will (hopefully) be the Regular Season finale on Monday 10/30.  In terms of on the field action, there will be little change at the very top of the Rankings with #1 AEPi SO/JR getting to 5-0 and #2 ATO getting another big Win.. However, tons of change behind them.. Scroll down to find out!

Power Rankings

1. Team AEPi SO/JR (Cea Study Abroad) – 5-0

AEPi SO/JR is the lone Undefeated Team left in the League and clearly deserving of the #1 spot in the Rankings. Their latest victory came over #4 DTD JR by the score of 8-2. These guys just keep hitting and continue to not give away free outs when in the field. Adam Katz was 4 for 4 with 2 runs scored and drove in 2 more. Justin Margolin and Josh Newlander were both 3 for 4 as well. They look to close out the Regular Season perfectly with Wins over Phi Sig on Wednesday and then a big clash with #2 ATO on MONDAY Oct. 30.

2. Team ATO (Gourmet Cafe Navy) – 4-1

Back in the Winner’s Circle this week is ATO and in a big way. They won 24-0.  They are easily the most potent Offense in the League and as long as they are focused they seem virtually unstoppable. Their latest victim was DTD SO.  Mark Dykstra was a stand out in a day where everyone was great at the plate for them. He was 4 for 4 with 4 runs scored. John Ciancio went yard 2x in his 3 at-bats and is one of the best hitters in the League. Scott Hammes and Daniel Chumbley also went deep in this one for HRs. They now look to close out the season strong and still have a shot at the #1 seed if they finish 2-0.. They’ll take on #4 DTD JR on Wednesday and then close it out against #1 AEPi in a super clash of the titans on MONDAY Oct. 30.

3. Team Phi Psi (Chipotle) – 3-2

Up to #3 this week is Team Phi Psi who got a 7-6 W over Team Sammy in one of the better Games of Week 5. These guys have now won a couple in a row and have seemingly turned the corner just in time as the race for Playoff seeds really heats up. They are performing near the top of both major Team stats as well. They are 4th in the League in Runs Per Game and are 3rd in Runs Against. That bodes well for post-season success. They have two Games left — first up — ZBT SO/JR and then on MONDAY Oct. 30 they finish up against #6 DTD SR.

4. Team DTD JR (Gourmet Cafe Coral) – 3-2

DTD JR faced off with #1 AEPi SO/JR in Week 5 and just like every other Team that has come in their path thus far, they came up short. Captain John Pagano and Kyle Gorman each reached base 2x in this one but it was not enough to get the Offense going. To defeat AEPi SO/JR you need to swing the bats very well. They are still in good shape at 3-2 and they will get to take on #2 ATO on Wednesday in a possible statement Game for them before closing the Regular Season against #8 AEPi SR on MONDAY Oct. 30.

5. Team ZBT SR (Black Canyon Bakehouse Gray) – 3-2

Earning their 3rd victory of the Season and now rounding out the Top-5 this Week is ZBT SR. They defeated #6 DTD SR by a score of 10-2 in what could be their best W of the Season to-date. Anthony Cirillo was a catalyst at the plate — he reached two times including a big HR and drove in 3 runs. Grant Goodman also reached 3x at the top of the order. These guys will look to close it out on a high-note in the last stretch of the Regular Season.. They get Team Sammy on Wednesday and then finish it up against Team Delts on MONDAY Oct. 30.

6. Team DTD SR (Biaggi’s) – 2-3

Team DTD SR fell to new #5 ZBT SR on Wednesday Night and fall a few spots as a result. They just didn’t have their best stuff and continue to do the 1-step forward, 1-step back routine. They are capable of getting on a roll and winning the whole thing (we’ve seen it before) — now is just the time to get it going. David Simon and Ryan Sondles had good days at the plate last week but they need more from the entire line-up. They look to rally here and win 2 in a row to get over .500 to finish the season.. They play Rivals Team Delts on Wednesday Night and then will take on #3 Phi Psi on MONDAY Oct. 30 in the finale.

7. Team Sammy (Black Canyon Bakehouse Purple) – 2-3

Team Sammy fell on Wednesday Night against #3 Phi Psi in a 7-6 contest that could have gone either way. It’ll be a big Game in terms of Playoff seeding as many Teams are clumped in the middle of the pack right now. What they have shown though is the ability to hang with the best in the League. Two Games left.. #5 ZBT SR on Wednesday Night and then on MONDAY Oct. 30 they take on Phi Sig. They’ll want to go at least 1-1 in those to ensure their Playoff journey is doable.

8. Team AEPi SR (Dr. Jacob D.D.S. Blue) – 1-4

First W of the Season for AEPi SR and into the Rankings they go! They won 10-2 over fellow Seniors on Wednesday Night – Team Delts. Matt Lowy had 2 hits including a big HR to help get these guys going at the plate. Jeremy Padorr went 4 for 5 and scored a run in this one as well. Seth Gilford was 3 for 5 and scored 3 times.. These guys are playing their best at the perfect time to gain some momentum before the Playoffs. On Wednesday Night they take on DTD SO and then on MONDAY Oct. 30 they play against #2 DTD JR. If they can go for a sweep of those DTD Teams their playoff outlook will look way different than it did even 14 days ago.

Rest of the Pack (Alphabetical Order)

Team Delts (Dr. Jacob D.D.S. Green) – 2-3

Team Delts faced AEPi SR on Wednesday Night and came out on the short-end of that one 10-2.  Casey O’Brien had a nice day at the dish though – reaching base on 3 of 4 opportunities. Scott Murphy reached 2x and drove in one of their 2 runs scored. These guys have enough to get hot here and roll into the Playoffs. They will look to do so against Rivals #6 DTD SR on Wednesday Night before closing out the Season against #5 ZBT SR.

Team DTD SO (StudentCity) – 1-4

DTD SO Lost to #2 ATO on Wednesday. No shame in that. Just need to forget it and move on to the next one. Burn the tape on it, as they say.. They have two more Games in the Regular Season and can certainly gain some momentum before the Playoffs begin. First up, #8 AEPi SR on Wednesday Night and then finish up against ZBT SO/JR on MONDAY Oct. 30.

Team Phi Sig (The Bucket List) – 2-3

Team ZBT SO/JR (SLA Insurance) – 0-5

That’s it for Week 5. Good Luck in the next week on both Wednesday Night and MONDAY Oct. 30!
