Power Rankings

1. Team Lenny and the Jets – 5-1

Team Lenny and the Jets got another quality win on Tuesday night, defeating a very good Team Knox squad in a nail-biting seesaw affair, 97-96. The win makes it four in a row and five out of their last six for Team Lenny and the Jets. Daniel Macks came up with a terrific performance once again as he registered 28 huge points. Mr. Macks was electric Tuesday night, providing the squad with a little bit of everything as they were able to squeak by Team Knox and hold onto their #1 spot. Spencer Barclay also had a nice offensive night as he was able to pitch in 24 points of his own. This team is just so lethal on offense from multiple spots that it is very difficult for teams to slow them down. Coming up next Tuesday, Team Lenny and the Jets will square off against a winless Team Bernstein squad that will be doing anything and everything to get that first win on the season. Team Lenny and the Jets will need to come out ready to play and not overlook these guys if they plan on keeping the #1 spot for another week.

2. Team Tucci – 4-1

Team Tucci was very impressive on Tuesday Night. With their fourth win in a row, they hang onto the #2 spot in the Week 5 Power Rankings. They Won 93-72 against a solid Team Bernstein. All five starters posted double digit points for Team Tucci with Paul Kaczor leading the way with 29. The veteran Paul has now eclipsed double digit points in all five of his starts this season. The 29 on Tuesday night were also a season high for him. The team’s leading scorer on the other hand, Ryan Brown, also contributed 21 points to help his team get their fourth win on the season. Team Tucci has a big game coming up on Tuesday when they match up against a 2-3 Team Luger squad who’ll be looking to snap their two-game losing streak.

3. bdarcy@commandtransportation.com – 3-2

Back up to #3 in the Week 5 Power Rankings is Team BDarcy following their very big Week 5 win over Team Shlofrock. Eyad led the way with 15 while the team’s leading scorer, Fadi Elayyan, had 12. Captain Breton Darcy also chipped in with double digit points scoring 13. When they get this type of balance on the offensive end of the court, they are tough to beat. Week 6 brings forth a sneaky good group in #5 Team Kaplan, who sit just one game back of Team BDarcy in the Standings. Big game for both teams.

4. Team Knox – 3-3

Team Knox headed into Week 5 with two tough games on the docket. They were able to leave WCFH with a split, winning the first game 112-94 over Team Bollier before losing a heart-breaker to Team Lenny and the Jets in the back end of the double header, 97-96. The split on Tuesday night takes their record to 3-3 and moves them up to the #4 spot in the Week 5 Power Rankings. The team’s leading scorer and the league’s third leading scorer overall, Tremell Adams, was sensational in both games on Tuesday night. Adams generated 41 points in Game 1 of the double header! The 41 points were a single game league high this season which helped carry his squad to a big victory over Team Bollier. In Game 2 of the double header, Adams was able to produce 25 more points but ultimately was not enough as his crew lost a close one to Team Lenny and the Jets. Adams has been red-hot from the field on most Tuesday nights and will need another big performance next week as he and his squad take on #5 Team Kaplan.

5. Team Kaplan – 2-2

Entering Week 5 unranked, Team Kaplan got their record back to .500 by receiving a win by forfeit over Team Luger. The win moves Team Kaplan all the way up into the #5 spot in the Week 5 Power Rankings. Team Kaplan will now head into Week 6 with two extremely tough games on the schedule. In Game 1 of their double dipper in Week 6, Team Kaplan faces off against #4 Team Knox followed by a difficult match-up with #3 BDarcy. These are two important games for Team Kaplan and they will hope to come out of Week 6 with at least a split.

6. Team Bollier – 2-3

Team Bollier had an off-week on Tuesday Night and fell three spots in the Week 5 Power Rankings as a result. They came out on the losing end of an absolute shootout with Team Knox, falling 112-94. These two teams combined to score 206 total points! These guys will be sure to bounce back as they are super talented. Their issues were more on the defensive end of the court as they couldn’t hold Team Knox below 100 points. Hard to win games when you give up a hundo burger. The league’s second leading scorer, Nikko Robertson who averages 28 PPG, dropped 25 in this one. Nikko should continue to put up solid numbers the rest of the way now that the team has found some rhythm in their offense. However, the team will need to get back to the drawing board to shore up a few things on the defensive side of the ball if they plan on getting a few more wins before closing out the regular season. They will be staring down a couple losses in a row if they can’t find a way to make stops on defense. They have a big date with #7 Team Shlofrock in Week 6 as the winner of this match-up moves back to .500 while the loser will drop two games below the .500 mark. Very important game for both crews.

7. Team Shlofrock – 2-3

Team Shlofrock dropped their Week 5 game against #3 BDarcy by a final score of 83-74. Team Shlofrock entered this game knowing that they had enough talent and size to compete with BDarcy, however they just didn’t play their best in this one. The loss also drops them one spot to #7 in the Week 5 Power Rankings. The team’s leading scorer, Jake Lerman, posted his fifth consecutive double digit scoring effort, dropping 24 in this one. Captain Jake Shlofrock also posted his fifth consecutive double digit scoring performance on the season by adding 11. These guys were coming off a big win in Week 4 and shouldn’t let this Week 5 loss shake their confidence. In Week 6, they are going to go toe to toe with #6 Team Bollier in an important match-up that will have major implications down the road in terms of Playoff Seedings.

Rest of the Pack (Alphabetical Order)

Team Bernstein – 0-5

Team Bernstein is not used to seeing this type of record. By a final score of 93-72, Team Bernstein has now dropped their fifth consecutive game to remain winless on the season, losing to Team Tucci. The good news for them is that they are capable of much more and every team is going to make the Playoffs. On another bright note, Team Bernstein had four different players put up double digit points in this one, led by Michael Ungar and Samuel Evens who both had 17. They must now forget the first five games and try to finish the regular season strong. They take on #1 Team Lenny and the Jets in Week 6. A win here can completely turn their fortunates around and give them the momentum they need heading into the postseason.

Team Luger – 2-3

Dropping out of the Week 5 Power Rankings this week is Team Luger. They unfortunately had to take their second forfeit loss in a row in Week 5 against Team Kaplan as they did not have any players to field a legal team. They’ll have another opportunity to bounce back in Week 6 against #2 Team Tucci who’ll be looking to extend their winning streak to 5 games.

We had some great games in Week 5! Week 6 should bring us even more excitement!
