Power Rankings

1. Team Darcy – 1-0

Almost impossible to put anyone else in the #1 spot this week as not only is Team Darcy 1-0 to start off our 2018 Spring campaign, but they are also 4x overall Champs and will come into the 2018 Spring season as Back-to-Back Champs! This group is entering their 8th All Sports Series Hoops league and they have reached the Final4 in every All Sports Series league that they have played in. Pretty amazing if you ask me! The big question is however…can they make it a 3-peat? If you ask Tim Dunlaey of Team Darcy, he will say absolutely! Tim led the charge for Team Darcy on opening night as he poured in a game high 23 points to get his squad to 1-0 with an impressive 77-59 victory over Team Shlofrock. Eyad, Sam Martinez and Tom Dunlaey also had big nights, combining to score 46 of the teams 77 points. Next Tuesday Team Darcy tips off against an 0-1 Team Jimenez squad looking to get their first win on the 2018 Spring season.

2. Team Knox – 1-0

Captain Andre Knox is a seasoned vet of All Sports Series and specifically the Chicago Hoops Leagues. His squads have made deep runs over the past few seasons but he like many other All Sports Series teams, are still searching for that allusive first Crown. Captain Andre is joined by Tremell Adams and Chris White, both of which scored over 20 points in their season opener on Tuesday night to lead Team Knox past a feisty Team Watts squad by a final score of 85-77. Captain Andre was able to contribute 18 of his own while Mike Binns poured in 16 to secure their first victory on the 2018 Spring campaign. Team Knox showed on Tuesday night that they have a very balanced attack and can make big time plays when needed. They will certainly be in contention once again for the Tuesday Spring Hoops Crown. They’ll have to keep working hard though as they have a very tough test with #5 Team Shlofrock in Week 2!

3. Team Deutsch – 1-0

By the final score of 81-69, Team Deutsch got off to a great start and recorded their first win in their 2018 Tuesday Spring Hoops league campaign. Captained by All Sports Series veteran Justin Deutsch, Team Deutsch came out firing on all cylinders on Tuesday night and were led by William Sullivan’s 21-point performance. Three other players all recorded double digit scoring figures in this one as Brian Oddo had 14, Briggs King had 13 and David Hess had 12. This team is very balanced and can put up big numbers on any given Tuesday. Team Deutsch looks to be one of the most talented groups in the league, and, for the most part, they showed that on Tuesday night. Coming up in Week 2, Team Deutsch has a very difficult match-up against All Sports Series rookies, but undefeated at 1-0, Team Immunity.

4. Team Immunity – 1-0

Team Immunity comes into the Tuesday Spring Hoops league as the only All Sports Series rookies. This is their first go around in any All Sports Series league but that did not deter them from making some noise in Week 1. By the final score of 59-38, Team Immunity did not look intimidated whatsoever on Tuesday night and walked out of Windy City Fieldhouse with their first All Sports Series win. Team Immunity is captained by Mr. Isaiah Watts (hence the team name and why we do not have two Team Watts) and based on what we saw from them on Tuesday night, will be serious contenders for the Tuesday Spring Hoops Crown! They were led by Brian Hanks who paced the squad with 15 points, while Yussf Gheriani pitched in with 12 points of his own. Captain Isaiah and Charlie Kennedy also contributed to the winning cause by putting up 9 points apiece. They get a very tough test coming up in Week 2 when they square off against #3 Team Deutsch in our Week 2 Game of the Week!

5. Team Watts – 0-1

Coming in at #5 spot after the first week of games – Team Watts. By the final score of 85-77, Team Watts lost a very close one to #2 Team Knox. I have a feeling these guys will be moving up our Power Rankings as the weeks move along as these guys can put up big numbers on any given night. Danny Nordman had a huge night posting 22 points and almost single handedly carried his guys to victory. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t enough on this chilly Tuesday evening. Samuel Weeks posted 19 points, Captain and floor general Mack Watts had 16 points and Will Hansen contributed 11 of his own. Unfortunately for Team Watts, they struggled to get their other guys involved on offense as Tom Eggleston and Ian McDonald combined to only score 9. They’ll need more contributions from these guys against #1 and defending Champs Team Darcy coming up on Tuesday if they plan on recording their first W on the season.

6. Team Dean – 0-1

Rounding out the Top-6 is Team Dean. This is a group that is going to go very deep into the Playoffs this Spring. They are among the favorites and falling in Week 1 to a very good #3 Deutsch won’t change that. Team Dean has made a name for themselves over the past few years in the Chicago Hoops League and many are aware of their talent. Captain and floor general Tredrick Dean is an All Sports Series veteran who captains many teams and knows how to build a roster and culture of winning. He, along with Courtney Griffin and Will, all dropped 10 points apiece to try to keep their squad in this game. They are all joined by big man Marian Knezovic who had 13 points to lead the team in scoring on Tuesday night and is a walking Double Double machine. This is a group that should fly up the Rankings in no time. They get #5 Team Watts in Week 2 coming up on Tuesday night. Winner of this game brings their record back to .500 while the losing team will start their Spring campaign at 0-2 and a huge hole to climb out of. Important game for both squads.

Rest of the Pack (Alphabetical Order)

Team Jimenez – 0-1

Team Jimenez is led by the returning Alex Jimenez. He leads a squad of All Sports Series vets including Jonathon Frosolone and Nick Nolan. Unfortunateley for Team Jimenez, they came out a little flat on Tuesday night and dropped their first game on the season by a final score of 59-38 to Team Immunity. The 38 points was the lowest scoring total by any team in Week 1. Jonathon Frosolone led his squad with 12 points while Tommy pitched in with 10 of his own. Team rest of the guys on Team Jimenez struggled with their shots all night as they were only able to muster up 16 points between the five of them. The bad news is that they are 0-1 to start off their 2018 Tuesday Spring campaign. The good news is that they still have at least 6 more games to turn this thing around. They’ll look to get their first win of the season in Week 2 against #1 Team Darcy coming up on Tuesday night.

Team Shlofrock – 0-1

From what I’ve seen during our Winter season, Team Shlofrock is better than what they showed on Tuesday night. They regrettably did not have their best stuff on opening night as they went down to defending champs Team Darcy by a final score of 77-59. This game was closer than what the final score indicated however. Captain Jake Shlofrock leads this crew once again this Spring after having an amazing Winter season where he averaged over 15 PPG. Unfortunately for Jake, his shots just did not seem to want to fall into the hoop on Tuesday night as he finished with just 2 points. They were also without their leading scorer from the Winter season, Jake Lerman who averaged more than 20 PPG, and it showed on Tuesday night as they were only able to muster up 59 total points. Andrew Marks and Adam Rhum led the way with 13 points apiece, but it just wasn’t enough to keep pace with the high scoring offense of Team Darcy. These guys have started off slow before, but they always seem to make their presence known come the end of the season. They’ll look to rebound from this loss, pull back to .500 and move up our Power Rankings in Week 2 when they tip-off against #2 Team Knox coming up on Tuesday night.

That’s a wrap for Week 1! Looking forward to another great week coming up on Tuesday night!
