Updated: January 10, 2019

Hope everyone had a very happy and healthy New Year! THE CHI Hoops league resumed play on Sunday afternoon after a lengthy but much needed break.

We are going to begin the Week 11 Power Rankings with some good news first: #1 Team Swish House will take the floor for this upcoming Sunday night’s highly anticipated matchup with West Division leaders #3 Team Onions, having capitalized on a huge 43-point win against #9 Team Reisner on Sunday evening to keep the #1 spot in THE CHI Hoops Power Rankings.

Now for the bad news: What awaits Team Swish House over the next two weeks just might add up to the most challenging two weeks of their regular season.

We can’t wait to see what sort of shape Team Swish House are in when we reconvene next week. After playing #3 Team Onions coming up on Sunday evening in our Week 12 Game of the Week, Team Swish House will host an extremely tough #10 Team Deutsch crew in Week 13.

Rest assured, there’s a lot to digest throughout our 1-to-14 ladder beyond just what’s happening at the top. We will get into that and much more below!

Quickly, for those Playing in their first All Sports Series League.. Here’s what to expect from the weekly Power Rankings.. Power Rankings

1. Team Swish House – East – 10-1

Team Swish House picked up right where they left off in 2018. They earned a lopsided 43-point victory over #8 Team Reisner to start the second half of the season. They were without a couple of their regular starters on Sunday evening but with that came an opportunity for others to step up and for them to bolster the roster a bit. We saw the 2018-19 debut of Joseph Williams IV for Team Swish House who had 17 on the night to go along with three boards and three assists. If Mr. Williams IV is going to be a regular part of this squad, the #1 Team in the League got a whole lot better over the break. Sterling Williams, Cory Starkey and Breck Mahoney also had huge nights offensively on Sunday evening, combining to score 74 of their squads 104 points. Team Swish House will look to build on their league leading 8-game winning streak coming up on Sunday night when they take the court against West Division leaders, #3 Team Onions (9-2) in our Week 12 Game of the Week!

2. Team Wolves – East – 10-1

Team Wolves held an opponent under 85 points for the 9th time this season in their 86-82 victory over Team Chess and Mathematics on Sunday evening. Team Wolves has won all 9 of these games, and they’re 10-0 when holding an opponent under 88. Dante Logan produced his second straight 20+ point performance to lead the way for #2 Team Wolves on Sunday night, finishing with 22 points, eight rebounds and a Week 11 league high fourteen assists. Team Wolves Offense will likely continue to flow through Joe Kozak but if they can continue to get this type of production from Mr. Logan on a weekly basis, this squad will be basically unbeatable. They’ll look to take their current winning streak up to six games coming up on Sunday afternoon when they take the court against South Division leaders #4 Team WOLVERINES (9-2). These two squads are ranked #1 and #3 in total Defense heading into this match-up and my gut feeling is the first team to reach 80 on Sunday afternoon will get this ever-important W.

3. Team Onions – West – 9-2

Holding firm onto the #3 spot in the Week 11 Power Rankings is Team Onions following their Week 11 forfeit victory over #10 Team Deutsch as Team Deutsch did not have enough available bodies to field a legal team. The win brings Team Onions regular season record up to 9-2 and now hold a solid two-game lead in the West Division. #3 Team Onions will try to make it 7 Wins in a row and continue their rise in our Power Rankings in Week 12 against #1 Team Swish House (10-1) in our Week 12 Game of the Week!

4. Team WOLVERINES – South – 9-2

Bryant Orange totaled 27 points (11-19 FG), six rebounds and five assists during Sunday night’s 85-62 victory over Team High Fiving White Guys. Orange’s scoring and assists totals both served as team highs, and his five Total 3PT + AND1 MADE helped propel him to his second straight 27+ point performance. It wasn’t just all about Mr. Orange in this contest for Team WOLVERINES as all five available players provided double digit scoring efforts in this contest. Mitchell Acox Bouie had 20, Captain Randall Hampton and Ryan Allen both had 14 and Matthew Wolk pitched in with 10 points of his own. It wasn’t just about the Offense either for Team WOLVERINES in this contest as they held their fifth straight opponent to under 70 points. They’ll bring their League leading Defense (65.7 PAPG) to the DePaul Ray Meyer Center on Sunday night for a match-up against the third ranked Defensive unit in the League, #2 Team Wolves (10-1).

5. Team Division 6 – South – 7-4

Team Division 6 picked up their second straight victory on Sunday night, squeezing by a pesky Team Purimetla squad by a final score of 108-103. The 211 total points was the highest combined scoring total of any game so far this season. Eric Porter led the way once again for Team Division 6, producing 32 points (12-22 FG) to along with five rebounds and four assists. This big Week 11 victory brings up a very interesting question…Does Team Division 6 merit three All-Stars? For all our constant (and justifiable) drooling over THE CHI Hoops leading scorer Eric Porter, let’s not forget that Captain Billy Kirby has a better field-goal percentage than all but three players (Eric Porter, Garret Staniec and Dante Logan) who have played in at least nine games thus far this season. Cullen Barr is also averaging nearly a double-double through the first 11 games of the season and ranks 2nd overall in Rebounds Per Game (minimum 7 games played). These guys will look to build on their stellar 2018-19 campaigns coming up on Sunday night when they take the court against Team High Fiving White Guys (1-10).

6. Team Maione – West – 7-4

Team Maione did not have enough available bodies to field a legal team on Sunday afternoon and had to take a forfeit loss to Team LAMBO. Team Maione have now dropped four of their last six games and sees them fall into the #6 spot in the Week 11 Power Rankings. Team Maione will look to get back into their early season form when they take the court in Week 12 versus #7 Team Clark (5-6).

7. Team Clark – East – 5-6

Staying put in the #7 spot in the Week 11 Power Rankings is Team Clark following their Week 11 forfeit victory over #9 Team Schwartz as Team Schwartz did not have enough available bodies to field a legal team. The win brings Team Clark’s regular season record up to 5-6. #7 Team Clark will try to make it back-to-back victories for the first time since Week 5 and get back to the .500 mark in Week 12 when they take the court against #6 Team Maione (7-4).

8. Team Reisner – South – 4-7

#8 Team Reisner came into Week 11 a little shorthanded as they were only able to dress five players for their match-up with #1 Team Swish House. As a result, #8 Team Reisner took one to the chin on Sunday evening, losing to #1 Team Swish House by a final score of 104-61. Tyler Max led the way for Team Reisner in this contest, scoring 19 points (8-16 FG) while grabbing five rebounds and dishing out four assists. Max continues to play well for Team Reisner and has emerged as arguably one of the most important assets for this squad alongside Marin Kukoc. The All Sports Series Hoops veteran is now averaging 17 points per game for the season. The only drawback for Max through the first 11 weeks of the season is his availability as he has only been able to dress for 5 of his squads first 11 games. If Max can consistently contribute to Team Reisner’s efforts down the stretch, we see this squad winning more games than losing. Team Reisner will look to snap their current four game losing streak coming up on Sunday afternoon when they take the court against Team Purimetla (3-8).

9. Team Schwartz – North – 4-7

Team Schwartz did not have enough available bodies to field a legal team on Sunday afternoon and had to take a forfeit loss to #7 Team Clark. Team Schwartz have now dropped three games in a row and sees them stay put in the #9 spot in the Week 11 Power Rankings. Team Schwartz will look to get back to their winning ways when they take the court in Week 12 versus Team LAMBO (1-10).

10. Team Deutsch – South – 4-7

Team Deutsch did not have enough available bodies to field a legal team on Sunday afternoon and had to take a forfeit loss to #3 Team Onions. That makes it back-to-back losses following a four-game winning streak and sees Team Deutsch stay in the #10 spot in the Week 11 Power Rankings. Team Deutsch will look to put these last few weeks behind them when they take the court in Week 12 versus Team Chess and Mathematics (3-8).

Rest of the Pack (Alphabetical Order)

Team Chess and Mathematics – North – 3-8

So close, yet so far. By the final score of 86-82, Team Chess and Mathematics lost a heartbreaker to #2 Team Wolves on Sunday night and sees their overall regular season record dip to 3-8. Captain Gilles Jones had 34 points (14-23 FG), seven rebounds and two assists in Sunday’s loss to #2 Team Wolves. While Jones has now done the unthinkable and scored fewer than 40 points, he continues to build on his incredible 2018-19 campaign. Jones hasn’t scored fewer than 10 points in any contest this season and is averaging 27.7 PPG, 5.9 RPG and 4 APG. If these are not MVP caliber numbers, I don’t know what is. Team Jones shouldn’t let themselves get hugely discouraged by Sunday’s result, however. They suffered a loss, true, but losing to the #2 (arguably #1) ranked team in the league by 4 points can be rationalized. Plus, they are still only 1 game back from taking over the North Division lead and propelling themselves into a top-5 Playoff seed. They’ve got another important contest coming up on Sunday night against #10 Team Deutsch (4-7).

Team High Fiving White Guys – West – 1-10

We’ve mentioned it before, but their record doesn’t tell the whole story here. These guys can and are playing good basketball. A loss to #4 Team WOLVERINES on Sunday afternoon by a final score of 85-62, especially in a game which the final score doesn’t necessarily indicate the whole story, is a good sign. They are still competing and having guys like Nicholas Schneider carry them. He once again had a nice week putting up 20 points on the defending Champs. They were without their leading scorer on Sunday evening, Matthew Clark, and anytime you are missing a player that puts up 20+ points a week, it will be tough to recover from that. Right now, their record isn’t the concern. They just want to continue growing and playing good ball. The wins will eventually follow. They will have another very tough test coming up on Sunday night however, with #5 Team Division 6 (7-4) next up on the schedule.

Team LAMBO – East – 1-10

Picking up their first victory of the 2018-19 campaign is Team LAMBO following their Week 11 forfeit victory over #6 Team Maione as Team Maione did not have enough available bodies to field a legal team. The win brings Team LAMBO’s regular season record up to 1-10 on the year. Team LAMBO will try to make it back-to-back victories for the first time this season in Week 12 when they take the court against #9 Team Schwartz (4-7).

Team Purimetla – North – 3-8

Team Purimetla lost to #5 Team Division 6 on Sunday Night in an absolute shootout, falling by a final score of 108-103. No shame in that. They obviously have enough talent to go on a serious run in the second half of this season. They just cannot afford to have Defensive performances like they did on Sunday night. Team Purimetla put up a whopping 103 points on Sunday night but unfortunately that just wasn’t enough to overcome the hot shooting hands of #5 Team Division 6. If they dig down deep and get their Defense to click simultaneously with their very solid Offense, then they are going to get wins and a lot of them. Plain and simple. Tim Lott and Michael combined for 66 of their squads 103 points on Sunday night. Adam Jones also had a nice night from the floor, dropping 14 points of his own. They will get #8 Team Reisner (4-7) coming up on Sunday Night and the opportunity to move back up into the ranks.

Week 11 is in the books! Good luck to you all on Sunday!
