Power Rankings

1. Team Kappa Sig SR (Adam Goldberg) – 4-1

Staying in the #1 spot following their third straight victory on Tuesday night, is Team Kappa Sig SR, who now are sitting at 4-1. They defeated Team Fiji SR (Grant Bailey) last week 57-41 and in doing so kept Team Fiji SR winless on the year. Peter Poggioli and Captain Luke each had 16 points on the night. This Win is huge in their bid to get the #1 seed. They now control their own destiny. So, if they can win both of their Games on Tuesday Night they will guarantee themselves the #1 seed based on overall winning percentage. They play #4 Team Aepi SR (Ben Kohl) and #2 Team Delta Upsilon SR (Clayton Reible) to close out the Regular Season. If they drop one or both, they could fall all the way down to the 4/5 seed depending on what else happens. Not very likely as they are the favorites to win back-to-back titles. Anyone who believes otherwise is kidding themselves. Does this mean they’ll win the title? Of course not, but to say they aren’t the favorites is crazy.

2. Team Delta Upsilon SR (Clayton Reible) – 4-1

Team Delta Upsilon SR came into Tuesday night with a double dip on their slate and they walked away with a very solid split. They won their first game of the night by a final score of 73-70 over Team Theta Chi SR (Noah Stern) in what ended up being a fantastic game. Everett led the way for DU in this contest, dropping 17 solid points. Tim Schwieters also had a nice night, posting 16 solid points of his own. Following this very big win, Team DU had to turn right back around and take the court against Team Aepi SR (Ben Kohl). They unfortunately ran out of steam down the stretch in this contest and dropped their first game on the year, losing by a final score of 77-64. Harry Porter had 14 while Turner Longyear and Everett pitched in with 13 apiece. They are a good Team and good Teams bounce back quickly from Losses. So, they will not stay down for long. They have a HUGE game to close out the regular season on Tuesday as they take on #1 Team Kappa Sig SR (Adam Goldberg) for the right for the overall #1 Playoff Seed. If they win this game, they guarantee themselves the overall #1. If they lose however, they can drop down all the way to the #3 seed. Huge game coming on Tuesday night.

3. Team Theta Chi SR (Noah Stern) – 3-2

Coming in at #3 this week is Team Theta Chi SR. Just a couple weeks ago they were 3-0 and looking dominant. They’ve had a few bumps in the road since then and now are on a little two game losing skid. By the final score of 73-70, they lost a heart-breaker to #2 Team DU SR. Their last two loses have come to the hands of the #1 and #2 ranked teams…by a combined 7 points. They had opportunities to win those games but missed their chances. They are set to take on Team Sammy SR (Jared Nossen) to finish out the Season on Tuesday Night. A win for them gets them to 4-2 and they could finish no better than the #3 seed to start the Playoffs as they have suffered head-to-head losses to both the #1 and #2 Ranked teams. If they were to drop their game on Tuesday Night and a few teams below them win, they could potentially drop all the way down to the #6 seed. Important game coming on Tuesday!

4. Team Aepi SR (Ben Kohl) – 3-3

Team Aepi SR is another squad that had two scheduled games on their calendar on Tuesday Night and they also walked out of Abundant Life with a solid 1-1 split. They picked up a Win on Tuesday Night against Team Delta Upsilon JR (Clayton Reible) by a final score of 77-64. This was a very nice all-around Team performance for these guys as five different players ended up being in double digits. Captain Ben had 14 in that one. Ben Miller, Charley Wadler, Cory Zimmerman and Drew Gorski all hit double digits in this one. They then played against Team Sammy SO (Brian Unger) and dropped that one in a thriller by a final score of 74-72. The win and loss have brought their record to 3-3 on the year and they will close out their regular season campaign against #1 Team Kappa Sig SR (Adam Goldberg) in what will be a rematch from Week 1. It will be a tough one. If they win, they are assured at least a Top-4 seed. If they Lose, they could fall all the way down to #6 based on overall win percentage. Important Tuesday Night battle upcoming.

5. Team Sammy SR (Jared Nossen) – 2-3

The Seniors of Sammy played just once last week and won in exciting fashion over their younger SO counterparts by a final score of 49-46. Captain Jared Nossen was their leading scorer on the night with 19 huge points and Reed Wallach pitched in with 11 very important points of his own. They buckled down on the defensive end of the court and held the Sophomores to their second lowest scoring total on the season. They have a very important match-up coming up on Tuesday night against #3 Team Theta Chi SR (Noah Stern). A win could potentially catapult them up all the way into the #3 seed while a loss could see them start the 2018 postseason as the overall #6 seed. It will be a challenging night, but they are more than capable of getting a Win a shooting up the Rankings/Standings!

Rest of the Pack (Alphabetical Order)

Team Fiji SR (Grant Bailey) – 0-5

Team Fiji SR and Captain Grant Bailey dropped their fifth consecutive game on Tuesday night, losing to #1 Team Kappa Sig SR by a final score of 57-41. Andrew Fix and Andrew Schwartz both scored 7 points apiece for Team Fiji, but they struggled getting anyone else going on the offensive end of the court against a very tough Team Kappa Sig SR squad. With this loss, Team Fiji SR will start the 2018 postseason as the overall #7 seed regardless of what happens on Tuesday night. These guys have one Game left to just get some momentum. They are going to be a very dangerous Cinderella candidate – higher seeds are not going to want to see them early. They take on Team Sammy SO (Brian Unger) and if they can just get something going against them – that may change their whole outlook for the Playoffs!

Team Sammy SO (Brian Unger) – 2-3

Team Sammy SO and Captain Brian Unger may have been awoken in Week 4! They may have only taken a split on Tuesday night in their scheduled double header, but they played fantastically in both games and seem to be heating up at the perfect time of the Season. They did take a tough luck loss in their first scheduled game of the night by a final score of 49-46 to their Senior brothers, but they regrouped very nicely in Game 2 and recorded their 2nd W of the year against Team Aepi SR (Ben Kohl) 74-72. Captain Brian led the charge with 30 points while Ross Herman scored 14. Jacob Neiderman was also in double figures too with 13. They have a huge game coming up on Tuesday night to finish their 2018 regular season campaign against Team Fiji SR. A win could potentially see them rise all the way up to the #3 spot while a loss could see them stay at #6. They seem to be playing their best right now and if they can get the W it should do a ton for their confidence, knowing they can compete with anyone as the Playoffs roll in!

That’s it for this week. Good Luck to everyone in the Regular Season finale on Tuesday!
