Updated: January 27, 2019

We got back to action on Tuesday evening for Week 2 of the Winter TUESDAY Hoops League! When the dust settled, we had two teams that were left undefeated, two teams at 1-1 and two teams that are still winless on the 2019 Winter TUESDAY campaign.

INDY Team #5 and The Average Wolves of Pen Island have lost their first two games and will have a big hole to climb out of, however they still have five regular season games remaining to make some noise prior to the Playoffs beginning.

Former All Sports Series Hoops Champions Team Knox meanwhile, have won two very solid games to start their season and stay in the #1 spot in the Week 2 Power Rankings. It has certainly been an interesting start to the season.

In the grand scheme of things, odds are none of that matters though. Teams rarely look the same in January as they do in March. But as far as early-season Power Rankings are concerned, it matters a great deal. On to our Week 2 Power Rankings…

Power Rankings

1. Team Knox – 2-0

A week after picking up a very solid victory on opening night against INDY Team #5, Team Knox picked up their second win in a row on the young season and stay in the #1 spot in the Week 2 Power Rankings. Team Knox had to work extremely hard for this victory on Tuesday night as they just squeezed by Wet Dream Team by a final score of 81-73 and remain unbeaten on the young season. This was an all-around team effort for Team Knox as four different players recorded double digit points and not a single player scored less than 5. Captain Andre had another quality showing to lead the club’s Offense with 20 points, while Chris Elder and Chris White pitched in with 19 apiece to help seal the deal in this one. Team Knox is looking like a team on a mission through the first two weeks of games. Next up for Team Knox is a showdown against #2 Team LifeTime Blur (2-0), in what will be our Week 3 Game of the Week!

2. LifeTime Blur – 2-0

Staying put in the #2 hole in the Week 2 Power Rankings is Team LifeTime Blur. Led by Captain Anfernee Tevin James 22-point performance on Tuesday night, Team LifeTime Blur picked up their second consecutive victory by blowing past INDY Team #5 by a final score of 94-42 to remain unbeaten. Through the first two games of the season, Team LifeTime Blur has the second highest scoring Offense averaging of 85 PPG, only trailing #1 Team Knox in that category. These guys can put up big numbers on any given evening and teams will need to come up with great game plans if they have any expectations on slowing these guys down. Jeremiah Bankole also had another big night on Tuesday evening for Team LifeTime Blur by posting 20 big points. Jeremiah has been magnificent thus far this season and helped his squad secure their second straight W on Tuesday night. The win takes Team LifeTime Blur’s record to 2-0 and sets up a trilling matchup in Week 3 against #1 and undefeated Team Knox (2-0). This will be our Week 3 Game of the Week!

3. Team Anderson – 1-1

Team Anderson got a big W on Tuesday night, their first of the season. The win moves Team Anderson from the #4 hole and into the #3 spot in the Week 2 Power Rankings. They were paired up in Week 2 with a very strong The Average Wolves on Pen Island squad, who were also coming off a disappointing Week 1 loss but were able to leave WCFH on Tuesday night with a convincing 55-44 victory. Donny Nordmann for Team Anderson had a big game to lead the club’s Offense with 18 points on Tuesday night. The 18 points led all scorers in this contest. It wasn’t all about Mr. Nordmann for Team Anderson however as Connor Shields turned in a very good performance as well by chipping in with 14 points to seal his squads first victory this season. #4 Wet Dream Team (1-1) are next on the schedule for Team Anderson who will also be looking to snatch their second victory on the season and attempt to move even higher in the Week 3 Power Rankings. Big game coming up for both squads.

4. Wet Dream Team – 1-1

After a very nice performance in Week 1, Wet Dream Team came back down to earth in Week 2 as they struggled to keep up with #1 Team Knox. By a final score of 81-73, Wet Dream Team took their first loss on the season as they could not slow down the highest scoring Team in the League. Even in a losing effort, Adam Hufford had a nice game to lead the group’s Offense with 21 points, while Kyle Terpstra and Andrew Lively combined to score 31 points of their own. As a result of this loss, Wet Dream Team moves down to the #4 spot in our Week 2 Power Rankings. Wet Dream Team will need to find more Offense and clean up a few things on the Defensive end of the court if they plan on staying in the Top-5 in the Week 3 Power Rankings as they have a very important match-up coming up on Tuesday night. For Wet Dream Team, they will have a critical battle with #3 Team Anderson (1-1) in Week 3 as they try to rebound from this tough loss.

5. The Average Wolves of Pen Island – 0-2

The Average Wolves of Pen Island and Captain John Emanuel were unable to get much going on Offense at WCFH on Tuesday night, as they lost a tough game to #3 Team Anderson, 55-44. This loss see’s The Average Wolves of Pen Island stay in the #5 spot in the Week 2 Power Rankings. Even in a losing effort, Joe Weber scored 16 points, Will Reedy had 13 points and Base Byers chipped in with 6. The Average Wolves of Pen Island battled with a veteran All Sports Series Team Anderson squad on Tuesday night but came up a bit short in what was a very close game through the first 35 minutes of this contest. While they dropped their record to 0-2 on this young season, they have played very good basketball and will be contenders all season long. Coming up on Tuesday night, they are going to have another tough test (as the All Sports Leagues are very deep) with a INDY Team #5 squad (0-2) who will also be looking to secure their first victory on this young season.

6. INDY Team #5 – 0-2

Back to back losses have now dropped INDY Team #5’s record to 0-2 on the season. Losing 95-42 to #2 Team LifeTime Blur may look bad on paper from the outside, but it is certainly not something this squad should be ashamed about, however. For the second week in a row, INDY Team #5 were matched up against a Top-3 team. Unfortunately for INDY Team #5, neither performance in Week 1 or Week 2 were enough to snag a victory. In this loss, Vasilije Cupara, the squads leading scorer through the first two games, had another strong effort on Tuesday night to lead the squads Offense with 14 points. Meanwhile, Reed Hogan did his part once again and scored 13 points to keep his guys in the game through the first half. These guys are still learning how to play with one another and will continue to get better over time. Next up for INDY Team #5 is a match-up against #5 The Average Wolves of Pen Island (0-2) who will also be looking to snag their first victory on this young season. A win in Week 3 for INDY Team #5 can get them right back into the thick of things.

Week 2 is in the books! Big games coming up on Tuesday night!
