The list includes: 2x Champs Team Darcy as well as perennial favorites Team Knox (fka Team Reich) and Team Tucci. We also have Teams Horwitz, Shlofrock, Shields (aka Watts) and Cohen who have been able to get so close to a Crown, yet still searching for that first Championship. Team Chaikin is new to the Chicago Hoops League scene but they have some Championship experience as much of this core is fresh off the 2017 College/Prep “All Sports” Crown. Speaking of Champs, Team Holzman, just wrapped up their 2nd straight Chicago 16″ Softball League title this past Sunday. They look to keep the momentum going. Team Kaplan is entering their first Hoops League as a unit but have a ton of All Sports Series experience as well.. Power Rankings

1. Team Darcy (Dr. Jacob D.D.S.) – 1-0

Where to start but with 2x Champs? This group is entering their 6th Hoops League together in All Sports Series and they have reached the Final4 in every League that they have played in. Captain Bret and co. lost a key piece in Doug Wollney in the off-season but have re-tooled a bit and look ready to go. Dan Turner had 26, Eyad Salem had 22 and Sam Martinez had 18 in the W over familiar foes Team Tucci. They look to get to 2-0 in Week 2 against Team Bollier.

2. Team Knox (Ojibwa) – 1-0

Coming it at #2 and it is well deserved – Team Knox. Captain Andre has assumed the Captain role from past Captain Derek Reich for this offensive juggernaut. In Week 1 they put up 126. ONE-HUNDRED & TWENTY SIX points. Tremell Adams had 37 to lead all scorers in Week 1. Captain Andre had 22. Toussaint Knox also had 22. That’s 81 points from 3 guys. They will now go toe to toe with Team Chaikin in what should be a battle of styles.

3. Team Horwitz (The Bucket List) – 1-0

Team Horwitz claims the #3 spot in the first Power Rankings of the Fall. Captain Jon “the Wiz” Horwitz has brought back his extremely formidable squad that made a run to the Final4 earlier in the Spring of 2017. They have added some fire-power as well.. Brad Schwartz and Brad Tivin have joined the fray. Tivin led them in scoring with 29, good for tied for 2nd in the League in Week 1. They got a huge 20 point W over Team Kaplan and without big man Drake Orser. They look to get to 2-0 with another Win over Team Holzman in Week 2.

4. Team Shlofrock (Schweitzer Title) – 1-0

Team Shlofrock enters the Season Ranked #4 and realistically they could have been higher. Captain Jake has brought forth maybe his most impressive Roster to date — and this was a group that really could have won the Crown over the Summer. They made it to the Semis before a heartbreaking defeat. That Loss is going to fuel them this Fall. Jake Lerman went for 29 in Week 1 and both Brandon Lathon and Brett Greenspan were in double figures as well. They look to get to 2-0 against Team Shields on Tuesday Night.

5. Team Bollier (SLA Insurance) – 1-0

What an impressive debut from Captain Drew Bollier’s squad. They come in to their first Power Rankings in the Top-5 and that is a challenging feat in the Chicago Hoops Leagues. They defeated the always tough Team Shields by 15 points in Week 1 and looked really strong. This is not a complete squad of Rookies as a couple guys on the Team have played on Team Clark in our Summer Leagues. Veteran Marcus Agee had 14 and Captain Drew matched with 14 of his own to lead the way. They’ll go for 2-0 on Tuesday against former 2x Champs and #1 Team Darcy in what will be The Bucket List Game of the Week!

6. Team Chaikin (Biaggi’s Pink) – 1-0

Team Chaikin (pictured above) begins the season at #6. These guys will be among the youngest in the League this Fall but that doesn’t mean they lack in experience. This group has been through countless All Sports Series Games/Leagues and are bringing forth Championship experience. Captain Jonny Chaikin led with 17 in the Win against Team Holzman on Tuesday. Ben Simpson had 16 and Matt Jeske had 14 in their debuts. These guys look to keep pace with the Top-5 in Week 2 when they face the high-powered Offense that is Team Knox.

7. Team Tucci (Chicago Trolley) – 0-1

Team Tucci is better than the #7 Team in the League. They didn’t have their best on Opening Night. We’ve seen slow starts from them before but they always make their presence known come the end of the Season. Captain Alan and co. can really fill it up. Michael Gomez had 22 and Ryan Brown had 20 in this one. They fell to past 2x Champs Team Darcy – no shame in that. They look to pull back to .500 in Week 2 against Team Kaplan.

8. Team Cohen (CEA Study Abroad) – 0-1

Rounding out the Top-8 is Team Cohen. There is no Captain more veteran in All Sports Series than Captain Andy. He is been around since 2011 and much of his Team has too. They always have stellar squads but this Season could be his best chance at a Crown. Joining usual suspects Kyle Daniels and Derek Leeney (who had 20 on Tuesday) they have had made major acquisitions in the off-season. Garrett Staniec has joined Team Cohen in addition to multi-time All Star Dave Gershenzon (normally of the Team Lalez Hoops Dynasty). These are two major gets, and while they weren’t at full strength against Rivals Team Shlofrock in Week 1 – they have plenty of punch in them. Look for them to get back to 1-1 in Week 2.

Rest of the Pack (Alphabetical Order)

Team Holzman (Biaggi’s Brown) – 0-1

Team Holzman played well in Week 1 but had a short bench and suffered down the stretch from tired legs against Team Chaikin. Captain Andrew always puts together formidable squads and this Fall should be no different. Dan McCallum led them in scoring during Week 1. They look to pull the upset over #3 Team Horwitz in Week 2.

Team Kaplan (Danley’s Garage) – 0-1

Captained by Justin Kaplan, this crew of several Vets, is going to be just fine. They fell to Team Horwitz to open the season and then also got to see first-hand just how dynamic Team Knox can be.  Captain Justin had 23 on Tuesday Night and Cameron Mitchell went for double figures as well. These guys will have an easier go of it schedule wise soon. They will be in for a tough battle with Team Tucci though in Week 2.

Team Shields (StudentCity) – 0-1

Last but certainly not least – Team Shields (aka Team Watts). This core of Connor Shields, Mack Watts, Justin Deutsch and Andy Levitz have played in what seems like hundreds of All Sports Series Games before. They’ve had fast starts before and they’ve had slow.. They have a ton of talent and will not let a Week 1 L get them down. Captain Connor led with 18 in the Loss against newcomers Team Bollier in Week 1. They face #4 Team Shlofrock in Week 2!

That’s it for Week 1. See everyone on Tuesday Night for Week 2!
