Updated: October 22, 2018

On Tuesday evening we had another great week of basketball in the Fall 2018 TUESDAY Hoops League! Don’t look now, but only two teams remain that have a big fat ZERO in the loss column through the first three weeks. Team Monday (Ljuboja) and Team Nothing Special (Patidar) have both won three straight games to start their 2018 Fall campaign and are starting to look like the teams we expected them to be heading into the 2018 season. These two squads have a huge matchup against one another in Week 4 that will certainly have major implications down the road in terms of Playoff seedings. Meanwhile, Team Lakeview Lakers early season struggles continued Tuesday night, while the 2-1 Team Knox crew seems to finally be on a roll, having won their second straight game on Tuesday night. Week 4 will be the more than half way point (can you believe it?) for the regular season. This is the time in the season where teams start/stop making stands and intentions known. This league is so evenly balanced in terms of talent and style, you can’t help but wonder which team(s) will start to cement their names at the top of our standings. Power Rankings

1. Team Monday (Ljuboja) – 3-0

Team Monday (Ljuboja), led by their veteran Captain Miki Ljuboja, competed in a game on Tuesday night with Team Lakeview Lakers where their defense absolutely dominated in this game. By the count of 87-24, Team Monday got a lopsided win to maintain a zero in the loss column this season and the #1 spot in our Week 3 Power Rankings. These guys really showed up on D, beating their season points against average of 49 PPG. Liam Lesniak had a very solid game to lead the crew’s Offense with 21 points and Jake Lerman chipped in with 16 of his own. Isaac Masters, Hunter Claire and Benjamin Lerman all had solid games as well, combining to score 37 points. Team Monday (Ljuboja) will seek to remain unbeaten coming up on Tuesday night with a double dip on their slate. They first will take the court against INDY Team #5 (1-3) before a date with #2 Team Nothing Special (3-0) in our Week 4 Game of the Week!

2. Nothing Special (Patidar) – 3-0

With a score of 48-45, Team Nothing Special (Patidar) got a very important and huge W over Team J-V Nation (Raja) to remain undefeated this season. The win in the Week 3 Game of the Week also sees this crew stay in the #2 spot in the Week 3 Power Rankings. This team really buckled down in this contest, emerging victorious, despite scoring less than their average points per game of 59. Joe Pace had a solid performance to lead the squad’s attack with 13 points. Chris Lipari also have a very nice night putting up 10 points while Jon Lampros and Dennis Kepcha also contributed with 6 points apiece to help their squad win their third straight game to start the 2018 Fall TUESDAY campaign. Team Nothing Special (Patidar) will have another tough test on Tuesday night and will look to remain unbeaten as they pair up against #1 Team Monday (3-0) in what will be our Week 4 Game of the Week!

3. Team Knox – 2-1

By the final score of 93-67, Team Knox rolled by Team Lakeview Lakers on Tuesday night to maintain a 1 in the loss column and stay in the #3 spot in the Week 3 Power Rankings. They really came out firing on all cylinders, coming in just shy of their points per game average of 95.3. Tremell Adams had a monster game to guide the team’s Offense with 31 points. He wasn’t the only guy that had a huge night for Team Knox on Tuesday night as Captain Andre also put up 23 big points of his own. Anthony Pierce also stepped up and contributed 22 points as these three guys combined to score more than 80% of their team’s total points! Team Knox will look to bring their record up to 3-1 coming up on Tuesday night with a showdown versus #4 Team J-V Nation (Raja) who will be looking to snap their current two game losing streak.

4. Plan B Especial (Loos) – 1-2

Moving all the way up into the #4 spot in the Week 3 Power Rankings is Team Plan B Especial, led by their experienced Captain, Ken Loos. Team Plan B Especial (Loos) recorded a very solid victory on Tuesday evening by the final score of 65-60 over INDY Team #5. This team fought hard on both ends of the court for this contest for the hard-fought victory. Rudy Stith and Jan Szarwark both had good showings on Tuesday night to steer their club’s Offense, scoring 16 points and 14 points respectively. Rawlins Riles and Anthony Nguyen also chipped in with 10 points apiece to help secure their team’s first victory on the 2018 Fall TUESDAY campaign. Team Lakeview Lakers (0-3) are next up on the docket for Team Plan B Especial (Loos) as they look to keep the winning momentum turning in Week 4.

5. Team J-V Nation (Raja) – 1-2

Dropping from the #4 to the #5 spot in the Week 3 Power Rankings is Team J-V Nation, led by gritty Captain Mo Raja. Unfortunately for Team J-V Nation, these guys really struggled to get it going on Offense in this one, scoring less than their average of 54.3 PPG this season. By the final score of 48-45, Team J-V Nation lost a very close one to #2 Team Nothing Special (Patidar) in our Week 3 Game of the Week. The leading scorer for Team J-V Nation was Anfernee Tevin James who accounted for 15 points. Anfernee now sits in fourth place in the race for the leagues scoring title with 19 PPG. 6 other players were able to get on the scoreboard on Tuesday night, unfortunately they were stifled by a suffocating Team Nothing Special D all night long. Next up for Team J-V Nation is a showdown against #3 Team Knox (2-1), as they will look to shake off this disappointing loss and get back into the winner’s circle.

Rest of the Pack (Alphabetical Order)

INDY Team #5 – 1-3

INDY Team #5 somewhat struggled to get rolling in terms of scoring in their Week 3 game against Team Plan B Especial (Loos), scoring fewer than their average of 65.3 PPG on the year. By the final score of 65-60, INDY Team #5 lost a close one and dropped their third overall game on the 2018 TUESDAY Fall campaign. The loss also drops them into the unraked in the Week 3 Power Rankings. David Greer carried his squad in this one with 23 points while Ian Ryder put up his second straight double-digit performance, scoring 18. Carl Smith also had a solid performance on Tuesday night, netting 15 points to help keep his guys in this game. Next up for INDY Team #5 is a battle versus #1 and undefeated Team Monday (3-0) as they look to bounce back from this loss and get back on the winning track.

Team Lakeview Lakers – 0-3

Team Lakeview Lakers left Week 3 still searching for their first W of the season, but it will come. They were tasked with an extremely tough double header on Tuesday night against the #1 and #3 ranked teams in the league. In the first game of their scheduled double-dip, Team Lakeview Lakers battled extremely hard against #3 Team Knox but came up just short, falling by a final score of 93-67. Craig Pilla led the way for Team Lakeview Lakers in this one, dropping a huge 23-point performance to try to keep his guys in this game. Unfortunately, there was just too much firepower from a high scoring Team Knox crew. In the backend of their scheduled double header, Team Lakeview Lakers got behind early and could never make a run, dropping the game to #1 Team Monday by the final count of 87-24. Team Lakeview Lakers is a squad that can finish the Regular Season over .500 with 4 Regular Season games remaining on their schedule. They have what it takes to go on a run here, they just need to get started. They get Team Plan B Especial (1-2) in Week 4. This could be the perfect time to turn it all around.

That’s it for Week 3! Good luck to all in Week 4!
