Power Rankings

1. Team Kappa Sig SR (Adam Goldberg) – 1-0

Coming it at #1 to start the 2018 Season is last year’s Champions and led by new team captain Adam Goldberg – Team KSig SR! These guys started right where they left off last year with a big 88-64 win over Team Aepi SR by a final score of 88-64. Peter Poggioli dominated in this performance, dropping 28 huge points to help lift his crew to a very comfortable victory. Former captain Luke Libert also stepped up big in this one dropping 20 points of his own. These guys were among the best Teams a year ago, as evidenced by their run title run last year (and performance on opening night), and now they are back with even more experience for their third go-around in All Sports Series. They are clear on odds favorites to take down back-to-back chips this year. You can expect them to stay at or near the top of the Rankings throughout the Season. They get Team Sammy SO (0-1) coming up on Thursday night.

2. Team Theta Chi SR (Noah Stern) – 1-0

Starting in the #2 hole in the Week 2 Power Rankings is Team Theta Chi, back for a second consecutive season in the Madison Hoops league. Their house has played in many of our other Leagues around the country, but this was the Franchise’s first appearance in Madison last year. They return in 2018 to make a stamp of their name into this league. Lance Dismukes scored 15 to help lead them to a dominating Week 1 Win over Team Sammy SO by a score of 69-37. Impressive start to the season. Captain Noah and company built a big lead in the first half and never relinquished that lead. Team Theta Chi SR will have tough test in Week 2 as Team Aepi SR (1-1) are next up on the schedule when we return to action coming up on Thursday night.

3. Team Delta Upsilon SR (Clayton Reible) – 1-0

Team DU is back in 2018 and this year Clayton Reible has assumed the Captain roll. He was also their leading scorer with 10 points in Week 1. They squeezed by team Fiji by a final score of 46-40 to pick up their first W on the 2018 campaign. It’s only the first week and one game, but Team DU looked like a team that is going to be on a mission this season. They didn’t put up huge numbers in Week 1, but their defense was great, and teams will be hard pressed to put up big numbers on them. They get Team Sammy SR coming up on Thursday night where they’ll look to claim their second W of the Season and maintain an undefeated record.

4. Team Aepi SR (Ben Kohl) – 1-1

Team AEPi is back once again this Fall and led by new team captain, Ben Kohl. They lost their leading scorer from a year ago in Max Goshen but they didn’t lose a beat picking up a nice Week 1 victory on Tuesday night. This squad also took the court on opening night against the defending Champs and took a tough loss by the final score of 88-64. Charley Wadler lead the way on opening night, dropping 25 huge points to help keep his squad in that game. Unfortunately, they just did not have enough left in the tank to make a comeback in the second half and shock the defending Champions. Tuesday not on the other hand was a completely different story. By a final score of 88-60, Team AEPi flipped the script and took home their first Win on the campaign. 4 different players scored in double digits in this one, led by Trevor Bergher and his 22-point performance. These guys look to get back over .500 in Week 2 against Team Sammy SR.

5. Team Sammy SO (Brian Unger) – 0-1

Rounding out the Top-5 this week is Team Sammy SO who were making their second consecutive appearance in All Sports Series. This year they are led by Captain Brian Unger who’ll be looking to take this team to uncharted territories. Unfortunately for Brian and Co. they ran into a buzz saw on Tuesday night in Team Theta Chi SR. Going down by a final score of 67-39, Team Sammy SO must not have envisioned their season starting off in this fashion. Ross Herman led this group in scoring on Tuesday night, dropping 13 of the teams 39 total points. These guys have a lot to live up to as the current group of SRs from Sammy’s have had quite the run in All Sports Series over the years. Those guys are routinely at the top (despite this week’s Ranking) and it’ll be interesting to see if both crews can make it all the way to the Chip. They’ll have an extremely tough task coming up on Thursday night as they must tip off against the defending Champs and undefeated Team KSig (1-0).

Rest of the Pack (Alphabetical Order)

Team Fiji SR (Grant Bailey) – 0-2

Captain Grant Bailey is at the helm for a second consecutive season and will try to get his guys back to the good ol’ days of 2016. This house hoisted the trophy just 2 years ago but unfortunately start off the 2018 Rankings, unranked. They were tasked with a daunting opening night double dip and came out on the wrong end in both games. By a final score of 88-60, Team Fiji lost a tough one to team AEPi SR. Herald Park and Jack Tillotson paced them in this game, dropping 22 and 21 respectively. They had to put this loss behind them quickly as they immediately had to get back onto the court and tip off against Team DU JR. By a final score of 46-40, Team Fiji lost their second consecutive game of the night Their shots were just not falling in game 2 of their DH. Jonah Halterman led the way in this one, dropping 13. These guys are going to be just fine however and will find themselves in the Top-5 of the Power Rankings even if they are currently trailing by a Game and a Half in the Standings. They look to pull one back coming up on Thursday night when they play #2 Theta Chi (1-0).

Team Sammy SR (Jared Nossen) – 0-0

That’s it for Week 1. We’ll see everyone back on the court on Thursday night!
