On Tuesday Night we Crowned the CSSC Champs and got down to our 3-finalists in the All Sports Series Playoffs. We had 4 great Games just before Thanksgiving and we’ll review all of the Playoff action below. First – we wait to congratulate #4 Team Trauernicht (Air Ditka) who won 3 Games in the CSSC bracket to clinch the title. Well done!

CSSC Championship Game Review

2. Team Berry (Littyville Lane) v. 4. Team Trauernicht (Air Ditka)

This one was for all the marbles. Both Teams knew they were just 44 minutes away from the Championship and neither wanted to give an inch on either end of the floor. Each possession was a fight – in a good way – it was just good solid basketball throughout. Josh Downen had 15 for Air Ditka and Mark Johnson added 13. Captain Kyle Berry had 16 in this one.  As the Game unfolded Air Ditka made a few more plays down the stretch and was able to get the lead.. Littyville Lane did their best to catch-up but Air Ditka was too strong in the paint late – and was able to hold on for the Championship! Team Berry and co. will be among the favorites should they run it back in the Winter. They were a very solid Team and were without a few starters on this night – they have enough to get it done. As for the Champs – Air Ditka – they defeated the #5, #1 and #2 seeds en route to the Crown. Winning three Games in two weeks is very impressive. Congrats again! What a season!

All Sports Series Playoffs Week 2 Review

Elite8: 4. Team Knox (Ojibwa) v. 5. Team Bollier (SLA Insurance)

The Winners here would qualify for the Final4 and take on #1 Team Shlofrock on Championship Tuesday.. The stakes don’t get much higher for these Top-5 Teams, both of which had realistic championship aspirations. Team Knox came out firing – Tremell Adams was hot from the start and finished with 27. Chris White added 21. In the first half Team Bollier was able to keep it somewhat close – Cody Kitahata had 24. Marcus Agee finished with 14 points as well. As the second half went on, Team Knox just had too much Offense and finished the Game 101-75. Team Knox will move on to the Final4 and take on #1 Team Shlofrock!

For Team Bollier – their first playoff journey as a unit ends earlier than they had hoped but they have a lot to hang their hats on in their debut season. To finish in the Top-5 of a League so deep with good Teams is a true accomplishment. They don’t need to make any adjustments to be true contenders in the Winter and hopefully we’ll see them back then, thanks for playing!

Elite8: 3. Team Tucci (Chicago Trolley) v. 6. Team Chaikin (Biaggi’s Pink)

Winner plays 2. Team Darcy in Final4

Teams Tucci and Chaikin both had their sights set on the Final4 and a date with #2 Team Darcy right after this Game.. Only one could advance however.. Team Chaikin had played tough against some of the League’s best during the Regular Season but they didn’t get that signature Win – until this Game – they were just excellent for all 44 minutes. They utilized their depth and several players made an impact. Andy Stempel had 22, Ben Simpson had 20, Cobey Koretz scored a dozen as did Joseph Santello and Matt Jeske had 11.  5 Players in double figures means you are going to get the Win.. They’d finish this one by a score of 85-54.   #2 Team Darcy and the Final4 were up next!

For Team Tucci – they desperately missed their Captain in this one, who was on a trip.  Ryan Brown, Michael Gomez and Paul Kaczor were all in double figures on Tuesday Night but it just wasn’t enough. This is a group that at full strength can win a Championship. That is evidenced by their #3 seed coming into the Playoffs. We’ll see them again! Thanks for playing!

Final4: 2. Team Darcy (Dr. Jacob D.D.S.) v. 6. Team Chaikin (Biaggi’s Pink)

So the stage was set here for one of two Semi-Final Games and the Winner will ultimately have the advantage in the Championship as the other Semi-Final will be played just before the Championship (on Tuesday Nov. 28). Team Chaikin was riding the wave of momentum from their Elite8 W over Team Tucci just minutes before while Team Darcy was entering their 6th straight Final4. They know all about competing in big Games. Sam Martinez had 22 to lead Team Darcy and the Dunlavy Bros. combined for 29 as well. Captain Darcy chipped in with 10. On the Chaikin side of things – Matt Jeske had 15 and Cobey Koretz had 11. These guys just ran out of gas midway through this Game. Even with their depth – it was just too much going against one of the best in Team Darcy. #2 Team Darcy would move on to yet another Championship Game!

For Team Chaikin – it was a great first run together in the Chicago Hoops League scene. They are a very good Team and while they have a ton of experience in All Sports Series they are still very young relative to the other elite Hoops squads.. They have a Crown in their future, and maybe sooner rather than later. Thanks for playing!

That’s it for the Week 2 Review. Thanks again to those who finished up last week and Good Luck to the 3-finalists on the last Tuesday of the Fall!
