Week 3 has come and gone for the Fall THURSDAY Hoops League and when the final buzzer sounded on the night, just one Team was left standing – Team Weisberg, who has certainly asserted themselves as the front-runners this Season. We have a handful of Teams just behind them though and it will certainly be an interesting run to see if anyone can knock them from their current perch. We had some shaking-up in the Rankings after the #1 spot, so scroll down to take a look!

Power Rankings

1. Team Weisberg (The Bucket List) – 3-0

Once again, Team Weisberg showed everyone in the League what they are all about. They won 82-52 over a solid Team Shaffer squad. Through 3 Games, they are averaging over 86 Points Per Game and that is 17 more than 2nd place (Team Aranas). They had 4 scorers with at least 16 points. Luke Jacobson was the high scorer we with 27. Jeff Weisberg had 22, Trevor Ponticelli scored 17 and Captain Jared Weisberg went for 16. Jacobson’s 27, catapulted him into 4th in the League in PPG.  These guys look to make it 4-0 against new #2 Team Wells in what will be The Bucket List Game of the Week!

2. Team Wells (High Fiving White Guys) – 2-1

Up another spot to #2 this week is Team Wells, following their 66-51 W over Team Bernstein on Thursday Night. They have looked excellent over the past couple of weeks and have earned the #2 spot.. Max Siegrist was the Leading Scorer in the entire League on Thursday Night – going for 30 points. Nick Schneider had 18 as well. Looking ahead to Week 4, they will be apart of The Bucket List Game of the Week and the #1 spot in the Rankings will be up for grabs when they try and hand #1 Team Weisberg their first Loss of the Season!

3. Team Unger (SLA Insurance) – 2-1

Movin up to #3 is Team Unger this week. They got what may end up being their best Win of the Regular Season on Thursday Night as they took down former #2 Team Aranas, and dealt them their first Loss. They won by 10. Judd Barron went off, scoring 28 – second highest total in the League for Week 3 and really helped set the tone for their Offense. They had 3 others in double figures: Ryan Lederman, Danny Freed and Captain Max Unger. They look to push their win-streak to 3 against a sneaky good Team Indy on Thursday Night.

4. Team Aranas (it doesn’t matter) – 2-1

Falling a couple spots in the Rankings this week is Team Aranas, following their first Loss of the Season, to Team Unger on Thursday Night. They just couldn’t get enough stops late to get the Win. Calvin Kang went for 26 in another great Game for him. These guys are too good to stay down for long and they will look to rebound quickly in Week 4 with a matchup against the winless Team Dunlap.

5. Team Kaplan (Dr. Jacob D.D.S.) – 2-1

Team Kaplan got to 2-1 on Thursday Night and with the Win jumps into the Top-5. They controlled most of their Game against #6 Team Slomka and eventually won by 16. They saw the debut for this League from Jake Shlofrock who led them in scoring with 23 points. Captain Brett Kaplan had 18 as well. Both Scott Plotnik and Michael Leifman were in double figures as well with 10 a piece. They look to keep rolling against Team Salkoff in Week 4.

6. Team Slomka (Monstars) – 1-2

Team Slomka fell to Team Kaplan on Thursday Night, and as a result dropped out of the Top-5 this Week. They are still Ranked though and have a bunch of good Games ahead. Willie Sellers led with 17 points – he has been very consistent to start the season and Ryan Kissinger added a dozen. They look to get back to .500 in Week 4 against Team Bernstein who also holds a 1-2 record.

7. Team Indy (SLA Insurance) – 1-1

Finishing off the Rankings this week is #7 Team Indy, who leap up into the Rankings after grabbing their first W of the Season on Thursday Night. They won 75-54 over Team Dunlap. Brandon Williams and John Lynch each had 16 points. William Tertell scored 15 and in his debut Harry Clarke had 14. These guys can play and as they gain chemistry are going to become very scary for the rest of the Teams in the League. In Week 4, they take on #3 Team Unger in what should be a very good Game!

Rest of the Pack (Alphabetical Order)

Team Bernstein (Mezes) – 1-2

Team Bernstein is still getting the lay of the land here early on but they managed to tally one into the Win column on Thursday Night as a part of their Double Header (for missing Week 1). They also played against Team Wells and lost in that one by 15. Captain Jordan Bernstein was once again their leading scorer on the night. They look to get back to .500 in Week 4 when they take on Team Slomka who also sits at 1-2 currently.

Team Dunlap (K’Nicks II) – 0-2

Team Dunlap fell to Team Indy on Thursday Night. It is still early and they have plenty of time to right the ship. Eric Klaus led them in scoring with 17 and Rahul Nallappa debuted with 13 points in the Game. These guys have a Double Header on Thursday Night with Team Shaffer, who is also winless, and #4 Team Aranas. This could be the night where they breakthrough for that Win.

Team Salkoff (GLCCB) – 1-2

Team Shaffer (Chicago Trolley) – 0-3

Team Shaffer dropped their Week 3 Game to Team Weisberg, a fate that many will face this season as Team Weisberg has established themselves as the clear-cut #1 squad. Captain Ian Shaffer scored 22 in Week 3 to lead them in scoring. Mark Weingarten was in double figures for the 2nd time this season as well with 14. They now look ahead to Week 4 where they will compete against Team Dunlap – who will also be searching for their first W. Great opportunity to turn it all around!

That’s it for Week 3. Good Luck in Week 4 and Go Cubs!
