Playoff Review

1. Team Schultz (Biaggi’s) v. 5. Team Darcy (The Bucket List)

These Teams met all the way back in Week 2 of the Regular Season, well before we knew what Team Schultz really was.. The Rookies won that night en route to earning the #1 seed and an Undefeated Regular Season.. Team Darcy was looking to add a 3rd Crown to their mantle. As the Game got underway it was clear points were going to be at a premium. Both Teams were flying around on the Defensive end. The lead would see-saw in the first-half and into the second. Dan O’Brien led all scorers with 16 for Team Schultz. Doug Wollney went for a dozen for Team Darcy. Mid-way through the second-half, Team Darcy just couldn’t get anything to go.. They made a few uncharacteristic mistakes and Team Schultz was able to pull away for good! #1 Team Schultz was moving on to the Championship!

For Team Darcy – another really strong season. These guys didn’t play their best on this night and it turns out that Teams need to play their best to defeat Team Schultz. Their run of 5 straight Final4s is really astounding. The amount of Teams and Games they’ve had to go through to make that happen is incredible. They will be back later this fall but they will have a really big hole to fill as Doug Wollney will move on from Chicago.. He will be missed in the Hoops Leagues for sure. Thanks again for playing and see everyone soon!

2. Team Dean (Crystal Lake CDJ) v. 3. Team Maione (Rockin’ Refuel)

We knew Team Schultz was heading to the Championship at 9-0.. So who would it be going against them? Both of these Teams have a right to be called “Defending Champs.” Team Maione won this League in 2016 and Team was our most recent set of Championship from the Spring.  Only one of these groups would get to move on the finals.. They met back in Week 1 where Team Dean really put it on Team Maione but that was before a couple of injuries for Team Dean and Team Maione had integrated their new pieces.. This was going to be a different Game altogether. Both Teams came out on fire.. Both clubs were to 20 points just 6 minutes into the Game. The first half was played at a torrid pace and the lead would change hands numerous times.. In the second half the pace slowed a bit and Team Maione was able to force some turnovers and build up a lead.. Captain Brad Deutsch went for 26 and Chris Wroblewski had 25 for Team Maione. Andy Timson also had 20 for them. Team Dean’s Mike Mulroe would go for 24 but it wasn’t enough and Team Maione would secure the double digit victory to get back to their second straight Summer Tuesday Championship Game.

For Team Dean – they battled through some injuries this Season and still made it to the Final4 in what was a really competitive League on Tuesday Nights. They actually made the Final4 on Thursday Nights as well. This group is putting together a very impressive resume in short order and many of them will be a part of THE Chicago Hoops League on Sundays starting in October. Thanks for playing!

1. Team Schultz (Biaggi’s) v. 3. Team Maione (Rockin’ Refuel)

and then there were 2.. Team Maione would be on the Mt. Rushmore of Chicago All Sports Series’ League Teams (not just Hoops Leagues but in general).. They are the Defending Champs of this Summer League and looking to add a Back2Back to their mantle. In the other corner, is Team Schultz who has put together one of the most impressive debut seasons we have ever seen in All Sports Series when considering the level of talent they have run through this Season.. They are now one Win away from an Undefeated Championship Season that will immediately launch them on to the radar of everyone in our Hoops League scene – not just Tuesday Nights. Both Teams can really play and we were in store for an excellent Championship Game.

These two Teams were both feeling good following their Final4 Wins and the Offenses were ready to go from the Opening Tip. Team Schultz had the size advantage but Team Maione is used to that.. Team Maione had an early lead as the Game got going but Team Schultz caught them and then took the lead as headed toward halftime.. We were actually tied at the Half. Team Schultz had a way of pulling away from Teams in the second half and that is exactly what we saw take place here. Team Maione’s 3s stopped falling and Team Schultz would utilize the long-rebounds to get some transition buckets. Team Schultz had 5 guys in double figures including Colin Carney who led with 16. Captain Brad Deutsch led his Team again with 19. Team Schultz had a double digit lead with just a few minutes to go.. Team Maione cut the lead to 7 but it was too little too late and Team Schultz had won the Championship to complete the perfect season! More on them in just a bit..

For the Runners-up Team Maione – It was another really great run. They didn’t leave with the ultimate prize but in what was a really competitive League, they worked in some new pieces and advanced to the Championship Game for the second straight year..  Their focus now turns to THE Chicago Hoops League which will begin on Sunday Oct. 15 and feature them along with 19 of the other best Teams in Chicago. Thanks for playing!

To the Champs Team Schultz! First off, big Congratulations! Only a handful of Teams have been able to come into to an established All Sports Series League and Win the Crown in their debut season. Then on top of that they went Undefeated and won all but two of those Games by double figures. They were dominant and really fun to watch play. We are hoping they will enter THE Chicago Hoops League later this Fall where they would quickly be able to make a name for themselves. Thank you for playing and congrats again!

That’s it for Tuesday Nights this Summer. Thanks for playing! Hope to see everyone again soon!
