2017 College/Prep “All Sports” – Week 5 (July 19)

For the first time in what seems like forever (a month) the College/Prep League in HP was able to take the fields/courts. Between weather and the July 4 break it has been quite the gap between Games.. All 12 Teams are ready to go for what will be a jam-packed finish to the Regular Season! So many Games left over this next week or so.

Power Rankings

1. Team Zisook (Rockin’ Refuel) – In 1st with 89 points

Team Zisook continued to look unstoppable this week, winning both games of their football double header 33-12 and 26-12 against Teams Stotter and Sernick, respectively. QB Jacob Iden threw for a bunch of TD’s and Luke Norcia had 2 pick-6’s in Game 2. Up next for them is a double header in Softball and Hoops.

 

2. Team Slovis (Sunset Foods) – In 6th with 35 points

Team Slovis looked impressive in their 2017 All Sports Series debut, beating Team Fialkow 63-47 in basketball and then going over to Sunset Park to beat Team Herzog 15-11 in Softball. Josh Newlander hit 7 3’s accounting for all 21 of his points. On the diamond, Ian Michelsen went 4-4 with 4 RBIs and 3 Runs. This is a dangerous team. They play Team Gordon in football on SATURDAY.

 

3. Team Wellek (Dr. Jacob D.D.S) – In 7th with 33 points

Team Wellek played previously #2 ranked Team Stotter in a football game this week, gaining the upper hand by winning 26-20.  Shane Cooper scored twice to lead his team to victory. Following that game, they lost in softball to Team Fialkow 1-4. Up next for them is football game against Team Tickman on SATURDAY.

 

4. Team Stotter (First Bank of HP) – In 2nd with 47 points

Team Stotter was on the wrong side of two football defeats this week, losing 12-33 and 20-26 against Teams Zisook and Wellek, respectively. Myles Grossman accounted for most of the scoring for his team. They look to get back into the win column next week against Team Gordon in Softball and then Team Liss in Hoops.

 

5. Team Gerszonovicz (Baker Boys) – In 3rd with 44 points

Team Gerszonovicz split both games of their double header on Wednesday, losing a heartbreaker to Team Baer in Hoops 92-94 before taking their frustration out on Team Gordon, beating them 41-6 in Football. Jack O’Keefe and Matthew Lowy each had 33 points in basketball. Up next for them is a Football game against Team Fialkow and then a Softball game against Team Wellek.

 

6. Team Fialkow (SLA Insurance) – Tied for 4th with 38 points

Team Fialkow played an impressive Team Slovis crew in Hoops during Game 1 of their double header, losing 47-63. Adam Wagner and Jonah Fialkow both scored 13 in that game. They quickly went to the softball diamond with a vengeance, beating Team Wellek 4-1. Johnny Bear hit a 3-run triple and Cam Hillocks pitched lights out en route to the victory. Up next for them is a Flag Football double header against Teams Gerszonovicz and Herzog.

 

7. Team Sernick (Chipotle) – Tied for 4th with 38 points

Team Sernick played the #1 seeded Team Zisook in their first game of the day, losing a tough football game 12-26. However, they came back strong in game 2, beating Team Herzog in Softball 11-5. Jacob Moeckler was terrific, going 3-4 with 1 HR 5 RBIs and 2 Runs. Up next for Team Sernick is a football game against Team Herzog on SATURDAY.

 

8. Team Tickman (Once Upon) – In 9th with 32 points

Team Tickman only had one game on Wednesday, but took full advantage of it, beating Team Gordon 11-7 in Softball. Parker Rijos went 3-4 with 1 HR 2 RBIs and 2 Runs to lead the team. Up next for them is a SATURDAY football double header.

 

Rest of the Pack (Alphabetical Order)

Team Baer (Sushi Kushi Too) – Tied for 11th with 15 points 

Team Baer only had one Hoops game on Wednesday, and made the most of it by beating Team Gerszonovicz in a nail-biter, 94-92. Henry Hughes had 38 (!!) and Ben Sacks followed suit with 29 of his own. They play Team Tickman in Football on SATURDAY.

 

Team Gordon (Gordon Bros.) – In 10th with 21 points

Veteran Team Gordon found themselves on the losing end of a football game 6-41 and a softball game 7-11. Paul Gion connected with Jack Kamin in their only score in the football game. Ryan Maksimovic went 4-4 with 1 HR 2 RBIs and 3 runs in their Softball game. They look to do some damage in football on SATURDAY against Team Slovis.

 

Team Herzog (StudentCity) – In 12th with 0 points

Team Herzog had a rough double header, losing both of their softball games by 4+ runs. Gabe Strauss went 2-4 with 1 RBI and 2 Runs in Game 1 and Cameron Zoub went 3-3 with 1 HR 6 RBIs and 2 Runs in Game 2. Team Herzog hopes to find the win column next week against Team Sernick in a SATURDAY football game.

Team Liss (Testing Timers) – Tied for 4th with 38 points
