Updated: January 12, 2018

The 2018 Chicago Winter TUESDAY Hoops league has tipped off at long last, and although much can’t ever be made of the first week of games, we still rank all the teams. But before we start this weeks Power Rankings, I would first like to introduce myself to those of you who do not know me. My name is Marko Milanovic and I am the Senior Director of Operations for the Chicago Sport and Social Club. I have been with the Chicago Sport and Social Club for over 15 years and had been working with Holden Metz and All Sports Series for the past year and a half. As I am sure most of you are already aware, Holden has left All Sports Series and we all would like to congratulate Holden on his new and exciting opportunity. We are all sorry to see Holden go but I personally am very excited to have the opportunity to lead the All Sports Series charge moving forward. I know I have some HUGE shoes to fill but I will work very hard to make sure all of you enjoy the same experience that you had with Holden. We wish Holden the best of luck in his new endeavors! With that being said and without further ado, our Week 1 Power Rankings!

Power Rankings

1. bdarcy@commandtransportation.com – 1-0

“The Champ is Here!” in our Ali voice…. well at least our 2017 Fall TUESDAY champ is here. Extremely tough to put anyone else in the #1 spot this week as not only is bdarcy@commandtransportation.com 1-0 to start off our 2018 Winter campaign, but they are also 3x Champs! This group is entering their 7th Hoops League together in All Sports Series and they have reached the Final4 in every All Sports Series league that they have played in. Pretty impressive if you ask me. Sam Martinez lead the charge on opening night with 25 points while captain Bret pitched in with 18. Other teams in the league will have their hands full when they match-up against these boys as they move the ball around with poise and precision. It’s obvious they have some great team chemistry, the only question is, can they keep this #1 spot all season? Next week they tip off against an 0-1 Team Bollier squad that will be looking to get their first win on the season.

2. Team Luger – 1-0

We must start by mentioning Judd Barron. The leagues leading scorer after week 1, Judd came out firing on all cylinders dropping 38 huge points on Team Knox. By a final score of 84-81, Team Luger got a solid week 1 victory and will begin our Power Rankings in the #2 hole. Judd was unstoppable on Tuesday night, draining 3’s from all over the court. He made 8 to be exact. If Judd can bring this type of performance every week, it’s hard to imaging not seeing this team in the #1 spot in the near future. Captain Max Unger also had a very nice game scoring 17 points. Brad Tivin also chipped in with 16 to get this squad their first victory on the season. Next week Team Luger has a date with a 1-1 Lenny and the Jets team looking to bounce back from their loss on Tuesday evening.

3. Team Shlofrock – 1-0

Team Shlofrock had the biggest margin of victory on Tuesday night, beating up on Team Tucci 81-66. Jake Lerman for Team Shlofrock started off the evening a little rusty but came up huge in the second half and helped his squad secure their first victory on this young campaign. Three other guys, Captain Jake Shlofrock, Adam Rhum and Michael Pisanelli all put up double digit points and all came up huge in the second half to put this game in the bag. Next Tuesday Captain Jake and crew get to tip off against a Team Knox team that will be looking for some revenge after suffering their first defeat on the season last week.

4. Lenny and the Jets – 1-1

Lenny and the Jets came into week one with two games on the docket and were able to come out of Tuesday night with a 1-1 record. They started off the night by beating Team Bollier 85-80. Robert Monfred led the charge by scoring a solid 20 points but everyone on the team was able to contribute one way or another in this one. Spencer Barclay made a couple of 3’s and finished with 16 points to get this team started off on the right foot. In game two of their double-header, they fell just a little short to the defending Tuesday night champions bdarcy@commandtransportation.com by a final score of 73-67. Daniel Macks had a solid game in this one with 20 points and Spencer Barclay did his thing once again by putting up 16. These guys had their chances to start the season off 2-0 but came up just a little short. They’ll have an opportunity to get their second win on the season when they square off against a 1-0 Team Luger group that will also be looking to pick up their second win on this young season.

5. Team Knox – 0-1

Coming in at #5 spot after the first week of games – Team Knox. With a final score of 84-81, Team Knox lost a close one to Team Luger. I have a feeling these guys will be moving up our Power Rankings as the weeks move along as these guys can put up big numbers on any given night. Tremell Adams had a huge night posting 37 points and almost single handedly carried his guys to victory. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t enough on this cold Chicago evening. Chris White posted 26 points and captain Andre Knox also put in 10 points, but they struggled to get their other guys involved on offense as Toussaint Knox, Marcus White and Mike combined to only score 8. They’ll need more contributions from these guys against an 1-0 Team Shlofrock squad next Tuesday who will be looking to stay unbeaten.

6. Team Bollier – 0-1

Any time one of your star players scores 30 plus points, you have a real shot at winning. Unfortunately for Team Bollier, Rodney Clark’s 34-point performance was just not enough as Team Bollier lost a real close game to Lenny and the Jets by a final score of 85-80. If history is any indication of what is to come, Team Bollier will not be staying in the #6 hole for very long. Veteran Marcus Agee had 20 and Captain Drew did his thing by putting up 13 of his own. These guys will however need to regroup quickly from this tough loss as they get a match-up next Tuesday against former 3x Champs and #1 bdarcy@commandtransportation.com in what is sure to be a very competitive tilt!

7. Team Tucci – 0-1

From what I’ve seen and from what I hear, Team Tucci is better than the #7 team in the League. They regrettably didn’t have their best on Opening Night as they went down to Team Shlofrock 81-66. This game was definitely closer than what the final score indicated. Everyone on this squad on Tuesday night contributed as four different guys put up double digit points and not a single player scored less than 6. Ryan Brown led the way with 14 points while captain Alan Tucci made some really nice plays and put in 14 of his own. They’ve started off slow before, but they always seem to make their presence known come the end of the season. They’ll look to rebound from this loss, pull back to .500 and move up our Power Rankings in Week 2.

This is a good league with really good teams. I believe any of these teams can hold the #1 spot at some point or another during this season. Great games this week boys and looking forward to week 2 next Tuesday!
