Hello again All Sporters (lets try that on and see how it fits..). Last night was a big night in the Regular Season. We are down to only one unbeaten, there are only 4 weeks until the playoffs and from here on out every game will impact the playoffs.  Remember 8 teams will make the cut.   The new Standings are Posted on the site; for the 3rd week in a row, Team Glass (@SteveDeli) is on top of the Leaderboard.  They have 50 points and are at least 15 points ahead of everyone.  That’s not to say things cant change, because they will… Anyways on to the Week 3 action..

Lets pick up with Team Glass again as well they have earned the right to be spoken of first.  They put out another fantastic performance against Team Schoder (Whiskey Bar) on Monday Night.  The Glassies put up a whopping 76 points in this one, winning 76-60.  Josh “He has range that lasts to Milwaukee” Lurie had 27 including 7 3balls!  The kid can flat out shoot.  Consider yourself warned.  Jeff “probably tall (most on this team are” Wolfe put in 13 as well.  Captain Robby from Team “Sweet Marquette shorts” Schoder sunk in 19 points in the losing effort.  Not just saying this, but this is a good basketball team even though they are 0-2 in hoops.  Just shows how important the schedule is in All Sports Series.

The other early game matched up Team Radist ( BeSpoke Cuisine) with Team Greenberg (Millennium Real Estate).  Team Radist pulled out the win in one of the closer games of the night 51-48.  They were led by “Honest” Abe Jacobs who put in 16 points and also told the Ref that his team had stepped out of bounds numerous times during the course of the game.  In a losing effort Justin “I dont know your Twitter Handle bc you don’t follow @AllSportsSeries” Morton put in a whopping 27 points.  The Greenberg crew looks to get their first win of the year next Monday night in Flag Football against Team Mason (PopChips).

Changing Gears, I’d like to thank Galaxie Home Remodeling for coming out on Monday Night to support their own Team Bulgatz.  Unfortunately for both, they ran into a buzzsaw, Team Bruck (Teplitz and Bell Attys).  With a sour taste in their mouth from the previous week’s floor hockey game, Team Bruck put up 71, in winning the game 71-37!  The Bruck show was firing on all cylinders Monday Night, and there was just little for Team Bulgatz to do about it. Drew “Don’t you dare call me Maurice” Speights put in 26 points.  Ryan “The Big O” Malley put in 17 as well.  Steven “Do you know Herbie?” Zucker put up 13 points in the loss.  Team Bulgatz will also look to get off the schneid (Sp?) next week in football against Team Watts (Whiskey Bar).

The second 8pm game was significantly closer, with Team Kornblatt (Greater Than) and Team Mason (PopChips).  Team Kornblatt was undefeated coming into Monday night but knew it would be no easy task as they were staring at one of their many rivals across the court.  It was a heated battle that was close throughout and eventually Team Mason was just too much for the Greater Than squad.  The final was 56-45 Mason.  Jeff “Air” Aerni put in 19 during the win and was helped by Danny “Bicep Curls” Mason who had 1 shot attempt on the night.  Team Kornblatt was heavily supported by Daniel “El-G-d” Elrod who had 13 including a deep, deep 3 that sent Coach David “Van Gundy” Goldberg into a tizzy.  In other news Matt “he wore gym shoes!” Emer got a big fat DNP.  Is there a team chemistry issue looming? We will see..

I left Windy City Monday night with one feeling…NORTHBROOK DOMINATION IS BACK! The Defending Champions Team Dorfman (Crystal Lake Jeep) were just fantastic Monday night.  Oh ya they played Team Merar (Dr. Jacob DDS).  In all seriousness, Team Merar has been the victim of an extremely tough schedule through 3 weeks.  Playing what could be the best floor hockey team in Team Schoder and the best basketball team in Team Dorfman in back to back weeks.  Tough pull. The final score was 76-42.  The Dorfmans put up 51 in the first half and that was all she wrote.  Eytan “Aladin” Azaria dropped in a cool 19 while 4 others on the team had at least 8 points including Benji “You continually have funny pictures for me to put into the videos” Patzik. Danny “Thunder” Roseth put in 8 for the Mercars. As the playoffs get closer, its fun to think about if Team Dorfman and Team Glass could somehow fall into that 4-5 matchup in the first round to see whose Hoops team would come out on top..

The final game of the night had the most drama. Team Cohen (Sunset Foods) and Team Watts (Whiskey Bar) both really wanted that win.  Team Cohen led by as much as 11 in the second half, but Team Watts battled back to make it a one possession game with under a minute to play.  Team Watts missed one opportunity to take the lead or tie the game and then fouled sending Team Cohen to the line.  With about 10 seconds left the ball clanked off the rim only for Team Cohen to get the offensive rebound and again find themselves on the line with the chance to seal the deal.  Another miss. This time Captain Jake “he who also led his team in scoring with 13 points” Watts grabbed the rebound and called Timeout for his team. With a little under a second left to play, Team Watts drew up the play and got a decent look at a 3 ball that just wouldnt fall.  Team Cohen escaped with the 47-45 W.  Colin “Dirk” Rice had 16 for Team Cohen and most would agree he was the difference in the game.

Well that’s all for Week 3.  Next week, another first for All Sports Series, as Flag Football is the sport.
