2018 Chicago Fall TUESDAY Hoops Playoff Preview – (Nov. 13)

Updated: November 19, 2018

We have arrived, at long last, upon the 2018 Fall TUESDAY Hoops postseason. This is great news for all 7 of our Teams as it is essentially a brand-new season for each of them. The caveat however is that each game from here on out will be do-or-die as the Winners from each of these games move on to the next round, while the losers from each game will have to pack it up for the Winter. It feels like we were just talking about the preseason and getting high hopes about our squads. But now we are heading into the postseason, and the Chicago Fall TUESDAY Hoops playoffs are about to get underway. With all 7 teams ready to fight for their shot at the title, let’s take a hard look at how this crazy game of poker is going to play out. It’s time to strap in; sorry Jim Mora, we are talking about Playoffs. Let’s go!

Playoff Preview

Final4: #1 Team Monday (Ljuboja) vs. Winner #4/#5

Team Monday (Ljuboja) earned the BYE to the Final4 when they clinched the #1 seed last week with a blowout victory over Team Lakeview Lakers by a final score of 77-35. They finish the regular season with a perfect 8-0 record and in doing so, they are going to be heavy favorites against whomever they play in the Final4. They will take on the Winners of #4 Team J-V Nation (Raja) and #5 INDY Team #5. These guys are going to look to push the pace against a tired Team and run their way into the Championship Game!

Elite8: #4 Team J-V Nation (Raja) vs. #5 INDY Team #5

Winner plays #1 Team Monday (Ljuboja)

The #4/#5 Elite8 round match-up has a chance to steal the show on Tuesday night and will be our Game of the Week! The 4/5 Game is usually a very even match-up and these two Teams are more than capable of turning in special Playoff performances. These two squads met all the way back on Opening Night (Oct. 2nd) and on that evening #4 Team J-V Nation won in dramatic fashion, beating INDY Team #5 by a final score of 70-66. But that was then, and this is now, and this will be a totally different Game in which anything can happen. Team J-V Nation will be led by Anfernee Tevin James and his 24.86 PPG average on the year, meanwhile INDY Team #5 will be led by David Greer and Ian Ryder who are both averaging around 11 PPG. These two squads are so evenly matched that either of these clubs could not only win this game but can take the title home this year. Both Groups need to be locked in here to get the Win. The Winner will move on to the Final4 right away on Tuesday night where they will presumably assume the role of David v. the Goliath known as #1 Team Monday (Ljuboja). First things first, their Elite8 match-up awaits!

Elite8: #2 Team Knox vs. #7 Team Plan B Especial

Team Knox earned the #2 seed thanks to their spectacular 7-1 regular season record and as a result get to take on #7 Team Plan B Especial in the Elite8 Round Game. #2 Team Knox will be rolling into Windy City Fieldhouse on Tuesday night on a 7-game winning streak. They have not lost a game since Opening Night. Captain Andre and his almost 18 PPG average will be looking to record their third Win against #7 Team Plan B Especial this season. A win for #2 Team Knox will see them advance to the Final4 on Tuesday, November 27th and await the winner of the #3/#6 match-up. A loss will see them pack up their bags a lot sooner than they expected and say sayonara to their 2018 campaign. #7 Team Plan B Especial enters the 2018 postseason as the overall #7 seed as they finished their Regular Season campaign with a 1-7 overall record and lost their H2H match-up with #6 Team Lakeview Lakers. They’ll enter the postseason with an overall 1-7 as just stated, but the fact that they will be meeting #2 Team Knox for the third time this season should work in their favor as they can create a game-plan in stopping the highest scoring team in the league. Rudy Stith and Jan Szarwark led Team Plan B Especial in scoring during the regular season and they will be heavily leaned on in this match-up if they plan on advancing to the Final4 round.

Elite8: #3 Team Nothing Special (Patidar) vs. #6 Team Lakeview Lakers

Team Nothing Special and Captain Sherwin Patidar will enter the 2018 postseason as the #3 seed as they won the H2H tiebreaker with #4 Team J-V Nation (Raja), and as a result get to take on #6 Team Lakeview Lakers in the Elite8 Round Game. These two squads were scheduled to face one another a few weeks ago back on November 6th but Team Lakeview Lakers were unable to field a legal Team that evening and had to take the forfeit loss. It’ll be a new day and a new Game however coming up on Tuesday night and Team Nothing Special should not overlook Team Lakeview Lakers who has shown they can play with the League’s best. Team Nothing Special is led by Joe Pace and his 20.50 PPG average and will be a handful for Team Lakeview Lakers. Playoff Games do however have a way of getting crazy and if Team Lakeview Lakers can put some pressure on the favorites early, who knows what can happen. Only one spot in the Final4 is available for these 2 Teams. The eventual Winner is looking at a likely matchup with #2 Team Knox. We did get to see a #2 Team Knox vs. #3 Nothing Special on a couple of occasions during the Regular Season and #2 Team Knox won both of those games by a combined 53 points. A rematch between those two squads would surely be a fun one with a spot in the Championship on the line! But as we have stated before, anything can happen in the Playoffs!

That’s it for the Playoff Preview! Good Luck to everyone on Tuesday Night!
