Playoff Preview

Elite8: #1 Team Porter vs. #8 INDY Team #3

Team Porter closed out the Regular Season with a big W on Thursday night and will enter the 2018 THURSDAY Fall postseason with an undefeated regular season record and the overall #1 seed. They are going to be heavy favorites coming up on Thursday night in the Elite8 round against #8 INDY Team #3. These two squads met in the season opener all the way back on October 4th and Team Porter walked out of WCFH that evening with a solid 91-42 victory. The squads leading scorer and leagues overall second leading scorer (minimum 5 games played), Captain Eric Porter, paced Team Porter on that opening night victory with a monstrous 46-point performance. Team Porter will look to get the same production out of Captain Eric coming up on Thursday night with a chance to book their tickets into the Final4.

#8 INDY Team #3 will enter the postseason on Thursday night without a regular season win. They lost their regular season finale last Thursday to #7 Team Copters by a final score of 46-41, and now are tasked to take down the juggernauts of Team Porter coming up on Thursday night in the opening Elite8 round. INDY Team #3’s leading scorer during the regular season was Chris Colla who averaged 13.8 PPG. As a squad, INDY Team #3 is averaging just shy of 46 PPG. They will be looking to get some much-needed scoring production out of Chris and others if they have any plans on taking down the overall #1 seed and making it into the Final4. The good news for INDY Team #3 is that they have the talent and the last two months of playing experience with one another to create such an upset, they’ll just need to play their best ball coming up on Thursday night. The great thing about All Sports Series Hoops leagues is that anything can happen!

Elite8: #2 Da Bulls vs. #7 Team Copters

Da Bulls will enter the Fall THURSDAY Hoops postseason as the overall #2 seed with a 4-3 regular season record. They finished in a 5-way tie for 2nd place but end up coming out with the overall #2 seed based on their superior point differential in the games played amongst the 5 teams tied (+22). They picked up a crucial victory last Thursday over #4 Team Sharrin to close out their regular season and gave themselves the opportunity to finish as a top-2 seed. Joshua Dix had a monster performance on Thursday night, dropping 38 points to lead all scorers in Week 7 and to help secure his squads overall #2 seed. This man will be a handful for everyone he runs into coming up in the postseason. Da Bulls get a match-up on Thursday night in the opening Elite8 round against #7 Team Copters. These two squads lined up against one another in week 4 and #2 Da Bulls walked away with a solid 55-33 victory. #2 Da Bulls will be looking to repeat this performance coming up on Thursday night and book their tickets into the Final4.

Team Copters entered week 7 winless but walked out of WCFH with their first victory on the Fall THURSDAY hoops campaign. By the final score of 46-41, Team Copters picked up a huge first victory and as a result, they finished the Fall THURSDAY Hoops regular season with an overall 1-6 record and will enter the postseason on Thursday night as the #7 seed. This was a very important victory because it allows #7 Team Copters to avoid the juggernauts of #1 Team Porter in the opening Elite8 round. They now instead get to turn their attention to #2 Da Bulls. These two squads tipped off against one another back in Week 4 and Team Copters went down by a final score of 55-33. Team Copters will still have their hands full as they will try to contain the third highest scoring team in the league. During their match-up back in week 4, Team Copters did a great job containing #2 Da Bulls as they held them to their second lowest scoring output on the year (55 points). They’ll need that same type of defensive effort coming up on Thursday night if they have any plans on advancing into the Final4.

Elite8: #3 Double RIM Jobs vs. #6 Avengers 5.0

Double RIM Jobs entered Week 7 with an opportunity to finish the regular season as the overall #2 seed and did their part by beating #6 Avengers 5.0 by a final score of 72-58. As a result of this victory, they finished the Fall THURSDAY Hoops regular season with an overall 4-3 record. They finished in a 5-way tie for 2nd place but end up coming out with the overall #3 seed based on their superior point differential in the games played amongst the 5 teams tied (+18). The +18 was only inferior to #2 Da Bulls +22. Matthew Jos had a fantastic game on Thursday night as he dropped 21-points against Team Avengers 5.0. The 21 points were easily a season high for Mr. Jos as his previous high point total was 6 back in week 5. #3 Double RIM Jobs had three different guys average double-digit points during the regular season and will need all three of them to step up coming up on Thursday night if they plan on advancing into the Final4. They start off their postseason campaign on Thursday night with a date against #6 Avengers 5.0, the same squad they just beat by 14 points last Thursday. These two squads will know each other very well by the end of Thursday night.

In their regular season finale on Thursday night, Avengers 5.0 took their third loss of the regular season as they went down by a final score of 72-58 to #3 Double RIM Jobs. Because of this loss, Avengers 5.0 finish the regular season with an overall 4-3 record and will enter the postseason as the #6 overall seed. They finished in a 5-way tie for 2nd place but end up getting the #6 seed because they had the worst point differential (-25) in the games played amongst the tied teams. The squads leading scorer during the regular season, Russell Fions, was once again on fire on Thursday night as he led Avengers 5.0 with a huge 25-point performance. They’ll need Mr. Fions to keep up this tremendous scoring pace in the opening Elite8 round as they have a very tough matchup on the calendar with the same team that they just lost too in Week 7 and the overall #3 seed, Double RIM Jobs. Avengers 5.0 have the talent to take down any team in this league and will be a very scary match-up for any opponent this postseason. They’ll just need to all click at the right time, which we all know can happen on any given Thursday.

Elite8: #4 Team Sharrin vs. #5 MACS

Team Sharrin walked away with a 11-point defeat on Thursday night to close out their regular season campaign against #2 Da Bulls. With this loss, they dropped their regular season record to 4-3 and will enter the Fall THURSDAY Hoops Playoffs as the overall #4 seed. They finished in a 5-way tie for second place but end up with the #4 seed as they had the third best overall point differential (+13) in the games played amongst the tied teams. The leagues regular season scoring Champion, Zach Hilgendorf, had his sixth straight 30+ point scoring performance on Thursday night, dropping 33 points in his squads 88-77 loss to #2 Da Bulls. #4 Team Sharrin will now need to turn their attention to #5 MACS in their opening Elite8 round match-up coming up on Thursday night. These two squads tipped off against one another back in Week 3 and Team Sharrin walked away victorious with an 83-53 W. Statistically, Team Sharrin finished with the second-best Offense in the league at 73.1 PPG average but also sports the League’s worst Defense, allowing a little over 69 PPG. The real question for Team Sharrin will be, can they find enough Offensive production to compensate for the issues they seem to be experiencing on D to bring home that coveted crown? Their first test will be to take down #5 MACS for the second time this season in the opening Elite8 round coming up on Thursday night.

MACS finished their regular season on Thursday night with a tough loss to #1 Team Porter, losing to them by a final score of 91-69. The loss brings Team MACS record to 4-3 on the season and as a result they finished in a 5-way tie for second place. They’ll end up rolling into the postseason on Thursday night as the overall #5 seed as they had the fourth best overall point differential (-22) in the games played amongst the other teams tied for 2nd. Team MACS must now set their sights on #4 Team Sharrin in their opening round Elite8 match-up with them coming up on Thursday night. Team MACS squared off against Team Sharrin back in Week 3 and took their worst defeat of the season on that night, falling by a final score of 83-53. They’ll need to look back on that Week 3 performance and try to figure out what went wrong that evening. If they can come up with a way to contain the regular season scoring Champion, they’ll give themselves an opportunity to walk out of WCFH as victors and book a ticket in the Final4. They’ll look to lean on their regular season scoring leader, Danny Waytula for a chance to advance into the Final4 and Championship Thursday. This should be one of the best Elite8 opening round match-ups on Thursday night!

That’s it for the Playoff Preview! Good Luck to everyone on Thursday Night!
