WE HAVE ARRIVED! Best two weeks of the year are here, and in just over a week’s time we will Crown the 2017 Chicago Fall Flag Football League Champions.. The major question of course is — will we have NEW Champions? Or will #6 Team Jimenez channel their Playoff-selves and grab hold of a 3peat here in Chicago?  Those are very hard to come by and Teams such as #1 Kugler have another version of this story on their minds.. We are in store for some fantastic Games to close out the year and we’ll Preview the first night of the Playoffs below!

Playoff Preview:

1. Team Kugler (Schweitzer Title) – BYE to Final4

Team Kugler earned the #1 seed by finishing 7-0 (at least 2 Games ahead of 2nd place Team Tickman).. But it wasn’t just that they went Undefeated in the Regular Season.. They destroyed everyone. Their closest Game was a 12pt W over #4 Team Apuli (who they may have a Rematch with in the Final4).  They didn’t even have a Game finish in the single-digits! These guys are hungry for the Crown and just 2 Wins separates them from it.  They are already in the Final4 and can kick back and relax to wait and see who grabs the other 3 spots.

4. Team Apuli (Hakimian Imports) v. 5. Team Saltzberg (Live Clean CHI)

There are no bad Games on the slate for the first night of the Playoffs. Each match-up has the chance to steal the show, but the 4/5 Game is always one to watch as it matches up two evenly matched and strong Teams. Both of these groups desperately want a chance to knock off #1 Team Kugler in the Semis, but only one squad will get that opportunity. These Teams met all the way back in Week 2 and Team Apuli won 45-6, but Team Saltzberg was without QB Alex Nadelman on that night and he is a Game Changer for them. This Game is going to be much closer than their first and whichever Team can make fewer mistakes is going to come out on top and advance. Can’t wait!

2. Team Tickman (Chicago Trolley) v. 8. Team Barbati (Dr. Jacob D.D.S.)

This is the classic David v. Goliath. Team Tickman went 5-2 and locked in the #2 seed. Team Barbati had just 1 win during the Regular Season.. Here’s the thing – in a single elimination situation – you just need to have a puncher’s chance and Team Barbati’s best is good enough to take down any group in the League. Team Tickman cannot sleep through this one. These Teams met in Week 1 and Team Tickman won 26-6. Obviously, that was a long time ago and they just shouldn’t come in feeling over-confident. We have seen far too many upsets over the years for anyone to pencil themselves into the next round before actually taking the field. As for Team Barbati – the game plan is simple.. No turnovers and try to just keep Team Tickman and their dynamic Offense away from the big play. Make them snap it again. They can win a low-scoring Game here, just need to play their best.. This one should be fun.

3. Team Elisco (SLA Insurance) v. 6. Team Jimenez (Karyn Collection)

Okay and now for the main event of the first Week of the Playoffs.  2x Reigning and Defending Champs of the Flag Football World – Team Jimenez – is going to try and do what they do best.. Win Playoff Games as the lower seed.. This is a Rematch of the Championship Game from a year ago and Team Elisco has been chomping at the bit for another opportunity to get back to final Game and this time go home with the Crown.. Once again, Team Jimenez is standing in the way of that.. This is going to be a low-scoring Game and the first Team to get to 20 (if either Team does) is your likely Winner. Both Teams are capable of sustaining long drives and if both Offenses play their best, then it may come down to who has the ball last. Get your popcorn ready for this one folks!

Good Luck to everyone in the Playoffs and see you there!
