2018 Chicago Fall TUESDAY Hoops Week 1 – (Oct. 02)

Updated: October 7, 2018

On Tuesday Night, All Sports Series tipped off its second annual Fall TUESDAY Hoops League at Windy City Fieldhouse. Along for the ride this Fall are a few talented and experienced All Sports Series Franchises. We also have a couple of newcomers this season who’ll be looking to cement their names in the All Sports Series community. Team Knox is the most experienced All Sports Series group this Fall and has an All Sports Series crown to their name. They’ll be looking to add another crown to their mantle this Fall. Team Monday (Ljuboja) is another group that has a lot of All Sports Series Hoops experience and will be looking to claim their first Hoops crown this Fall. They’ll be licking their chops this Fall to get to the promise land. The rest of the teams this Fall may not have much or any All Sports Series experience under their belts, but they are no rookies to the Chicago Hoops scene. For most teams in this Fall Hoops league, the first week of action doesn’t change much. Yes, the results can force knee-jerk reactions from those on the outside but, for the most part, preseason analysis holds true after the (very) small samples from last year. The teams vying for the Crown on Tuesdays this Fall are in a VERY deep field. Although much can’t ever be made of the first week of games, we still rank all the teams below. Strap on your seat belts and get ready as this is going to be a fun and very competitive Fall Hoops season!

Quickly, for those Playing in their first All Sports Series League.. Here’s what to expect from the weekly Power Rankings.. Each week we’ll take a statistical look at the Teams and Rank them 1-5 with the UnRanked Teams listed alphabetically.. Also, if you have ever want to find any info on the League.. Go to Chicago Leagues > Fall TUESDAY Hoops League.. Everything you’d need from Stats to Schedules to Standings etc. will be found there..

Power Rankings

1. Team Monday (Ljuboja) – 1-0

This group of guys may have changed Captains this Fall but their result on Tuesday night showed it doesn’t matter who’s at the helm. By a final score of 90-76, Team Monday and Captain Miki Ljuboja pick up a huge opening night victory over All Sports Series veterans Team Knox and open the 2018 Fall Rankings as the #1 team. Liam Lesniak led the way on Tuesday evening for Team Monday, dropping a huge 27-point performance to help seal the deal on opening night. Jake Lerman and Captain Mike also made huge contributions, combing to score 41 points of their own. This group of guys can put up big numbers every week and any team that lines up across the court from them will have their hands full. They also held a Team Knox crew that is notorious for putting up HUGE numbers, to only 75 points. That is a big accomplishment and shows us that their defense will be no pushovers either. These guys are talented and will be true contenders for the crown this Fall. They’ll look to build on this big Week 1 victory and try to stay undefeated coming up on Tuesday night when they take the court against J-V Nation (1-0).

2. Nothing Special (Patidar) – 1-0

By the final score of 63-46, Team Nothing Special and Captain Sherwin Patidar got their 2018 Fall season off to great start and recorded their first ever All Sports Series Hoops win. Captained by the savvy and outgoing Sherwin Patidar, Team Nothing Special came out firing on all cylinders on Tuesday evening and were led by Chris Lipari’s 18-point performance. Three other players all recorded double digit scoring figures in this one as Dennis Kepcha and Seth Parker both had 14, while Nick Jordan pitched in with 10 of his own. This team is very balanced and can put up big numbers on any given Tuesday (as evident with their 63-point performance on opening night). Team Nothing Special looks to be one of the most talented groups in the league this Fall, and, for the most part, they showed that on Tuesday night. They will look to build upon their very strong opening night performance and will want nothing less than a shot at the title this Fall. Coming up in Week 2, Team Nothing Special will look to take their record to 2-0 as they take on INDY Team #5 (0-1).

3. J-V Nation (Raja) – 1-0

Coming in at the #3 spot in the Week 1 Power Rankings is another rookie All Sports Series crew, Team J-V Nation. If Week 1 was any indication, this is a group that is going to go very deep into the Playoffs this Fall. What an impressive debut from Captain Mo Raja’s squad. They come into their first Power Rankings in the Top-3 and that is a challenging feat in the All Sports Series Chicago Hoops Leagues. They defeated a good INDY Team #5 squad by a final score of 70-66 in Week 1 and looked strong while doing do. Anfernee Tevin James and Greg Gillespie provided most of the fire power on Tuesday night, dropping 20 points apiece to help lead their crew to their first ever All Sports Series Hoops victory. Jeremiah Trinidad also pitched in with 13 points and huge buckets down the stretch to help seal the deal. They’ll look to go for 2-0 coming up on Tuesday night against #1 Team Monday in what will be our Week 2 Game of the Week!

4. Team Knox – 0-1

If you really want to get an idea of how deep this Fall league is going to be, look no further than our #4 ranked team in Week 1, former All Sports Series Hoops Champs, Team Knox. I will tell everyone right now, Team Know is better than the #4 Team in this League. They didn’t have their best on Opening Night. We’ve seen crew get off to a slow start before, but they always make their presence known come the end of the Season. Captain Andre and co. can really fill the stat sheet on any night. Tremell Adams, who has won the scoring title in years past, led all scorers once again in Week 1, dropping a huge 32-point performance. These guys were a little shorthanded on Tuesday night, only dressing 5 total players, and it showed in the end as they just did not have enough in their tanks to keep up with a high scoring Team Monday crew. Toussaint Knox, Anthony Pierce and Alex Roberts all put-up double-digit scoring efforts in this one. They fell to #1 Team Monday on opening night – no shame in that. They look to pull back to .500 in Week 2 against Plan B Especial (0-1).

5. INDY Team #5 – 0-1

INDY Team #5 is a squad comprised of a group of free agents that are coming together for the season. These guys got down early to Team J-V Nation as they were trying to get a little chemistry with one another. In the second half they were able to battle back and make a very good game of this, but ultimately ended up dropping the game by a final score of 70-66. They will only get better as they get to know one another. Four different players ended up with double digit scoring efforts, led by Carl Smith and his 19-point performance. Bree Fuller also had a huge opening night, scoring 17 points of his own. David Greer and Ian Ryder pitched in with 13 and 11 respectively. In Week 2, they will take on #2 Team Nothing Special (1-0) to get their record to .500 and climb up in the Week 2 Power Rankings.

Rest of the Pack (Alphabetical Order)

Lakeview Lakers – 0-0

Plan B Especial (Loos) – 0-1

Plan B Especial and Captain Ken Loos may be new to the All Sports Series Hoops scene, but they are no strangers to the Chicago Hoops scene. These guys have a ton of experience in Chicago Sport and Social Club leagues and will be looking to make a name for themselves this Fall in their first ever All Sports Series Hoops league. Unfortunately, opening night did not go as planned for them as they dropped a tough game to #2 Team Nothing Special by a final score of 63-46. Jan Szarwark led the way for Team Plan B Especial on Tuesday evening, scoring 18 points. Captain Ken and Doug Bach also pitched in with 9 points apiece. These guys will be right in the thick of things this Fall. They’ll look to pick up their first ever All Sports Series Hoops victory coming up on Monday night and bring their record to .500 when they take the floor against #4 Team Knox (0-1).

That’s a wrap for Week 1! Looking forward to another great week coming up on Tuesday night!
