Power Rankings

1. Team Porter – 4-0

Team Porter is sitting very pretty right now at 4-0. They realistically can start eyeing down a perfect Regular Season – which very few have been able to do in the Chicago Hoops League scene. This past week they defeated former #2 Team Sharrin in our Week 4 Game of the Week by a final score of 90-80. They wanted to make a statement and did just that. This game featured the leagues two highest scoring players and they certainly did not disappoint. Captain Eric Porter went for a cool 35 for a second straight week while Daniel Nikitas went for 26 to help seal the deal in this one. They’ll get another tough match-up coming up in Week 5 when they take the court against #2 Team Da Bulls (3-1) in our Week 5 Game of the Week!

2. Da Bulls – 3-1

Team Da Bulls moves up to the #2 spot in the Week 4 Power Rankings this week following their second straight Win on Thursday Night. They won 55-33 in this one over Team Copters. This was a fantastic all-around team effort as four different players were able to hit double digits in this one for Team Da Bulls. Mark Doman led the way for Team Da Bulls as he had 15 in this contest. Christopher Kinnerk went for 14 while Samuel Ainsworth and Joshua Dix both pitched in with 10 points apiece in their W. These guys are really rolling now and will look for their 3rd straight Win during Week 5 when they go toe to toe with #1 Team Porter (4-0) in our Week 5 Game of the Week!

3. MACS – 3-1

Team MACS is up to #3 following their impressive Week 4 Win over Team Double RIM Jobs by a final score of 65-57. Team MACS bounced back very nicely in Week 4 following their 30-point loss in Week 3. Patrick Weiler scored 17 points in this contest for Team MACS to lead the way and three others were in double figures as well: Danny Waytula with 14, Peter Evans with 12 and Mike Crawford with 10. When you get that type of production from that many different guys, you are going to Win – plain and simple. They take on #5 Team Avengers 5.0 (2-1) during Week 5 in an attempt to record their fourth win on the campaign.

4. Team Sharrin – 2-1

Team Sharrin drops down a few spots this week, but still holds firm in the Top-5. They fell to #1 Team Porter (as everyone has thus far) in what ended up being a fantastic ballgame involving the leagues two highest scoring players. The leagues co-leader in scoring, Zach Hilgendorf, put on a show on Thursday night and had 42 points to try to will his guys to victory. That makes it two weeks in a row for Mr. Hilgendorf with 40+ points…amazing! He is now tied for the league lead with 37 PPG. It wasn’t just about Zach in this contest for Team Sharrin as Tyler Max had 13 in this one as well. Bret Darcy also pitched in with 9 points of his own but Team Sharrin just couldn’t keep up with #1 Porter. They are a very good Team and will put it behind them quickly. Looking ahead to Week 5 – they will take on INDY Team #3 (0-4).

5. Avengers 5.0 – 2-1

Staying firm in the #5 spot in the Week 4 Power Rankings is Team Avengers 5.0, who have now won a couple in a row. They defeated a solid INDY Team #3 club by 8 points on Thursday Night by a final score of 46-38. Russell Fions was their leading scorer with 17 in this one and is now averaging just under 17 PPG. Tyler Ammermann also contributed to the winning cause as he dropped in 8 huge points of his own. Neil Lenahan and Jim Campbell combined to score 13 points as well. Having all your available bodies get on the scoreboard normally equates to a Win – especially for a strong Defensive unit such as them. They’ll look to make it 3 wins in a row on Thursday night when they take the court against #3 Team MACS (3-1).

Rest of the Pack (Alphabetical Order)

Copters – 0-4

Team Copters exited Week 4 still searching for their first W of the Season. By the final score of 55-33, Team Copters dropped their fourth straight game. They are right there, it just hasn’t happened late in the Games where they pull one out. This is a quality group that is going to Win some Games still – just need to shake off the slow start. Jared Funk recorded his third straight double-digit scoring effort on Thursday night, pouring in 15 huge points to help keep his squad in this game. Unfortunately for Team Copters, they just couldn’t get consistent buckets from anyone else on Thursday Night. It will come. This is a dark-horse candidate to make a real run in November, heard it here first. They take on Team Double RIM Jobs (1-3) in Week 5 – perfect opportunity to get that first Win.

Double RIM Jobs – 1-3

Team Double RIM Jobs lost a tight one to #3 Team MACS in Week 4 by a final score of 65-57. The loss was their second straight and takes their record to 1-3. Connor Quicksell once again was their leading point-man with 20 on the night. With the big night, he is now averaging 13 PPG through the first 4 Weeks. Todd Lowery had 12 and Drew Sandberg pitched in with 10 to help give these guys a fighting chance in this ball game, unfortunately they fell just a little sky and could not overtake a tough Team MACS squad. These guys have enough to win ball games and there is no doubt that they’ll get a few more prior to the regular season wrapping up. Team Copters, another squad that is in desperate need of a W, is up next for them in Week 5!

INDY Team #3 – 0-4

INDY Team #3 faced a very strong squad in #5 Avengers 5.0 on Thursday Night. By the final score of 46-38, INDY Team #3 dropped their fourth consecutive game and see their record sit at 0-4. They just could not get enough buckets to fall in the second half of this ballgame. It happens, remember these guys are still feeling each other out. Chris Colla scored 15 in this one to lead the way for INDY Team #3. Chris now leads INDY Team #3 in scoring, averaging just over 13 PPG. Derek Mosley also pitched in with 7 and Adam Sharrett had 6, but it just wasn’t enough to catch up with Team Avengers 5.0. These guys will have plenty of opportunities to gain some chemistry down the final stretch of the regular season. They take on #4 Team Sharrin (2-1) in Week 5.

Week 4 is in the books! Big match-ups coming up in Week 5!
