Championship Saturday Review:

Final4: #1 Team Scornavacco vs. #5 Team Lowenthal

Team Scornavacco came into the Playoffs as overwhelming favorites. They destroyed the competition in the Regular Season and finished undefeated. They also rolled through #8 Team Segal in the Elite Round and found themselves easily into the Final4. Unlucky for them, they had several players absent on this final day and it really impacted their level of play. #5 Team Lowenthal did not feel bad for them as they wanted a spot in the Championship Game. They were the aggressors early – got the lead – and never looked back. Johnathon Weiserman played extremely well at QB for them in this one, tossing 2 very nice TD passes to Michelyn Sabath and Tanner. They ended up taking it by a score of 13-12 to shock the League! On to the Championship they would go.

For Team Scornavacco, there is no doubt in anyone’s minds who the best Team in the League was at full strength – but that is why we play the Games. These guys were incredible all season and they are just starting out in what should be very illustrious All Sports Series’ careers. Thanks for playing guys!

Final4: #2 Team Kirsch vs. #3 Team Dincin

News of the upset spread to this field as both Teams knew that #1 Team Scornavacco wasn’t going to make it to the Championship – that put even more pressure upon these groups as suddenly – their odds of winning the whole thing drastically improved. Team Kirsch and Team Dincin both played well in this Game, especially on the Defensive end of the field. Dylan Weiskirch and Sammy Fourlas provided all the Offense in this Game as they connected on a beautiful pass down the right sideline of the field and Mr. Fourlas was able to run it all the way into the endzone for the only score of this game. Team Dincin’s Defense would take over for the rest of the game and would hold Team Kirsch scoreless for only the second time this year! They were off to the Championship Game for the second consecutive year!

For Team Kirsch– they struggled mightily to get anything going on Offense in this contest against a very stingy Team Dincin Defense – it just wasn’t meant to be on this day. They had a fantastic season – finishing in the Final4 of a competitive League is an accomplishment. We hope to see them back with us soon. Thanks for playing!

CHAMPIONSHIP: #3 Team Dincin vs. #5 Team Lowenthal

So, the stage was set for the winner-take-all Championship Game. #3 Team Dincin and #5 Team Lowenthal – who was fresh off de-throning #1 Team Scornavacco. Only one Team could go down as the second ever HP Prep Flag Football Champs. Team Lowenthal would strike first… QB Jonathon Weiserman threw a strike down the middle of the field to Zach Fagenholz who turned on the jets and ran it into the endzone to give Team Lowenthal the early lead. Through half it was mostly Team Lowenthal. Team Dincin would eventually score behind the arm of QB Dylan Weiskirch but they just didn’t have enough time and Team Lowenthal would be victorious by a final score of 25-18! More on the Champs in a bit…

For Team Dincin – they must be proud of what they accomplished for a second consecutive season. While they didn’t win the whole thing, they finished with the overall #3 seed and are the only team in HP Prep Flag Football League history to make it to back-to-back Championship Saturdays. This is a group that can build upon this Playoff run and earn a Crown down the road. No doubt about that. Thanks for playing!

Now to the Champs Team Lowenthal! They had such an impressive run to the Crown! They outscored their Playoff opponents by a combined score of 57-37 and upset 3 very good teams along the way. Their Offense stayed aggressive and it allowed their Defense to play with confidence and the lead. While they may not have ended up playing against the Team people thought would be there in the end (Team Scornavacco) they took care of business with who was put in front of them. Congrats again to the Champs! Hope you guys enjoyed those burritos!

That’s it for the season. THANK YOU all again for playing and hope to see everyone back here soon.
