Updated: October 25, 2018

We’re heading into the final week of the 2018 HP Prep Flag Football League season. While the playoff picture isn’t anywhere near 100 percent set, we do know one thing for sure…Team Scornavacco will enter the 2018 postseason as the overall #1 Seed. Team Scornavacco are the favorites to win the title after completing a perfect 6-0 Regular Season! Anyone who believes otherwise is kidding themselves. Does this mean they’ll win the title? Of course not, but to say they aren’t the favorites is crazy. While the top overall spot of the playoff picture is settled, the race for #2-#8 is still going strong. After one more week of regular-season action coming up in Week 6, we’ll start seeing how all of this plays out. From what we’ve seen so far through the first 5 weeks, the postseason is going to have a very intriguing dynamic. Power Rankings

1. Team Scornavacco – 6-0

Team Scornavacco completed a perfect 6-0 Regular Season in Week 5 with a solid 34-6 victory over #4 Team Marmitt and will enter the 2018 post-season as the Overall #1 Seed!
The Leagues leader in Passing TDs, Rushing TDs (current 3-way tie) and Overall TDs, Noah Prebish, added 4 passing and 1 rushing score on Saturday afternoon to lead his squad to their 6th overall victory. Gio Diaz also added 3 more Receiving TDs to his league leading total and finishes the Regular Season with a league high of 10. These guys have a high-powered Offense to go along with a very good and stingy Defense and will be extremely tough to beat in the Playoffs. As we mentioned above, Team Scornavacco are the favorites to win the title after completing a perfect 6-0 Regular Season! Anyone who believes otherwise is kidding themselves. Does this mean they’ll win the title? Of course not, but to say they aren’t the favorites is crazy. They get Week 6 OFF and will be well rested to take on the overall #8 seed (whoever that ends up being) when we kick off the Playoffs on Saturday, November 3rd.

2. Team Kirsch – 3-2

Team Kirsch had an opportunity to all but secure the Overall #2 Seed in Week 5 but could not get anything going offensively as they were blanked by Team Goldman by the final score of 18-0. Team Kirsch came into their week 5 match-up with a 3-game winning streak but ended up getting shutout for the first time this season. With this Week 5 loss, Team Kirsch sees their record sit at 3-2 and currently tied with #3 Team Dincin for the Overall #2 Seed. A win for Team Kirsch coming up on Saturday afternoon over Team Segal (0-4) combined with a Team Dincin loss will guarantee Team Kirsch the #2 Seed. If both squads win in Week 6, they guarantee themselves no worse than the Overall #3 Seed. If both teams lose on Saturday, they can be seeded as low as the #5 seed. HUGE game coming up and major Playoff implications on the line coming up on Saturday afternoon.

3. Team Dincin – 3-2

Coming off a Week 4 forfeit victory, Team Dincin had lots of confidence rolling into their Week 5 match-up with Team Lowenthal. Unfortunately for Team Dincin, Week 5 did not pan out as they had hoped, losing a heartbreaker to Team Lowenthal by the final score of 13-12. With #2 Team Kirsch also losing their Week 5 match-up, Team Dincin had a big opportunity to all but secure the Overall #2 Seed. Team Dincin now sits at 3-2 and currently tied with #2 Team Kirsch for the Overall #2 Seed. A win for Team Dincin coming up on Saturday afternoon over Team Baum (2-3), combined with a Team Kirsch loss, will guarantee Team Dincin the #2 Seed. If both squads win in Week 6, they guarantee themselves no worse than the Overall #3 Seed. If both teams lose on Saturday, they can be seeded as low as the #5 seed. HUGE game coming up and major Playoff implications on the line coming up on Saturday afternoon.

4. Team Marmitt – 2-3

If the Playoffs started today, Team Marmitt would be the #4 Overall Seed. Even after dropping their Week 5 match-up against #1 Team Scornavacco 34-6, Team Marmitt sees their overall record now sit at 2-3 and tied with 3 other clubs for the #4 spot. They currently hold the tiebreaker against the other three teams tied at 2-3 as they have the best overall record against all teams tied at 2-3 (2-0). They have beaten both Team Lowenthal and Team Baum (have not played Team Goldman). Team Marmitt had a huge opportunity to give themselves a shot at the #2 or #3 seed with a Week 5 victory, but now with this loss, they can finish no better than the #4 (lost to both Team Dincin and Team Kirsch). Team Marmitt has a very crucial game coming up on Saturday afternoon to conclude their regular season as they will take the field against Team Segal. A win and they secure the Overall #4 seed while a loss can see them potentially fall all the way down to #8! HUGE game coming up and major Playoff implications on the line coming up on Saturday afternoon.

5. Team Baum – 2-3

By the final score of 20-19, #5 Team Baum recorded an extremely important and exciting Week 5 victory over Team Segal to bring their record up to 2-3. Ryan Lederer tossed two nice TD scores to Zach to record this huge Week 5 Win. If the Playoffs started today, Team Baum would be the #5 Overall Seed as they currently are losing the tiebreaker to #4 Team Marmitt (lost to them in Week 3) but hold the tiebreaker against the other two teams tied at 2-3 as they have the better overall record against those other teams tied at 2-3 (1-1). They have beaten Team Goldman and have not played Team Lowenthal. Team Baum has a very crucial game coming up on Saturday afternoon to conclude their regular season as they will take the field against #3 Team Dincin. A win and they can potentially finish as high as the #3 seed while a loss can see them potentially fall all the way down to #7! HUGE game coming up and major Playoff implications on the line coming up on Saturday afternoon.

Rest of the Pack (Alphabetical Order)

Team Goldman – 2-3

After two consecutive defeats to see their record drop to 1-3, Team Goldman came out in Week 5 extremely focused and determined as they picked up a huge 18-0 victory over #3 Team Dincin. The win sees their record move up to 2-3 and gives them a great opportunity to finish the regular season on a positive note. If the Playoffs started today, Team Goldman would be the #6 Overall Seed as they currently are losing the tiebreaker to #5 Team Baum (lost to them in Week 1). They have not played Team Lowenthal yet or Team Marmitt. Team Goldman has another crucial game coming up on Saturday afternoon to conclude their regular season as they will take the field against the team they are currently tied for #6 with, Team Lowenthal. A win and they can potentially finish as high as the #3 seed while a loss can see them potentially fall all the way down to #7! HUGE game coming up and major Playoff implications on the line coming up on Saturday afternoon.

Team Lowenthal – 2-3

In what ended up being the upset of Week 5, Team Lowenthal took down #3 Team Dincin by the final score of 13-12 to see their record rise to 2-3. Jonathon Weiserman connected with Josh Mack and Tanner on two beautiful scoring drives to secure this HUGE Week 5 victory. If the Playoffs started today, Team Lowenthal would be the #7 Overall Seed as they currently are losing the tiebreaker to #4 Team Marmitt (lost to them in Week 2). They have not played Team Goldman yet or Team Baum. Team Lowenthal has another crucial game coming up on Saturday afternoon to conclude their regular season as they will take the field against the team they are currently tied with, Team Goldman. A win and they can potentially finish as high as the #4 seed while a loss can see them potentially fall all the way down to #7! HUGE game coming up and major Playoff implications on the line coming up on Saturday afternoon.

Team Segal – 0-4

1 point. That is how much Team Segal lost by in their Week 5 match-up with #5 Team Baum. By the final score of 20-19, Team Segal dropped a heartbreaker and their fourth consecutive defeat to see their record sit at 0-4. It does not get much closer than that ladies and gentlemen. Captain Rocky ran the ball in 3 times on Saturday afternoon to give Team Segal a fighting shot, but it just wasn’t enough to overtake a tough Team Baum squad. Captain Rocky now is tied for the lead for most Rushing TDs in the league and will have an opportunity in Week 6 to finish with the most. 4 Weeks ago, we mentioned that the only thing we wanted to see from Team Segal was progression as the season moved along. The last 2 weeks Team Segal has lost by a combined 5 total points. If that is not progression from their first two games of the season, then I don’t know what progression is. They currently sit in the #8 spot but have a HUGE double header on the slate coming up in Week 6. If Team Segal wins both of their games on Saturday afternoon against #2 Team Kirsch and #4 Team Marmitt, they can finish as high as the #4 Overall seed! If they lose just one of their games coming up in Week 6, they will finish with the #8 Overall Seed and will see them take on #1 Team Scornavacco in the first round of Playoffs coming up on November 3rd. HUGE games coming up on Saturday!

That’s it for Week 5! Good luck to all in your Regular Season finales!
