By
Updated: November 1, 2017

We had a the largest slate of Games of the Season on Thursday Night for Week 6. Both Teams Kugler and Apuli had Double Headers – they also clashed with one another for the first time – #1 Team Kugler is still standing tall at 6-0 heading into the Regular Season finale. We saw a couple upsets as well on this night. We’re going to break down everything in the Rankings below along with some Playoff Scenarios as we are getting toward the end of the Regular Season!

Just FYI on the Playoffs – The Bracket will be Single Elimination with the #1 seeded Team Kugler – automatically advancing to the Final4.  The 7 and 8 seeds will take part in an Opening Round Game with the Winner taking on the #2 seed right after in the Quarterfinals. The Opening Round and Quarters are on Thursday Nov. 9 while the Final4 and Championship will be played on Nov. 16!

Power Rankings

1. Team Kugler (Schweitzer Title) – 6-0

Team Kugler, as mentioned in the open, got to 6-0 on Thursday Night. They steamrolled Team Barbati and then defeated #2 Team Apuli by 12 in their second Game of the Night. With the Wins they are at 6-0 – and have a 2 Game lead on everyone else in the League, with just 1 Game left to play. So, the drama for the 1 seed is non-existent. These guys are getting a BYE to the Final4 and can sit back and relax while the other 7 Teams duke it out for the last 3 spots in the Semis on Nov. 16. Anthony Kopp has been a huge reason for their success. He has been great at QB and has 16 TDs on the year – the next highest total is 12. They will take on #4 Team Saltzberg who has a ton to play for during Week 7. Team Kugler would love to play Spoilers and keep their Undefeated Season alive.

2. Team Apuli (Hakimian Imports) – 4-2

3. Team Tickman (Chicago Trolley) – 4-2

Taking #2 and #3 together this week.. #2 Team Apuli split their Double Header on Thursday Night and in doing so actually hopped up a spot in the #2 Ranking this week. They defeated Team Rudy 23-16 before falling to #1 Team Kugler 18-6.  These guys have what it takes to defeat Team Kugler but they are going to need to play their best to do so. #3 Team Tickman fell on Thursday Night to Defending Champs Team Jimenez – who always heat up for their title run right around now..

What we are left with are 2 Teams tied at 4-2, vying for the #2 seed. The big perk of the 2 seed is you get get to play a tired Team coming off of their Opening Round contest (7 or 8 seed). While the 3 seed has to take on a likely better and definitely more-rested 6 seed. Oh and currently the Defending Champs would slot into the 6-seed…

When things work out nicely, it’s just that.. Nice. These two Teams – Apuli and Tickman – get to battle it out for the #2 seed on Thursday Night. The Winner will be in great shape while the Loser could actually be tied by Teams Elisco and Saltzberg who are just a Game Back. HUGE Game.

4. Team Saltzberg (Live Clean CHI) – 3-3

Team Salzberg moves up to #4 this week following a gigantic 13-6 Win in Week 6 against Team Elisco. The Win pulls them even with Elisco at 3-3 and now they hold the tiebreaker over them.  They are going to play Undefeated #1 Team Kugler on Thursday Night – but they are a group that has already locked up the top-spot and maybe they’ll find them sleeping a bit. A win means they’d pull even with the Loser of Apuli/Tickman for 3rd. A Loss and they could fall down as far as 6th depending on how other Games shake out. The implications for Thursday Night’s finale is gigantic.

5. Team Jimenez (Karyn Collection) – 2-4

And here they come.. We have made it known over the past 2 seasons that Team Jimenez has started slowly and then when it comes time for the Playoffs they “flip the switch” and become the best Team on the planet. Well, here we are again.. As they are going for their 3-peat.. They started off slow but this is right around the time every season when you start to see them accelerate.. Last week, they defeated former #2 Team Tickman – handing them just their second Loss of the season. They look to close it out strong against Team Rudy. They will slot in somewhere between 4th and 7th.. They’ve won titles already from the 4th and 6th seeds.  Here we go again..

Rest of the Pack (Alphabetical Order)

Team Barbati (Dr. Jacob D.D.S.) – 1-5

A week after they got their first Win, they fell to Team Kugler in a Game they’ll want to just forget about and quickly. They are playing on Thursday Night to climb out of the Opening Round when the Playoffs start. They get Team Elisco – who is not Ranked right now either – in Week 7. If they Win and Team Jimenez Loses in addition to Team Rudy winning – it would create a 3-way tie where the top Team gets the 6-seed. That is what they are hoping for right now. Otherwise they’ll start as the 7 or 8 seed and have to win an extra Game to take the Crown.

Team Elisco (SLA Insurance) – 3-3

Team Elisco fell to #4 Team Saltzberg on Thursday Night.. It was one they definitely wanted to have as those two clubs are now tied with a 3-3 record, with Team Saltzberg holding the H2H Tiebreaker. These guys will look to get out of their rut against Team Barbati in the Regular Season finale. A win for them means they could reach a tie for 3rd with the aforementioned Saltzberg (who plays #1 Kugler on Thursday) and certainly the Loser of the Tickman/Apuli Game – the loser is assured to be 4-3. Team Elisco beat Apuli but Lost to Tickman – so they’ll root for Tickman in that one.. If they Lose to Team Barbati they could fall as low as 6th for the start of the Playoffs and have to take down likely 3 top Teams en route to the Crown.

Team Rudy (The Bucket List) – 1-5

Team Rudy fell 23-16 to #2 Apuli on Thursday Night but it was a nice effort from this group against a very good Team. These guys have definitely improved in the second half of the Regular Season and will try to get some much needed momentum before the Playoffs begin.. In Week 7, they face Defending Champs Team Jimenez. If they win – they will get out of the Opening Round Game. They will tie Team Jimenez at 2-5 and thanks to tiebreakers they will finish with the #6 seed. Huge difference only having to win 1 playoff Game that first night rather than 2, with the 2nd Game being against the #2 seed. This one is vital for them. Vital!

That’s it for Week 6. Good Luck in the Regular Season finale!
