Playoff Review

Elite8: #4 Team J-V Nation (Raja) vs. #5 INDY Team #5

Winner plays #1 Team Monday (Ljuboja)

We stated in last week’s Playoff Preview that this #4 vs. #5 match-up would be our Game of the Week and boy were we right! These two squads battled until the very end, literally. Both teams had guys making big-time play after big-time play. By the final score of 64-54, Team J-V Nation (Raja) was able to gut one out and advance into the Final4. Anfernee Tevin James went for 25 to lead Team J-V Nation in the Elite8 round while Greg Gillespie had 17. Team J-V Nation was able to knock down a few shots late in this contest and grab a lead in what was seemingly a one-possession game the entire time. They were able to dig deep and find a way to pull it out and would advance to the Final4 for a date with #1 Team Monday (Ljuboja)!

For INDY Team #5, this was certainly not the way they saw their season come to an end. These strangers came together as a Team this Fall and competed every time out. They came into Tuesday night as the #5 seed and gave the #4 seed, Team J-V Nation all that they can handle. They were in this ballgame all the way until the end, but it just wasn’t meant to be. The team’s leading scorer on the season, Bree Fuller, had a very nice Elite8 round game by putting up 21 points. Unfortunately, these guys just did not have enough left in their tanks down the stretch to beat a very solid Team J-V Nation crew. We hope to see these guys in one of the Winter Leagues coming up. Thanks for playing!

Final4: #1 Team Monday (Ljuboja) vs. #4 Team J-V Nation (Raja)

For as good as Team J-V Nation (Raja) looked in the Elite8 round game to earn their spot in this Final4 game, it was really the opposite in this one. Team J-V Nation were just gassed. #1 Team Monday (Ljuboja) did not take pity on Team J-V Nation and pushed the pace. Falling by a final score of 88-47, Team J-V Nation came up way short. They started off the game with the same momentum that they had in their Elite8 round game but could not keep it up in the second half. Jeremiah Bankole scored 21 and the squads leading scorer Anfernee Tevin James had 11, however they could not find much production from anyone else. These guys will be back and if they can get their full roster intact for the Winter, they will once again be among the title favorites. Thanks for playing gentleman!

For Team Monday (Ljuboja), they came into the playoffs as the #1 seed and overall title favorites. They did not disappoint on Tuesday night. By a final score of 88-47, Team Monday cruised by Team J-V Nation and booked their spot in the Finals! One of the league’s leading scorers, Liam Lesniak, stepped up big once again in this Final4 round match-up and dropped 34 huge points to help his squad reach the Championship Game. Coming up on Tuesday night, Team Monday will take the court at 7:30PM for the Championship Game to finish off the perfect season. They’ll take on the Winner of #2 Team Knox vs. #3 Team Nothing Special (Patidar). Team Monday (Ljuboja) went a perfect 2-0 against these two squads during the regular season and will be full on confidence heading into the Championship game.

Elite8: #2 Team Knox vs. #7 Team Plan B Especial

Team Plan B Especial knew that they had a tough mountain to climb in their Elite8 round match-up with All Sports Series veterans Team Knox on the schedule. The mountain proved to be too steep to climb as Team Plan B Especial lost 113-71. Team Plan B Especial showed a ton of fight to begin this game on their final night of the Fall season. They had four different guys in double digits, a common theme from this crew during the regular season. The issue seemed to be that they just could not find that one guy to have a huge offensive night like some of the top teams had. It would be great to see this group back in the Winter to see what kind of damage they can do. Thank you for playing and we hope you see you all back soon!

We’ve talked about their resume many times during the season. Team Knox has won titles over the past few seasons in All Sports Series leagues. They were looking to advance to the Final4 on Tuesday night against a Plan B Especial squad that was not going to go down without a fight. By the final score of 113-71, Team Knox picked up their 8th consecutive win and booked another trip into the Final4! This was an absolute all-around team performance as five different players were able to record double digit scoring figures. Chris White led the way with 21 while Tremell Adams, Chris Elder and Captain Andre Knox all chipped in 20 points apiece to help these guys cruise to a 42-point victory. Team Knox now gets a date with #3 Team Nothing Special (Patidar) in the Final4 coming up on Tuesday night with the winner advancing to the Championship game. These two teams squared off against one another twice during the Regular Season and Team Knox walked away with a 26-point victory and a 27-point victory on those two occasions. Team Knox will be full of confidence heading into Tuesday night, but I have a feeling this Final4 match-up will be much closer than the two previous meetings during the Regular Season.

Elite8: #3 Team Nothing Special (Patidar) vs. #6 Team Lakeview Lakers

#3 Team Nothing Special and Captain Sherwin Patidar entered the Elite8 round as favorites – having the better record and defeating #6 Team Lakeview Lakers during the Regular Season. Unfortunately for Team Lakeview Lakers, they did not have enough available bodies to field a legal Team on Tuesday night and had to take the forfeit loss. Team Nothing Special (Patidar) recorded the forfeit Win and punched their ticket to the Final4 coming up on Tuesday night where #2 Team Knox awaits them. Winner of this Game will get a shot at the Title versus #1 Team Monday (Ljuboja).

For Team Lakeview Lakers, it was a disappointing end, but this season had a ton of highlights for them. Most notably, their huge buzzer beating victory over Team Plan B Especial in Week 4. Team Lakeview Lakers had a very nice season and we hope to see them back in another All Sports Series League soon. Thanks for playing!

What a great opening night of Playoffs. Thanks again to the teams that finished up on Tuesday night and we hope to see you back in the Winter. Good luck to the last 3 remaining teams competing on Tuesday Night!
