Power Rankings

1. Team Zimmerman (Sunset Foods) – Tied for 1st with 13 points

Returning to Defend their Back2Back Crowns is of course Team Zimmerman led by Captain Jack. Their core remains in tact as they try to create All Sports Series history by becoming the first Team to go for a 3peat in any of the Chicago Leagues (Team SigEp completed the 3peat in the Champaign League).  Obviously, they start the season at #1… They were taken to the wire on Monday Night by the youngsters of Team Lehrman. They needed OT to get it done, but they eventually came from behind and do what they seemingly always do – just win baby. Bret Darcy (of another Championship Franchise) had 20 and Colin Rice had 17. It was great to see Captain Jack on the floor and being aggressive out there. Jon Nickow hit a big-time 3 at the end of the Game that really turned the tide. It was a great W for the Back2Back Champs. They will take on Team Stone in Floor Hockey in Week 2.

2. Team Dorfman (Hakimian Imports) – Tied for 1st with 13 points

While Team Zimmerman has been a budding dynasty in the last few years, the Original Dynasty is of course the Franchise headed up by Daniel Dorfman and Joe Hakimian. This Summer they are reverting back to the Team Dorfman name, under which, they won the very first All Sports Series back in 2010. Since then, this group has won a Chicago Men’s All Sports Crown (2012) and 3 of 4 Chicago Hoops League Crowns. Recently, Captain Dan headed of the Chicago Co-Ed Indoor Volleyball Champs as well. They have the most Championships in All Sports Series history and they are itching to get back to the top of the mountain this Summer. They won going away on Monday Night against Team Apuli. Newcomer to the squad, but an All Sports Series vet, Jake Shlofrock led the League in scoring on Monday with 26. Fellow newbie to the Team – Jake Lerman had 21. Joe Hakimian knows how to work the waiver wire and in the spring he made some fantastic adjustments to put his squad in a position to be the last team standing. Team Hubner awaits in Softball Monday Night.

3. Team Kornblatt (RightFit Personal Training) – Tied for 1st with 13 points

After the two Goliaths at the top, we have a Team that has gotten close many times, but are still in hot in pursuit of their first Crown.. This group was one of the #Original12 Teams that played in the very first All Sports Series back in 201o. Starting at #3 this Summer, is none other than Team Kornblatt. Last year’s #1 overall seed was Team Kornblatt. They had a nearly perfect Regular Season and then met with eventual Champs Team Zimmerman in Elite8 Floor Hockey and just came up a couple goals short. They have revamped the roster a bit and looked impressive on the Hoops Court (which has always been their downfall).. Jon Horwitz had 21 and Adam Goldberg had 19 in his All Sports Series debut for Team Kornblatt. These guys believe they can do this.. 2017 is the year. In Week 2, they get Rivals Team Apuli in Softball.

4. Team Lehrman (The Bucket List) – Tied for 4th with 0 points

Coming at #4 is Team Lehrman. Captain Ross is returning for another year in All Sports Series and has re-tooled the roster a bit. They have added All Sports Series vet Jesse Pollans in addition to Benji Lerner and Jason Isaacson – both of whom were over 20 points in their debuts on Monday against the Back2Back Champs. They were a mere minute away from pulling the Week 1 shocker but just couldn’t close out Team Zimmerman. These guys are going to be fun to watch as the Summer moves forward. They will take on Team Roberson in Floor Hockey during Week 2.

5. Team Hubner (Biaggi’s) – Tied for 4th with 0 points

Team Hubner is one of the Rookie squads in All Sports Series this Summer.  They are young and hungry to make an impression. They came against one of the League’s best in Team Kornblatt during Week 1. It usually takes a couple of weeks to get the lay of the land, but these guys have the pieces to get the job done! Ross Johnson had 12, Daniel Hanley had 11 and Captain Tim had 11 as well. Look for these guys to start gathering up Wins come July. In Week 2 they take on #2 Team Dorfman in Softball!

Rest of the Pack (Alphabetical Order)

Team Apuli (Rockin’ Refuel) – Tied for 4th with 0 points.

Team Apuli is entering their 7th Summer in All Sports Series. They have played in as many Leagues as any Franchise in history. These guys are always getting close to the Crown but they are still searching for their first as a unit. Captain Justin is as good of a GM as they come and this really could be the Summer. They ran into Team Dorfman in their best sport of Hoops during Week 1 so don’t take the result too seriously from Week 1. Scott Kandelman had 20 and Brian Behnke had 16 in this one. These guys will take on Rivals Team Kornblatt in Week 2 Softball!

Team Roberson (Live Clean CHI) and Team Stone (Chipotle)

Start Next Week! Double Header coming later in-season.

That’s it for Week 1, going to be a great Summer!
