Championship:
#1 Team Maione vs. #2 Team Deutsch

And then there were 2! Team Maione would be on the Mt. Rushmore of Chicago All Sports Series’ League Teams (not just Hoops Leagues but in general). They have now made it to 3-straight Summer Hoops title games and were looking to take home their 2nd Summer title in the last 3 years. In the other corner, is Team Deutsch who has put together another solid Hoops season and were looking to grab that ever illusive title. Considering the level of talent they have run through this Season, it would be no easy task. They were now one victory away from immediately launching themselves onto the radar of everyone in our Hoops League scene – not just Tuesday Nights. Both Teams can really play, and we were in store for an excellent and thrilling Championship game.

This Championship game did nothing but live up to the hype as #2 Team Deutsch outlasted #1 Team Maione 82-79 on a thrilling buzzer beater as time expired. Team Maione felt the full effects of not having one of their star players in attendance, Chris Wroblewski, as their offense just couldn’t put it fully together in this one. Another great story line we had for this one was the brother vs. brother match-up between Bradley and Justin Deutsch. With Papa Deutsch in attendance and chanting his name from the cheap seats: “Brad-ley, Brad-ley”, Bradley put on a show for his father and led his team with 18 points. It however wasn’t enough as younger brother Justin came away with the last laugh. By the time Justin’s crew was done doing their damage, Team Deutsch had finally gotten their title and All Sports Series Hoops leagues had their newest rivalry. William Sullivan and Brian Oddo were unstoppable as they combined for 39 points respectfully. They led their fast pace offense with a variety of 3-point shots, nasty no look passes and clutch defensive stops. Team Deutsch played tremendous defense on athletic forward Tellef Lundevall and made Dylan Richter work hard for his 15 points. Special shout-out to Micheal Marietti who contributed 16 and Jake Bischoff who had 15 for Team Deutsch to help lift the trophy (or shirts). These two wanted to make sure they didn’t have a repeat from last Spring’s unforgettable loss. We look forward to seeing these two teams battle it out in future Championship games.

For the Runners-up Team Maione – It was another amazing run. They didn’t leave with the ultimate prize but in what was a competitive league, they were a force to be reckoned with all season and advanced to the Championship Game for the third straight Summer. Their focus now turns to THE Chicago Hoops League which will begin in mid-October and will hopefully feature them along with some of the other best Hoops teams in Chicago. Thanks for playing!

To the Champs Team Deutsch! First off, big Congratulations! They were dominant and fun to watch play this Summer. We are hoping they will enter THE Chicago Hoops League later this Fall where they would quickly be able to make a name for themselves over there. Thank you for playing and Congratulations once again on a fantastic Summer season!

That’s it for Tuesday Nights this Summer. Thanks for playing! We hope to see everyone out on the courts in the Fall!
