Open. Rd.: #8 Team Luger vs. #9 Team Bernstein

Winner plays #1. Team Lenny and the Jets

These two squads met back on January 23rd in Week 3 and we saw Team Luger walk out of WCFH with a 21-point victory, beating Team Bernstein 56-35. In fact, that was the last time Team Luger picked up a victory as they will be heading into Tuesday night riding a four-game losing streak. Team Bernstein hasn’t had much better luck recently as they will come into opening round action winless during the regular season and riding a seven-game losing streak. Back in Week 3, Captain Max Unger led the charge and had the game high with 16 points and Ben Luger dropped 12 to help Team Luger get past Team Bernstein. They’ll need the same production out of these fellas if they hope to get the W in the Opening Round. For Team Bernstein, Samuel Ross was the leading scorer that night for his squad, pouring in 10 points. The Winners of this match-up will move on and play #1 Team Lenny and the Jets immediately following this one in the Elite8.

Elite8: #1 Team Lenny and the Jets vs. Winner #8/#9

#1 Team Lenny and the Jets awaits the winners of #8 Team Luger and #9 Team Bernstein. No matter who the opponent is, the one-loss #1 seed will be expected to punch their ticket to the Final4. They should have the services of Daniel Macks, the league’s second leading scorer, who can put up big numbers on any given night. Their opponent will likely start with a nice surge of momentum following their Opening Round W, if they can just withstand that early, they should be in good shape. These guys are going to look to push the pace against a tired team and run their way into the Final4! They are the clear-cut favorites to win the Elite8 round match-up and are early favorites to take down the title.

Elite8: #4 Team Knox vs. #5 Team Bollier

The highest scoring single game team total this season was back in Week 5 when Team Knox dropped 112 points and guess who that was against? You guessed it, Team Bollier. In what was one of the highest scoring games this season, Team Knox picked up a huge 112-94 victory over Team Bollier. Since that loss to Team Knox back on February 6th, Team Bollier has picked up two straight victories and heads into the Playoffs on Tuesday night riding some momentum. They’ll need to figure out how to stop the regular season scoring champ, Tremell Adams, as he will be coming into this match-up averaging 28 PPG. In their previous match-up, Tremell dropped 41 HUGE points! Another performance like this from him and Team Knox will surely be booking their tickets into the Final4. Team Knox heads into the Elite8 round on Tuesday night winners of two in a row themselves and three of their last four overall. They’ll have a tough task assigned to them as they will need to somehow stop and contain the two-headed monster of Nikko Robertson and Rodney Clark. Back in Week 5, Nikko dropped 25 big points against Team Knox. This game may just be the Game of the Week on Tuesday evening. The Winner here moves into the Final4 and both teams have the talent to go the distance.

Elite8: #2 bdarcy@commandtransportation.com vs. #7 Team Kaplan

Defending Champs #2 Team BDarcy will take on #7 Team Kaplan in Elite8 round action. Team BDarcy has made six straight Final4s and comes into the 2018 Winter postseason as the #2 seed for the second straight time. They are favored to make it seven straight and if they play their game they will do just that. They will come into Tuesday night riding the second longest winning streak in the league at four games. These two squads met just a couple of weeks ago and Team BDarcy walked away with a big 93-57 victory. Tom Dunlaey and Team BDarcy’s leading scorer Fadi Elayyan had huge nights in their previous matchup, scoring 25 and 21 respectively. Team Kaplan will come in as the #7 seed after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They’ll hope not to have a repeat performance of their game a couple of weeks ago against Team BDarcy as they lost by 36 points. They’ll need a big night out of their leading scorers, William Edge and Captain Brett Kaplan if they plan on pulling out any kind of upset here. This game has the potential of being fun as both squads will be looking to punch their ticket into the Final4.

Elite8: #3 Team Tucci vs. #6 Team Shlofrock

Team Tucci had an opportunity to go into the Playoffs as the #1 overall seed as they had two scheduled games on Tuesday night. Unfortunately for Team Tucci, they dropped both games and as a result will roll into the postseason as the #3 seed. Prior to losing both games of their double header this past Tuesday, Team Tucci had been one of the hottest teams in the league, winning five in a row. They will now need to shake these two losses off quickly as they get a rematch from opening night with Team Shlofrock. Back in Week 1, Team Tucci lost a tough one by the final score of 81-66 to Team Shlofrock. Jake Lerman for Team Shlofrock led all scorers in that game, posting 27 big points. Team Tucci will need to figure out a way to slow Jake down if they plan on booking their tickets to the Final4. Captain Alan Tucci will also need to continue his fantastic play if they have any chance to take down Team Shlofrock. This game also has the potential to be the Game of the Week as both squads have the talent and skill level on their rosters to win the whole thing. Can’t wait to see what happens!

That’s it for the Playoff Preview. Good Luck to everyone Tuesday Night!
