Updated: November 8, 2018

The Playoffs kicked-off last Saturday afternoon and our Final4 for Championship Saturday is now set! We had a strong suspicion that #1 Team Scornavacco would advance through to the Final4 with a match-up against #8 Team Segal, but we needed to determine who would grab those last 3 spots in the Semis! We’ll break down all the action from the first weekend of the Playoffs below. First, we just want to send a huge THANK YOU to all the Teams who wrapped-up their Seasons on Saturday! It was a pleasure having all of you guys in the League!

Playoffs Week 1 Review:

Elite8: #1 Team Scornavacco vs. #8 Team Segal

The Winner of this match-up knew they were to move on and play the winner of the #4/#5 game in the Final4. #1 Team Scornavacco came into this game fresh off a BYE week in Week 6 and continued right where they left off in Week 5. The weather was chilly but that did not stop #1 Team Scornavacco from cruising past a much younger and undersized #8 Team Segal crew by a final score of 62-0. Lucas Platt led the way in this game for #1 Team Scornavacco, tossing 4 TD passes, 3 of which went to the leagues leading receiver, Gio Diaz. That would be more than enough Offense as their Defense was all over the field and recorded 3 Defensive TDs. #1 Team Scornavacco would advance to the Final4 coming up on Saturday afternoon!

For Team Segal – All the credit in the world goes to this squad. They were by far the youngest Team in the field this season and they have a lot of Games left to play in future seasons. They did not win a Game this year but at no point did they ever quit. They battled week in and week out and even had their chances in picking up some victories along the way. Their inexperience showed against a very talented and older #1 Team Scornavacco in the Elite8 round but they’ll come back stronger next Fall and be one of the favorites for the Crown. Thank you for playing!

Elite8: #2 Team Kirsch vs. #7 Team Goldman

#2 Team Kirsch caught a break with #7 Team Goldman needing to bow out of the Playoffs. #2 Team Kirsch now moves on to the Final4 and match-up with #3 Team Dincin for the first time this season. They’ll try and take out both #3 and #1 on Championship Saturday en route to the Crown!

For #7 Team Goldman – their Playoff journey ends sooner than they hoped but they really did have another nice season. They did struggle finding enough available bodies on a few occasions this year (including the first week of the Playoffs this past Saturday) but nevertheless had a very solid campaign. They improved as the Season went on and they have a bright future ahead of them. Thanks for playing and hope to see you all in one of our future leagues!

Elite8: #3 Team Dincin vs. #6 Team Baum

Fresh off their Week 6 regular season W over #6 Team Baum, #3 Team Dincin was feeling pretty good about themselves. #3 Team Dincin, one of the favorites for the Crown, knew that they needed to carry that momentum into their Elite8 round match-up against this same Team Baum crew and take care of business…and that is exactly what they did! By the very slim margin of 7-6, #3 Team Dincin squeezed by a determined Team Baum squad and move on to the Final4 round! Dylan Weiskirch tossed a very nice TD pass to Sammy Fourlas for their only score of the game, but their Defense stepped up big time and held #6 Team Baum to just 6 points. They get to take on #2 Team Kirsch in the Final4 on Saturday afternoon with a trip on the line to the Championship Game!

For Team Baum – their Playoff journey also ends sooner than they hoped but they really did have a great 2018 season. They certainly had their struggles on Offense this year as they were the lowest scoring team in the League, but they competed week in and week out and were fun to have in the League. Thanks again for playing and we hope to see you guys out at the fields again sometime soon!

Elite8: #4 Team Marmitt vs. #5 Team Lowenthal

#4 Team Marmitt and #5 Team Lowenthal were meeting here in the 4/5 Game with the goal of moving on and trying to knock off #1 Team Scornavacco in the Final4. Team Lowenthal played what might have been their most complete Game of the Year and it came at the perfect time. They would win this one by a final score of 19-6. Jonathon Weiserman connected with Tanner for all of their scores in this contest to put this game in the bag. Jason Bold had a very nice TD pass to Jeremiah Richards for Team Marmitt, but it just wasn’t enough against the clicking Team Lowenthal Offense. Captain Lowenthal and co. will move on to the Final4 on Saturday afternoon and take on #1 Team Scornavacco with a trip to the Finals on the line!

For Team Marmitt – these guys were a true class act all season long. They were a fun, competitive, spirited group that really did have a nice season. They earned a Top-5 seed which is something they should really be proud of. We certainly hope to see them out at the fields in one of our future leagues. Thank you all for playing!

That’s it for the first Week of the Playoffs. Good Luck to the Final4 and thanks for playing!
