Championship Week Review:

Final4: #2 Team Knox vs. #3 Team Nothing Special (Patidar)

Winner plays #1 Team Monday (Ljuboja)

Both groups had realistic expectations to be the final Team standing on Tuesday Night, but both knew that it would take a ton to not just win this one but to go on and defeat #1 Team Monday (Ljuboja) who was already waiting in the Championship Game for them. These squads met on two separate occasions during the regular season and we saw #2 Team Knox walk away with a 26-point victory back on 10/30 and a 27-point victory on 11/13. Those were two of Team Knox’s seven Wins during their very impressive 7-1 regular season. Team Nothing Special (Patidar) suffered only 3 losses during their regular season campaign, with two of those losses coming at the hands of #2 Team Knox. Would the third time be the charm for Team Nothing Special (Patidar)? One thing was for certain however, #3 Team Nothing Special (Patidar) would give #2 Team Knox all that they could handle in this Final4 match-up.

Toussaint Knox came up huge for Team Knox in this Final4 match-up. He finished with 24 huge points, his highest scoring output on the year. Seth Parker for Team Nothing Special (Patidar) led all scorers in this game with 29 massive points, also his highest scoring output on the year. David Johnson and Tremell Adams had 19 and 13 respectively for the #2 seed while Chris Lipari and Dennis Kepcha were in double figures for #3 Team Nothing Special. There were countless lead changes in the first half of this contest. Down 27-24 in the first half, Captain Sherwin Patidar drilled a huge three pointer from the baseline to notch the game up at 27 apiece. Team Knox, looking to take control of this game, came out of halftime and made some big buckets to retake the lead. Team Nothing Special would not go away though. They would keep it within 5-7 points for the first 15 minutes of the second half but Team Knox would drill a huge 3 pointer from the corner to take a 73-62 lead and would not look back. By the final score of 81-67, Team Knox would book their spot in the Championship Game!

For Team Nothing Special (Patidar) – they have nothing to be ashamed about with this result. They certainly played well enough to win this game, but Team Knox’s experience would shine through and close this game out. It was certainly one of those Games where it was a shame that either squad had to lose. Team Nothing Special had a fantastic first season in our All Sports Series hoops league and we hope to see them again in one of our upcoming Winter leagues. Thanks for playing!

CHAMPIONSHIP: #1 Team Monday (Ljuboja) vs. #2 Team Knox

Minutes after their fantastic finish, #2 Team Knox had to somehow regroup and get right back on the Court for the Championship against the fresh Team Monday (Ljuboja). #1 Team Monday was aware of this and tried pushing the tempo early. Team Knox, still energized by their huge Final4 win, also came out wanting to push the tempo. These two squads would trade bucket after bucket for the first 10-15 minutes of this game. Team Knox would have a 1-point lead with 10 minutes left to play in the first half and would keep it super tight until halftime. Team Monday came out firing though in the second half and took a commanding 11-point lead through the first 4 minutes. Team Knox would not quit though and got the lead down to 4-points with a little over 4 minutes to play before Liam Lesniak’s clutch layup to take the lead back up to 6. Team Monday would not look back from that point on. Captain Miki saved his best game of the year for the biggest game of the year, dropping 27 huge points to lead all scorers in this Championship game for Team Monday. Liam Lesniak, Jake Lerman and Isaac Masters were all in double figures for Team Monday. Team Monday would win this one and cap off a perfect 2018 Fall TUESDAY Season! More on the Champs in a bit.

For Team Knox – they gave everything they had to give. They won a very tough Final4 Game to keep their fantastic season alive, but the real culprit here was the schedule for them. Playing back2backs in the Playoffs against a fresh team is just a lethal task. They are obviously a championship-level squad though and if/when they run this group back – another Crown is in their future. Thanks for playing!

Now to Team Monday – 10-0! They did everything they needed to do in their run to the Crown. They had a perfect regular season at 8-0 and capped off their perfect regular season with two more wins in the Playoffs. They overcame some stuff this season and still came out on top! They will be proud of this one, as they should be. We hope to see them back on the court this Winter to defend their crown. Thanks for playing!

That’s it for the Fall Season. Hope to see you all back out there this Winter! Thanks again for playing!
