Team Lowenthal, taking the top spot last week to start off our 2019 Power Rankings, beat Team Burstyn 38-23. Power Rankings

1. Team Lowenthal – 2-0

Team Lowenthal is one of only two teams left undefeated and rightfully so stays in our #1 spot in the Week 2 Power Rankings. These guys are for real (as proven in 2018) and have certainly put the entire 2019 League on notice. Their latest victim was Team Burstyn in Week 2. In a game where the final score line was much closer than the actual result, QB Jonah Long put his squad on his shoulders and carried his crew to their 2nd consecutive victory. Long accounted for all 5 of his teams’ TD’s, throwing for 5 to four different receivers! Josh Mack hauled in two of the throws while Captain Nate, Nick Shapiro and Josh Rohn were all able to get on the board with nice catches. Long’s 5 TD passes on the day overshadowed his teammates Jonathan Wasserman’s 4 Passing TD’s in Week 1. They’ll look to stay undefeated and bring their winning streak up to 3 games when they take the field against #2 Team Gallender (2-0) in our Week 3 Game of the Week!

2. Team Gallender – 2-0

Rising into our #2 hole in our Week 2 Power Rankings is Team Gallender after their dominating 57-6 victory over #5 Team Segal in our Week 2 Game of the Week. Captain and QB Josh Gallender was absolutely dominate in this start, throwing for 6 TDs. Josh was able to spread the ball around as four of his TD passes went to different receives. Zach Pomerantz came down with 3 TD catches on Saturday afternoon, while Jake Haley, Eli Plofsky and Isaac Kliska all were able to get on the receiving end of Josh’s throws. Team Gallender’s Offense was clicking all game long but let’s not overlook that Defense. They almost put up their first shutout of the season and if not for a long TD run in the second half for Team Segal, would have. These guys have the talent on both ends of the ball to make a legitimate run at the league crown. They’ll look to continue to build on this win in Week 3 when they face off against #1 and undefeated Team Lowenthal (2-0) in our Week 3 Game of the Week!

3. Team Goldman – 1-1

Our biggest movers in the Week 2 Power Rankings is none other than Team Goldman. This squad entered Week 2 as our lowest ranked team in the League and proved on Saturday afternoon that they don’t belong anywhere near the bottom of the rankings. By the final score of 18-0, Team Goldman decided to make a statement on Saturday afternoon and brings their record up to 1-1. They did not have their best Offensive showing in this game, but their Defense was all over the place against Team Fleisher – pitching the first shutout on this young season! Adam Glickman tossed his first 3 TDs on the year, one to Captain Jackson Goldman, one to Luke Zucker and the other to Sam Shachtman in the second half for a HUGE W! This win should give Team Goldman a lot more confidence heading into Week 3 and will look to get their record over the .500 mark when they take on #4 Team Segal (1-1).

4. Team Segal – 1-1

Falling two spots in the Week 2 Power Rankings after taking a very disappointing loss to #2 Team Gallender is Team Segal. By the final score of 57-6, Team Segal suffered a crushing defeat that they now must put behind them very quickly. To their defense, they were without their leader and Captain Rocky Segal. Their Offense struggled early and often in this contest without Rocky calling the shots, falling behind 33-0 at halftime. Team Segal did see a moment of sunshine in the second half when Max Lens ran in a nice TD, but it was a little too late at that point in the game. Team Segal needs to just put this past weekend out of their minds and get ready to take down #5 Team Fleisher (0-2). They’ll hope to have their leader calling the shots again in Week 3 and get back on track. A slip up however coming up on Saturday afternoon could cost this squad dearly. A victory on the other hand could see them rise back up to the top of our Week 3 Power Rankings.

5. Team Fleisher – 0-2

Team Fleisher exited Week 2 still searching for their first win on the 2019 season. By the final score of 18-0, Team Fleisher dropped their second consecutive game. Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers. That was the name of this game for Team Fleisher. They turned the ball over a total of SIX times in this contest which ultimately cost them this game. Their Defense came out play as they held Team Goldman scoreless throughout the first half of this contest. Team Fleisher still has a bunch of talent and will have the opportunity to finish the season with an above .500 record – which in a league with many competitive teams – is a very strong showing. They will take on #6 Team Burstyn (0-2) Saturday afternoon in a battle of the final two winless teams. If they can pull out the victory, it will certainly shake up our Week 3 Power Rankings. A loss on the other hand could see them drop to the bottom of the pack. Big game coming up!

6. Team Burstyn – 0-2

Dropping from the #5 to the #6 spot in the Week 2 Power Rankings is Team Burstyn. By the final score of 38-23, Team Burstyn suffered a tough Week 2 loss to #1 Team Lowenthal. Team Burstyn came into the 2019 season as one the youngest assembled squads in the league and their inexperience showed on Saturday afternoon. These guys have the talent to keep up with any of the teams in the league, they just need more time playing together as a squad. Captain Jesse had a nice day behind center, tossing two solid TD strikes to receivers Charlie Goldman and Parker Bondy. They hung around this contest after converting a 3-point conversation following a nice TD, but #1 Team Lowenthal’s Offense and experience eventually prevailed. If Team Burstyn keeps developing their chemistry and figures out a consistent lineup, they will shock some teams in this league. They’ll have an opportunity to rebound coming up on Saturday afternoon when they take on #5 Team Fleisher (0-2).

That’s it for the Week 2 Rankings. I’ll see everyone back on the field on Saturday afternoon!
