Power Rankings

1. Team Porter – 6-0

With their win over Team Avengers 5.0 (and by 29!) they have officially clinched the overall #1 seed for the Chicago Fall THURSDAY Hoops Playoffs! By the final score of 90-61, Team Porter picked up their 6th consecutive victory on Thursday night and improved their record to a perfect 6-0. Talk about balance, these guys had four different starters post 12 or more points in their big Week 6 victory. Daniel Nikitas led the charge posting 31 huge points, followed by Captain Eric Porter’s 26 and Raymond Hunnicutt’s 13. Team Porter will look to close out the regular season strong when we get back from Thanksgiving Break on Thursday, Nov 29. They’ll close out their regular season schedule against #3 Team MACS (4-2) with the hopes of going a perfect 7-0 in the Regular Season.

2. Team Sharrin – 4-2

Team Sharrin was tasked with a difficult DH on Thursday evening and was able to walk out of Windy City Fieldhouse with a solid split. In their first game of their scheduled double header, Team Sharrin dropped a tough game to #6 Team Double RIM Jobs by a final score of 67-47. Team Sharrin really struggled to get anything going in this Game offensively as they put up their lowest scoring output so far this season. Zach Hilgendorf provided more than 85% of the squads scoring in this contest, dropping a HUGE 41-point performance. Unfortunately, nobody else on Team Sharrin was able to get it going and Team Sharrin would drop their second ball game of the year. The second game of their scheduled DH went much better than their first as Team Sharrin picked up a crucial 77-67 victory over Team Copters. Zach Hilgendorf led them once again in scoring in this contest, supplying 31 points. Mr. Hilgendorf did call on his cavalry in this contest and Cory Stern and Max Forman heard the call as they combined to score 26 points to help lead Team Sharrin to their 4th victory on the campaign. Team Sharrin have now given themselves the opportunity to finish the regular season as the overall #2 seed heading into the Playoffs. A win for Team Sharrin vs #5 Team Da Bulls in our Week 7 Game of the Week will guarantee them the #2 overall seed. A loss in Week 7 however and a whole world of scenarios can unfold in terms of where they will be seeded come playoffs. Their task is simple on Thursday, Nov 29 – just win!

3. MACS – 4-2

Moving up into the #3 hole of the Week 6 Power Rankings is none other than Team MACS. By the final score of 48-38, Team MACS squeezed by INDY Team #3 to give themselves an opportunity to head into the playoffs as a Top-3 seeded team. Evan had a big night posting 15 points and Mike Crawford pitched in with 11 points of his own. Team MACS was without their leading scorer Danny Waytula on Thursday night and it showed as they tied their lowest scoring output of the year. Week 7’s match-up against #1 Team Porter is crucial for their seeding aspirations. A win guarantees them a top-3 seed while a loss could push them as low as the #6. This is a huge match-up for these guys and they will want to get that W to avoid that dreaded #4 vs #5 match-up in round 1.

4. Avengers 5.0 – 4-2

Team Avengers 5.0 sits at 4-2 following their split on Thursday night against #1 Team Porter and #5 Team Da Bulls. By the final score of 90-61, Team Avengers 5.0 suffered a blowout loss to #1 Team Porter in their first game on Thursday night. Russell Fions led the way in this contest for Team Avengers 5.0, scoring 23 of the squads 61 points. They would rebound very nicely in Game 2 of their double header however as they recorded a huge 75-73 nerve racking victory over #5 Team Da Bulls. Chris Spaly and Russell Fions stole the show in this contest, combing to score 50 of the squads 75 total points. With their split in Week 6, Team Avengers 5.0 are now in a 3-way tie with #2 Team Sharrin and #3 Team MACS. If the Playoffs started today, Team Avengers 5.0 would start as the #4 seed as they have the worst H2H record (0-2) with the other two teams sitting at 4-2. That being said, Team Avengers 5.0 can still finish as high as the #2 seed if they win their Week 7 game and both #2 Team Sharrin AND #3 Team MACS lose their games in Week 7. HUGE week coming up in Week 7 when we return from Thanksgiving Break.

5. Da Bulls – 3-3

Team Da Bulls lost a heart-breaker on Thursday night, falling to Team Avengers 5.0, 75-73. The loss was their second in a row and drops their record to 3-3. Five different players were able to get in double digit scoring figures for Team Da Bulls in this contest, led by Alexander Ainsworth’s 16 points. Unfortunately for Team Da Bulls, that just wasn’t enough to get past a determined Team Avengers 5.0 crew. Team Da Bulls will now close out the regular season in Week 7 with a match-up against a 4-2 Team Sharrin squad in our Week 7 Game of the Week! Team Sharrin will be looking to lock themselves in as the overall #2 seed. This game will have major ramifications in terms of where these teams will be seeded come Playoffs. A win here for Team Da Bulls could potentially push them up all the way to the #2 seed, while a loss here could potentially see them seeded as low as the #6 seed. Both squads will come out determined and focused on Thursday, Nov 29 when we return from Thanksgiving Break, which should translate into a fantastic ball game.

Rest of the Pack (Alphabetical Order)

Copters – 0-6

Team Copters dropped their 6th straight game on Thursday night, falling to #3 Team MACS. Jim O’Connor and Jared Funk had huge night’s offensively for Team Copters, combing to score 50 of their squads 67 points. However, they just were not able to get anyone else going and unfortunately could not keep the League’s leading scorer, Zach Hilgendorf at bay. They are just not playing the way that we know they can, and much of this is due to the fact that they do not have a single player that is scoring more than 13.5 PPG. Jim O’Connor leads the team in the scoring category, posting those 13.5 PPG. They need to find that one guy that can take over ball games and right now they just do not have that. Week 7 is a very important week for Team Copters as they will square off against INDY Team #3 (0-6). This is HUGE game for Team Copters as this Game is going to determine the #7 and #8 overall seeds. Winner gets the #7 spot and avoids #1 Team Porter in the Opening Round of the Playoffs, while the loser guarantees themselves a Game against the #1 Team in the League in the Opening Round.

Double RIM Jobs – 3-3

Big win on Thursday night for Team Double RIM Jobs who got back to the .500 mark in Week 6 beating #2 Team Sharrin by a final score of 67-47. Even with this big Week 6 Win, Team Double RIM Jobs stays unranked in our Week 6 Power Rankings as they are currently losing the H2H tiebreaker with the other squad sitting at 3-3, Team Da Bulls. Ron Olacetti led all the charge for Team Double RIM Jobs in this contest, dropping a huge 18-point performance to help seal his squads third victory on the campaign. The 18-points for Mr. Olacetti was a season high for him and it couldn’t have come at a better time. With this big Week 6 victory, Team Double RIM Jobs currently sit in the #6 spot in the standings at 3-3. A win against #3 Team Avengers 5.0 in their Regular Season finale on Thursday, Nov. 29 could potentially vault Team Double RIM Jobs as high as the #3 overall seed. A loss in Week 7 would see them finish as the overall #6 seed. Those are HUGE stakes in a game that directly impacts the entire middle of the pack – all eyes will be on them in Week 7!

INDY Team #3 – 0-6

INDY Team #3 dropped their 6th straight game in Week 6, falling to #3 Team MACS by a final score of 48-38. They really stepped it up on the defensive end of the court in this game as they allowed only 48 points to a team averaging nearly 57 PPG entering this contest. Chris Colla dropped his fourth straight double-digit scoring effort for INDY Team #3 in this game, pouring in 12 points to try to help his guys secure their first victory on the campaign. INDY Team #3 needs to forget about W/L at this point and just feel good about themselves and build some confidence heading into the Playoffs. Week 7 is a very important week for INDY Team #3 as they will square off against Team Copters (0-6). This is HUGE game for INDY Team #3 as this Game is going to determine the #7 and #8 overall seeds. Winner gets the #7 spot and avoids #1 Team Porter in the Opening Round of the Playoffs, while the loser guarantees themselves a Game against the #1 Team in the League in the Opening Round.

That wraps up Week 6! Enjoy your THANKSGIVING and we will see you back on the court on Thursday, November 29th for the Regular Season finale!
